I started wearing a black vintage haori over a t-shirt with my black jeans during the summer. What really got me into wearing kimono were seeing pictures of my favorite japanese novelists Osamu Dazai and Yasunari Kawabata in photos. Not only are they light weight(I like wearing flannel shirts in the fall winter and spring so a summer "jacket" is a must have for me) because it's silk, but the sleeves function as pockets for small stuff. I also got into wearing a blue denim samue jacket.

Kindogi and Noragi have a huge potential to put it in my wardrobe, It works well with minimal textured neutral color aesthetic. U will stand out as a layering pieces also possible to be worn in summer for cold conditioned libraries or museum.

Got a new Haori from S’yte by Yohji Yamamoto and it’s great. Akashi Kama noragi’s are also super comfortable and easy to wear.

Oil and Lumber from Tennessee make some awesome noragis. Handmade, I've got a black and an olive one. Oversized Not as tailored as the Akashi-Kama which is fine for me. Tons of pockets give it even more of a workweek feel

I got introduced to these garment styles via Naked and Famous' kimono shirts. I have a few now, and one haori. I find they suit me better than cardigans, overshirts, and denim jackets; I personally find collars and buttons get in the way when I want something to just throw over.

But you did not mention hakama? (maybe I missed it) I think hakama have a great influence also. Love the Haori. I bought a half dozen hakama but just didn't have the nerve to wear them in public. But they were so gorgeous, so elegant. they went to a guy who did have the nerve to wear them.

Having seen a kimono a few years ago on your channel, I knew I wanted one, but didn't know what type it was, sort of, I'd know when I saw it. Thanks to you I know it's Noragi and I was lucky enough to recently pick up a Noragi styled piece in Amsterdam of all places, but then again Netherlands and Japan do have some history. As a South African, I've got loads to learn about it but I digress, thanks for the information and knowledge Reggie..much appreciated.

Iaidogi is more flexible than kendogi, although it’s similar, Kendo tends to be more strict and more often (almost always) unicolor, like iaido when doing grade tests.

    • @THECASUALco

For reference my dude, this is a space where we want people to ADD to the conversation. We didn’t add the Clyde on purpose because it is already well known. Notice we didn’t add Vans Era either.
We are not here to validate already preexisting knowledge but to further that knowledge. Naming sneakers that everyone already knows does nothing to further that knowledge.
Lastly, as we are based in Tokyo, our lean has been to highlight Japan more because it’s woefully under covered. But it also goes back to highlighting what people don’t necessarily know about.
We respect the opinions of others as well, which is why at the end it was stated that the list wasn’t exhaustive and you are free to add more. You never know a “Subscriber version” of the same list might appear one day!

@@THECASUALco an everybody doesn’t know Tiger? Well your opinion. But the title did say “non nike and adidas”. And to not name the sneaker even honorably is total disrespect. The first sneaker to kick off sneaker culture, the first sneaker to use “exotic” material like leather and suede at up market price and still be alive and kicking and respected should have been atleast mentioned. Total disrespect. But still a subscriber 😂 bussing yo chops 😂 BTW been to Japan twice.
