brings back great memories of Singapore back in the early 1980 s , I remember the Trishaws hanging around the old tree out front, the frogs legs in black bean sauce and the ice cold large bottles of tiger beer served out of a 44 gallon drum full of ice..I would go there every night and watch the cooks working , Absolutely the treasure of Singapore..
Look better after the renovation.

Some may hate on Newton for being touristy, which it is, but it really is the best night hawker in Singapore. It has a great variety of high-quality stalls. Prices are somewhat higher than you might find at a neighborhood hawker, but still cheap in general.

What a good eye. I watched two times to catch it 😂
We have been there many times and have enjoyed it. The problem, though is that the pricing is deceptive. They show a photo of prawns, fish, giant crab $8 and then in very fine print “per 100gm.” We thought we’d try a few dishes. Of course for two, it was too much food and we were presented with a bill of more than $300. I scrutinised that bill and then was shown the fine print. So please be mindful as many people have been caught out.

If have alot of competition like until lobster maybe rare people eat, then recipe to be in restaurant that is 5 star hotel type? All is top in competition type of restaurant? Like make a restaurant shared investment becos top in that recipe? Think the competition winners will take like that?

Looks exactly the same before the renovation works!! Worth closing down for 3 months over the busy Nov-Jan period? Most likely NOT! and picked the worst time to shut down!!
Yeah. not much different after renovated too. I saw they put big fans between seats.
Only the roofing, toilets and additional fans! The rest same old same old!

I would say that some locals still go there, but only for the sake of convenience if we are near. The food there is still great, but there are many other places we can get our local craving fixes at a much cheaper price point thats also closer to our heartland
