In 2001 you got up a few hours early, and trained with the "dive motivators" in basic, a group of SEALs, and iirc an EOD guy. You had to pass the DPFT by your 3rd week of training, or lost your program. Then 'A' school, then for me dive school/Eglin, AFB (EOD). There were about 30 of us, and three passed the DPFT, and kept going to the dive motivators every morning until graduation.
I'm calling BS on his training regimen...6 miles everyday at 8 minute miles if you are blessed with a good running gate is possibly sustainable but it takes a lot of work for a HS kid to get to that level who didn't run track or cross country, but no one is doing 400 pushups/400 dips/400 situps/and certainly not 400 dead hang pullups in the gym three times a week, and it is laughable to even suggest he did...makes me question everything else he says. I ran Cross country in H.S. and started at LCB on a very good varsity football team and was the 3rd fastest player on my team (4.5 40) and grew up on the salt water in Cocoa Beach, so i was a decent surfer and also swam like a fish. I made it to Recon in The Corps and was blowing away the max PFT scores with a max pullup count of 32 (20 being max score), 121 (100 being max score) sit-ups in under 2 minutes and a best 3 mile time of 15:21 (17:59 being max score). When I left The Corps I was a competitive Triathlete and made several podiums in Pepsi Sprint Triathlon series in the 80's. For me to do 400 correct pullups at my peak along with everything else he spews out would probably take me ten hours...he's completely full of shit!
I was thinking the same thing....the pullups thing has to be complete bullshit. That said, SEAL training is tough as hell so all respect to him for that. No reason to make things up on top of it.
