Try a flirt pole. Its good for training and burning energy. Go easy at a young age though until their bones are fully developed.

"...and sheds minimally" *looking into my coffee cup finding at least three hairs in it* yeah...well... Nobody told my boxer I guess 🤣

Thank you! My girl is a 3 year old rescue. She's the sweetest thing, she's just been shedding a lot. Looks like I need a new brush!

    How I do it:
Lead them into a bathroom, a simple medical leash works.
Once in the bathroom, take off their collar and put cotton balls in their ears so water can’t get in
Get them into the bathtub (I find getting then tugging on their leash while saying positive remarks works)
Take off the shower head and let it dangle down
Turn on the water and let it go to the shower head
Wait for the water to be warm (not too hot, not too cold)
Washing part: (I find it beneficial to stand in the bath tub with the boxer)
Rinse the dogs body down, all the way to a bit behind the ears (DO NOT SURPASS THIS POINT WITH THE SHOWER HEAD)
Get your soap (Maine and tail shampoo is what I use)
Lather the dogs body in soap, take a dog scrubber and scrub everywhere except face and groin
Take shower head once again and rinse off dog, making sure to twist and turn the head into the crevasses
Lead dog out of bathtub and thoroughly dry off dog with towel
Take wash cloth and wet tip, wipe off dog’s face and chin
    Dry off face.

I brush my boxer 2-3 times a year and wash him about the same. They are the best.

When you should wash you boxer is dependent on how much dirt and grime they’re exposed to. (Boxers are known to be very rambunctious and energetic so they WILL dig in dirt, getting it all over their paws and face) the more dirt and grime, the more frequently you should wash them. For me, since I have a huge dirt backyard, I wash them twice a month.

I’ve found that a rubber curry brush works best for mine. I tried every sort of brush and comb prior to it and none of them worked half as good.
Use it daily or a few times a week.
Also give him a good rub down with it before a bath, and most importantly during a bath (this will remove A LOT of loose fur), then one more light brushing after a bath.
Use a soothing oatmeal and aloe shampoo (and don’t bathe too often), and of course make sure he’s eating a quality food with very little filler.
Your Boxer will be shiny and soft and shedding much less in no time.
Good luck and I hope this helps!

The rubber or silicone, curry, brushes, or gloves are the only thing my boxer will tolerate. I have tried every type of brush, including the FURminator, each one claiming to be compatible with short hair dogs, but when you see how sharp the spikes are on some of those bristles you’ll see why they’re not safe, especially with boxers. You just can’t trust them to stay still long enough and the wrong move could hurt them. I’ve tried the bristle brushes…pointless. Slicker brushes made with rubber or plastic work well, but I haven’t had good luck with metal. I can’t find anyone on TH-cam that uses metal brushes either. There’s very little content specifically dedicated to brushing boxers. And the few videos I found don’t include any narration, explaining what they’re doing, and why, what equipment they use and why, etc. It’s quite annoying.
