This is going to hurt... but Woz is a bit of a poser. The concept of the Apple 1 was basically done by a team at HP as a remote terminal design around Chuck Peddle's 6502. HP had 2 teams, one for the Mos 6502 and one with motorola's chip, HP went with motorola's chip and Woz took the 6502 terminal, did a small change and called it the Apple 1. And not only was that design from HP, Chuck Peddle in an interview said that Woz's Apple 1 did not work and he went to the garage and got it working. So no he's not a "true" genius. Also What the heck has he done since the early 1980's? Nothing.

Oh man! He’s so right about teaching! I too as an engineer adored training interns and in a way teaching them, because BSc education has become dreadful! My trade school education in micro electronics, taught me more about IT and programming than a BSc IT now.
But I tank my dad for getting me there because I sucked (and still not a high flyer) at algebra and other abstract maths. The dear man always said he would be dreadful teacher but he really figures out by seeing me struggle what it was I didn’t see or comprehend and tried all sorts of different approach to hit that basic concept home. And he taught me, from a you age to question and to conceptualize and to experiment and that when it goes “boom”, it’s not a failure, it’s a learning moment.

Woz even talked about this and said " real friends don't do that to each other " with tears in his eye. It wasn't just resentment of course between these two, but if it wasn't for Woz's mild good manner, Steven would've been depicted much worse. Apple is a case of what comes first the chicken or the egg. Without Woz there would be no Apple 2, without Jobs intervention and vision there would be no Marcula, without Marcula there would be no “Apple” and without early Apple there would be no Jobs the poster boy figurehead to leave and so on. Jobs brilliance was his ability to learn and to bring people in to drive his personal vision. By the time Jobs returned to Apple he was ready to make the company what he wanted it to be and Apple was ready to be made into what it became. Bottom line is Jobs did it. He made Apple into what it is (was) in 2011. He surely was an asshole in many ways, but what a genius also. Woz is an engineering genius, but he’s also just a little bit bitter that Jobs stole the limelight in my honest opinion.

The question is , yes Steve Jobs wasn't the technical guy , Sculley was known to sell sugared water prior to Apple. Is Steve a technical genius? No . Was he able to get people who were technical geniuses ? Yes. I'm no apple fanboy and I surely won't get an apple Today especially with the pricing. It's ridiculous. Steve player a role though. I've learned that just because you're the most technical, doesn't make you the leader . However, I do believe real leaders not only lead but they're not afraid to create leaders. Would I say Steve is a leader ? Not exactly but he did create a cult of customers. I think there is no such thing as a self made millionaire, it's always a team exercise but with an executive decision in the making. Someone once told me , just because you can do it , doesn't mean you have to do it alone. Get people to work with you and you never know how far they'll push you. I think without woz and jobs, apple won't exist... different roles but together they build something

In fact, I remember in the late 90s/ early 2000s no young person did know who he was, and it was purely because Jobs completely brought back the company that Woz is now sitting in all these interviews. Yet, he loves to trash talk Jobs. The irony...

    • @PlugInCaroo

Woz's computer design was in great demand. This led to them making Printed circuit boards (selling the HP calculator and VW van). Then the Byte shop wanted completed computer box instead of just the PCBs so they made 100 apple1 of which 50 for the byte shop and 50 they marketed. Both Woz and Jobs contributed equally with hardwork. Woz would have made a better Apple3 without Steve but vice versa cannot be possible. Actually Jobs attutude with others around him put off Woz so much that he left Apple and could never invent anything else in his life. This was a guy who could see the best game in the market and make it at home using fewer parts than the original company. Ok the only other thing he made much later was the universal remote control.

Really funny, you got it exactly backwards. Without Steve Wozniak there would have been no Steve Jobs ever. I bet my life on it had Steve Jobs never been met Wozniak he would’ve ended in some obscure place in this world and probably dead at a really young age because he was into drugs and all kind of weird stuff. Steve Wozniak was the guy with the spark who changed Jobs’s future and practically his entire life.

Wozz is bitter and still is because he was the engineer that put together the nuts and bolts of the apple 2, from scratch. But he is far from being Jobs and he is far from being the heart, soul, core or even creator of Apple. See, Steve Jobs could only create Apple, Wozz could have worked in any computer company and excelled. There is no Apple without the vision of Apple: interface, design, anticipating human needs, trends and quirks. shaping the tech world. That's Apple... and that's all Steve Jobs.

An AI that knows you & cares about you is not only not going to give us smarter people but it will take away the last bit of soul out of us. Technology can only take. It does not give. It only appears to be giving. By the time we realize this fact, it will be too late. Cuz we're so enamored by it in its beginning stages that we don't even want to think about thinking about it. Even now, people are unable or unwilling to see the priceless things we've already lost as a result of our high tech. lifestyle
