Haha, who in their right mind could ever think this was an easy save?! The power of the header, the quickness with which Zidane changed its trajectory from the cross, the precise placement right underneath the crossbar... All of this calculated within a split second by Buffon to still just barely get a stretched hand on it. This is goalkeeping of the highest quality!
That ball was traveling so fast any other gk would have not reacted on time n would have been goal.
Looks easy because Buffon timed his pre-hop perfectly
buffon has the most perfect positioning of any gk, that was no easy shot to save for sure. if it wasn't for buffon's superhuman spatial awareness and the little pre-hop to anticipate the ball's trajectory the ball would've gone in. and even then, buffon just barely managed to save it. what. a. goalkeeper.
It is so sad that people nowadays only remember Zidane in 2006 because of the header to Materazzi, and skip the fact that he almost won the world cup all by himself.

Nah, Casillas save was 100% dependent on luck, and it didn't happen in last few minutes or seconds like Buffon or Dibu. So please, I need people to stop over-hyping overrated Casillas.
@@stivsham wtf r u waffling on about, nearly all 1 on 1 close encounters are luck-based for the GK, save for maximizing all chances through getting big and choosing the right side. If Casillas is "luck" then Emi's is luck. But Casillas and Buffon's are against ZIDANE and ROBBEN.

Everything about this is so beautiful. There is an alternate universe where Zidane scores this and becomes an even bigger legend, but not that day. That day the God of all goalkeepers was wide awake, and he made this pristine divine save. And watching this in 2022 it is as perfect and emotional as it was back then, made even better with the Italian commentary, the language of love, the language of Calcio.

È l'importanza della parata. Per quegli che credono sia una parata facile andate voi a parare un tiro di testa di Zidane di quella potenza in una finale mondiale.
