  • I feel lucky to have lived in a time to enjoy the beautiful music of this super talented and special man. There is not a single John Prine song I dislike. And like a fine wine, he just got better with age. "I Remember Everything", a simple song with a powerful message, makes one feel that John knew something that we didn't. What a beautiful way to say goodbye. I sure don't remember everything, but I'll always remember John Prine. Enjoy and please feel free to share. (My apologies for typing Prime instead of Prine in the introduction to the video).

"The last quarter of the 20th. century would not have been worth living without John Prine".

When I hear John or have a thought or discussion it’s all become so bittersweet now. There are very few musical story tellers who can require a box of Kleenex and make you fall off the couch laughing at once! It’s extremely difficult still but I have my Prine concert every morning because I need him to stay with us in the way he is able. JP will never be forgotten. He is too important being the national treasure he his. Love you and thank you John♥️

Amen to this great human. Missed every day. He left us a treasure trove of his heart. What a gift he has given us. I’m smiling the whole time the tears fall thru every song. No one but John can do that Dead or alive.

possibly one of the best songs ever written...so simple yet so beautiful...here today but gone tomorrow...a sin !!! so much more to offer and just maybe his songwriting was entering a new phase a new realm...i hope Fiona was able to feel her husband`s love for her.....one thing ..John was not a selfish man but very generous and easy goin and he did not deserve his ending fate....

…absolutely incredible. I’ve followed John since the late 70’s seeing him in the Virginia Beach area & strumming his songs since. I have a huge hole in my heart since he’s passed but will always treasure that man & his down to Earth songs…

Great segue to I Remember. First time I heard this song, I had been a JP fan for nearly a half century, and after his passing, realized just how prophetic it was, in so many ways. I've lived a charmed life as one of the lucky ones who saw him perform in the very early days. My first time about fifty years ago was through a happy mistake when I was in the Navy and scored a free ticket and a bus ride from the USO in Millington, TN thinking I was going to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in downtown Memphis . Turns out that the lady handing out free tickets had run out and gave me a free admission to a different theater - can't for the life of me remember where it was. But I was also a young folkie at the time having played for nearly three years on the Jersey Shore and in Greenwich Village before the draft notice arrived and I joined up before the Army snatched me up... I was blown away - had never been to a small, one man show before. I got there well after it started - heard maybe five or six songs, was properly blown away by this guy, but didn't write his name down. And, I promptly forgot it.. the bus was leaving so I couldn't just run back and get it. It was a year before I happened upon his album in vinyl at Wallach's Music City in LA during a weekend visit from San Diego just weeks before I went to Vietnam. I played it thru at the listening station then took it home and played the grooves off of it trying to transcribe it to paper, then again to figure out the chords, and it was that way for the next two or three albums, until he started including lyrics.... How I met John Prine is a story I've never shared except with a couple of close friends, because it still makes me feel like a little like Forest Gump...

back again...what more can i say....Bobby Dylan and Neil Young and all other folkie stars should take a page out of John Prine`s Songwriting Book...everybody else seems so non-essential when compared to him....everybody else is farting around and only John knows how to do it right.. he did not deserve his fate....but then in life nothing is guaranteed....so i ask you...why do we all seek out fame and fortune ?? someone out there send me your thoughts....dark cloud poet singer songwriter...thankyou.....

I am a musician in my core, but I saw all that fame and fortune does for one is bring complications and a target on your back. Music and money don't mix well, I told myself.I decided to make my living doing other things and use the gifts I have as a secondary. I play for old folks, the appreciation is genuine.

no man can deny the Irish beauty of Fiona...Boomer...that is a great pic of an old acoustic guitar..maybe it`s an old martin ?? world class lyrics penned by a country folkie with 40-50yrs of writing and thinking songs...i think his writing was improving with age...i wonder what opportunities he missed...swimming pools of butterflies....the music biz is very political just like most/all business...but this is life people...someday soon we will all be gone too and all music from the past will never be heard again or just heard by chance...our lives have been enriched by John`s melodies and lyrics and his sense of humour....what more can i say...I just don`t know....thankyou for the youtube video and the notation etc....dark cloud poet singer songwriter.....canada

Thank you for this beautiful tribute to a great songwriter. I don't think John Prine really knew how great he was. I rediscovered him sometime in the last 10 years but as I listen to his music over and over on You Tube and Pandora, I realize he has been in and out of my eclectic musical tendencies. I REMEMBER EVERYTHING is such a fitting finale for such a great artist. At his age (the same as mine which isn't really that old when you think of it) and with the health issues he had overcome, I'm sure he must have had some premonition whether conscious or not. There is an old saying that one never dies until the last time their name is spoken. If that is the case, John Prine will live on forever. His music is for all ages.

American folk music...John is the best.
Woody Guthrie? a little too political. Bob Dylan? a little too cynical.
