The magazine seen to be a great way to introduce and gradually build up skills and concepts in D&D - although sometimes in a different order to what would be normally needed to know - good for children reduces information overload.
Oh yea for sure, I know some people who collect it for their children and that seems to be the best way, the DM and character creation sections might be some good parts even for people who have played before. I think it helps too that they're always using the online Beyond system, so they won't walk you step by step through every bit your character needs and instead they can focus on the roleplaying aspect of it
