If you are listening to this, wondering if there is a Jesus- He is real. He's complete, tender love and He wants to know you. Look for Him and you'll easily find Him...
This is my all time favourite hymn. The fourth verse reminds of the night I submitted my life to Jesus. I felt totally free and that feeling has never left me even though 52 years has elapsed since. The Lord Jesus is truly wonderful, and a true friend.
The most wonderful words, most wonderful melody. Ful of wonder and joy of our Lord Jesus. Often sung in church like a dirge. Sing with the wonder of our salvation.
The Mumatron, some people sing mournfully because they carry a heavy cross, and are worried about their loved ones. Keep optimistic, and be encouraging to the heavy laden.
Thank you so much for sharing this Wonderfull rendition of this powerful, great hymn! Beautifully sung and played, and special thanks for that descant! Descants make me think of angels joining in, and carrying the praise and worship straight to the throne of God Himself❣️
I so love a good organ interlude. Gives you that extra time to absorb the full beauty of the verse you've just sung and get a good few refreshing breaths in ready to belt the next one.
I cried so much that the did hear the song as seen on Songs Of Praise on TV and on computer, the hymn is called And Can It Be That I Should Gain. It makes me emotional.
Such an uplifting hymn, had this at church this morning and were allowed to sing with our masks on. Great after a whole year without being able to sing.
AMEN ❤😂BLESSING TO MY FATHER IN HEAVEN THANK GOD FOR IS BLESSING AND MERCY JOY LOVE PEACE ☮ ✌ PRAYERS FAITHFULNESS IN JESUS CHRIST MIGHTY NAME AMEN 🙏 🙌✨❤
If you think that Arminians don't believe in God's grace, think again. This hymn is all about God's grace, and was written by the staunchly Arminian Charles Wesley.
Our wedding hymn! My lovely wife & I chose this in 1977 to tell out the gospel to relatives & friends; still together, still love singing this in church with the congregation
Romans 13:14 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 4( For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
The only problem I have with this hymn is that God cannot die. Jesus' human body can die but not his divine nature. A better way to sing this is "That thou my "Lord" should die for me."
Hi Charles. If we pursue this we can easily find ourselves back in the Christological debates of the third and fourth centuries. In the end the church came to the decision that Jesus was and is fully God and fully human - and therefore, to that extent God did die on the cross. Of course there is a paradox here because, as you rightly say, God cannot die. But to deny that God died when Jesus died risks denying the full divinity of Jesus. Deep waters indeed.

Amen, absolutely right, He is there all the time just waiting for everyone to turn to Him 🙏
We don’t know what’s ahead, even tomorrow, but today we should focus on the unfathomable, the depths of love divine.
These old hymns are by far the best
the melody is so powerful and serene.
😊
@@ChetValleyChurchesthese old songs are definitely the best.
That someone there doesn't believe wouldn't detract anything. Jesus isn't in competition with idols and their worshippers. Remain blessed.

Thanks for your amazing testimony ❤

This song speaks to my spirit
What I like about this rendition is the clarity, especially of the women singing.
Praise God from whom all good things come.

So calming, so cool, so therapeutic. Evergreen and fresh. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

The clouds are clearing... 😊
If Hayley Westenra was a Celtic woman fanatic, #HayleyWestenra can she sing And Can It Be That I Should Gain?
