I hope you can reconsider using neonicotinoids, especially as such a powerful leader in the dahlia world! 🙏 These sprays are incredibly harmful to ecosystems, especially bees.
Our state (ct) doesn’t allow neonics anymore. The UK and the EU has banned it for awhile now. I find aphids disappear once the ladybugs 🐞 show up. Good tips
Ty for all your videos. This is the first year of really growing them and I was clueless how to do it. A friend had given me a box of them. I can say I have fallen in love with them. Ty for all your help!
My husband likes to use a homemade Neem oil, dish soap and water mixture. We did not use it as a preventive last year so some of our plants did struggle. Would you recommend this if used correctly???
I don’t think spraying the heck out of the Dahlia’s environment is going to solve the problem long term. On top of that, you’ll probably be severely disturbing the micro biome.
Hi Heather, do you have a photo library on your website with photos of the different problems you discuss here? Thank you for all your informative videos, new dahlia grower home gardener.
A little sprinkle of diatomaceous earth around the base of the plant has totally stopped earwigs for me. I've learned about it for tiny countertop ants and it is great there. It is safe and easy, just avoid breathing it in.
For all those concerned with the use of Neonicotinoids, I contacted Swan Island. They do not use Neonicotinoids on their plants or tubers. They even have bee hives on site to help with pollination. They do sell those chemicals to their clients as pest control options if they personally choose to use them. But they themselves do not use them.
That’s good to hear but was different than what was said on social media last year when the issue arose. Would be great if they wouldn’t promote those products.
@@Blossomandbranch I totally agree! No one should use those chemicals. After their video promoting them I was skeptical. But that was the emailed response I received today. I sure hope that it is accurate.
Can the flowers and buds be sprayed, with all of the afore mentioned sprays and treatments without damage? Or should the spray be concentrated on the leaves and stems only? Thank you for this very helpful video!
No, they can not all be sprayed in the buds and blooms. Please be sure to follow the manufacturers directions. Most of the insect damage will be leaf or plant related!❤️
stop it! stop it now. killing the bees is not worth you making a living this way. get a conscious. I'm not buying any plants from you and I'm telling all my friends and they will tell their friends

Yes, they can be mixed but please follow the manufacturers directions!

Which product works well for spider mites you mentioned?
What spray is good for mold every plant has it.
Not a fan of spraying pesticides... rather have an "imperfect" bloom than poison the soil.
Killing all those pollinators smfh
A real shame that you publically advocating spraying anything.
