For sde2 roles is HLD a mandatory topic? I have been working on ssytem app dev so I dont have much exp into HLD. I have heard drom ppl that many teams in Msft work on system apps and HLD is not asked their....what do you suggest?
It depends from 1 team to another. But in general some form of hld will be asked in most of the companies. In microsoft generally lateral hiring is team specific and then it depends on the team. I have seen interview loops where LLD was asked only and loops were both LLD as well as HLD was asked.

It does. I have many friends from tier 3 colleges and private colleges that have gotten this and even more offers. Infact for Microsoft people have said that I have said somewhat lesser numbers here.
I talked about the refreshers. That you get from year 1 based on the performance as well as the level which vests for the next 5 years. That is all that you will get in microsoft. It is among the lowest paying firms in terms of refreshers

Taht will depend on the person. Tier 2 and teir 1 shouldn't matter. As long as you are solving good technological challenges. One thing though, at 9 I would say to try for SDE 3 roles out there.

No the new hire stock grant will not change. The one that you have for the first 4 years will remain the same. On the other hand the performance based stock. Award, will be at the L60 level or whatever level you get promoted too. This stock award then vests over a period of 5 years.

At these companies mostly the language you have worked at doesn't matter. As you are expected to be proficient software engineers. Meaning you should be able to pick up any language on the go and start building with it. Do watch other company reviews to know more about the different companies
What data is incorrect though? All the compensation data points that i have talked about here are taken from offer letters from different people who have gotten offers from microaoft. Plus the refresher amounts talked about is what is maintained in the internal wiki. With some performance multiplier.

Yes obviously these are pre tax income. Tax depends on a variety of things. To name a few, new tax regime vs old tax regime, house rent, house loan, LTA claims, medical insurance claims standard deduxtions etc. Etc. It will vary from one person to another. Here the yearly salary given by the company is talked about instead of the CTC that we are so used to hear. Taxation is spmething that no body can escape but only reduce 😄

No they do not matter. But we should always look presentable as I have seen there is an unconsious bias that generally kicks in. I would say if you look neat and presentable then long or short hair does not matter!

The process is easy. It depends on the visa laws. Which requires you to be at a certain level. Typically SDE 2 and above for 1 year in the company

Yes generally, in the tech industry the compensation of PM is around 20% lower than SDE compensation at the same level.
