DIY two tire inflator system with quick valve stem disconnects for any vehicle

  • In this episode I do a quick DIY project making a two-tire inflator hose system for airing up my vehicle tires for "off-road" use. My current tire inflator system uses a thread-on attachment to the tire valve stem that takes quite a bit of time to attach and remove as well as only services one wheel at a time. I upgraded the air chuck to a quick disconnect style and also added a tee fitting that will allow me to pressurize two tires at once.

    This looks GREAT. I dont want to store a 4 tire system and this seems like it's just compact enough to save space and some time. Kind of long, I think the line could even be a bit shorter, and still be long enough to help someone with a longer wheelbase. I'll look up some wheel base and compare to my 4runner and see how much I can trim but I like this. Well done.

      You’re totally right I’ve been meaning to shorten it up a bit which should save length! And I was thinking the same thing about not wanting tubing for 4 tires.

  • @tubecoatue

    Nicely thought out and executed. Does the pressure between the two tires just equalize between themselves? Must be so I suppose. BTW, you've got my dream white TRD Offroad that I hope someday to get; that's how I found your channel. I'm enjoying the content.

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Fred, yes they will equalize between the two so I’ll just have to match passenger with driver side. Maybe one day I’ll add more hose to do all 4 at once, but in the meantime it’s nice to have minimal hose.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’d think they’d all come from the same factory and just get rebranded right? But mine is 33% at 100psi duty cycle so I’m not sure what’s different... they do look exactly the same though haha.

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GrizzlyPath wait a minute! I could have sworn it said 100% duty cycle, but I checked on the Amazon description and now it says 40 minutes at 40 PSI at 75F! Oh well..... that’s plenty of time! So, my Smittybilt came with this long yellow hose. It reaches about 30 feet. I actually help my friends air up because even though I hard mounted my compressor to my roof cargo basket, it reaches hella far. So, you have me an idea. I plan to run a hose for tires left and right. I’ll cut the hose in half with a 3 way tee (shraeder valve in the middle) and then quick connects on each end. I’d like to equalize the pressure left and right rather than front and back. When I air up, the tires are still a little hot during trail time. This has always led to an inconsistency in psi per tire. Also, since more weight is in my rear, I add more pressure to my rear tires. I also have a quick connect on my air compressor line. So when I reach the target PSI, I’d just disconnect from the tee. Sounds like I’d just need 8 ft. of air hose. Thanks for giving me an idea 💡!

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s what’s it’s all about man, ideas! I would have preferred doing fronts then rears vs side/side like I did, but I didn’t wanna add more hose to the kit. We’ll see how it works. I did have a thought that I can add a second air line to the port where I put the Schrader in the 4-way and run that line out to the other side of the vehicle so that’s a future option!

    Does the gauge show accurate pressure while the compressor is running?

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, but the gauge is “live” so as soon as I stop the pump it’ll display the true pressure. Then I just turn it back on again or whatever.

    Can you air down with this system as well?

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you definitely could. I added a Schaefer valve to the manifold in this video and that can be used to deflate, I use it to fine tune sometimes but typically I don’t use this system to deflate as I prefer to use Staun deflators or some of the other options. Note that this system doesn’t remove the valve stem so it’ll deflate slower than those that do.

  • @PrithwirajGhoshRoy
    @PrithwirajGhoshRoy 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you still use this system? How do you actually like it? Did it last the test of time?
    I am building one but want to incorporate a release valve to air down

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I still do use it! I like it. Sometimes I consider adding two more hoses to do all four wheels at once, but honestly i don’t wanna have to pack all that hose. Takes up more space. Still deciding.
      I would recommend pricing out all the components and stuff. It may end up being cheaper to go with a Morrflate system (owner is a cool guy) or something, unless you already have some hose and hardware to reuse or just want to DIY.

      Prices out if I do what you have it’s $120ish (give it take) a brand new DIY flexzilla system with a 4 way connector with release valve is around $167 and brand new morrflate is around $200 give or take.

    Good ideea, but why not do all 4 tires at once, ensuring this way you have equal pressure on inflation and deflation?

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the upside to two tires is less hose to carry around, it can get unwieldy! But I might expand to all 4 tires, it’s just double the fittings so another $50 in parts. I made mine out of my existing tubing too so it only would reach 2 tires. Easy to do all 4 if you were to DIY though!

  • @charlestonshirley6431
    @charlestonshirley6431 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Creative solution to reducing time spent airing up! Has there been an increase or decrease in time it takes you to air up one side of the vehicle? I am curious if splitting the pressure between two tires slows the process up per tire but still keeps overall time spent airing up lower. My thought is that if the compressor already was overrated for your tire size then it might not be a huge issue when splitting between two tires but if it was chosen to be just right for the tire size then it would be slower on a per tire inflation time.

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It’s definitely slower doing two at once, since the flow rate is split, but where you save time is the hassle of connect/disconnect. Doing two, or four, wheels at once is convenient, but I think you save the most time with a good quick disconnect tire valve stem chuck. So if you only had $8 to invest in upgrading your existing tubing, I’d replace the chuck!
