I have no problem with people believing in whatever makes them personally happy but children should be not be taught religion or exposed to religious rituals. Let them grow up and then decide if religion is something that they want in their life. Believes in any God(s) are just that believing in something because you want to believe in it with absolutely no evidence it actually exists. Some people live and breath their religion and can not see beyond it to live any kind of life which is unhealthy. My mum was a crazy Christian who was obsessed with her God she didn't allow anything in the house like toys, TV, Internet, fictional books anything fun at all because it was all worldly. Days out to play in park or go to cinama or bowling or birthday parties were forbidden. She didn't even encourage me with school work because she thought no other subject was important than religion. She expected me to focus on god and just do enough at school to get any minimum wage paid job enough to support myself for food while warning me i was not to focus on the job or any social aspects of the job and must keep god first and foremost in my mind. The only thing that was allowed in my childhood was church, reading the bible constantly, praying and conversations that were about god. Day in day out all I heard was god this god that what do you think god would think about this. When I got bored and started trying to talk about anything but God or asked to do anything non religious and whined about it I was punished into complience. My mum and I are no contact I left home at 18 . I worked hard and started my own home run business I've two children and they are my joy in life. I give my children the childhood I never had and I would never ever raise a hand to them or take away their childhood. They're both kind and loving children, they're creative, funny smart, inquisitive and curious without me teaching them that a god is watching their every move and is going to throw them into hell My children enjoy everything that life has to offer, they enjoy school and kindergarden, my son loves sports. They love going to the park and play parks. I make a point of doing something with them every night of the week , we have movie nights, game nights, cooking and baking sessions, lego and building nights. Now my daughter is three we are going on our first trip to Disney land and I think I'm almost as excited as the children to create memories. That's how I want my children to grow up in the here and now with love, fun and experiences. Their schools are thankfully nor religious and I would never allow them to be exposed to religion while young and innocent. My mother is so caught up in her book that she will never change she reached out about meeting the children and instantly attacked me because of how I raise them and how worldly I am. She can't see sense or reason and unfortunately I've had to accept that I can't even allow her to be part of her grand children's life because I know I'd see all of the joy taken from their life all their experiences and fun would be taken away replaced with a old book, a church pew and the word god. Forcing religion on children and making it the only thing in their life won't keep them in religion it will drive them away at the expense of their relationship with their family
