Anybody else wants a RCR underground 2 with all new characters?? New Story line with more depth for the rpg aspects? Even a character customization mode.
A point about Conatus or at least some of the team members: Bannon Rudis, who was the lead animator and game designer on RCR:U is now a director at WayForward and was even one of the directors on River City Girls! Justin Cyr, who was another animator, currently works at Tribute Games if you're familiar with what they've done.
Honestly, I loved this game. It felt just like the original, but even better. The music was also great. The only bad thing was the horrible rushed ending it had. They must've ran out of budget at some point. The final villain came absolutely out of nowhere. Have you covered River City Tokyo Rumble? It's a pretty good game.
one part of this game broke me to the point of not wanting to play it anymore. The milk quest. Fuuuuuck that quest, it had no business being in this game.
@@michelvanderlinden8363 Yeah, the milk quest was beyond dumb, not as bad as combo breakers, but still bad. If it were just a side quest, it'd be fine.
I'm glad my childhood favorite is getting the attention it deserves. I flipped out when I saw Provie was in Girls 2! Thanks for shining a light on this relatively unknown classic.
This game was so awesome when we played it a while back. Wish this was on the console but it just couldn’t happen but one of the best beat ‘em ups I’ve played. 4 players is truly something special 🙌🏾-The 23rd Stal
Didt't you know? Bannon Rudis - the director of River City Ransom Underground was also the co-director of River City Girls and director of River City Girls 2. What are you expecting from Conatus now? There's no Conatus anymore I think.
I was hooked up on this game since 2017 and have always been looking to watch 4p playthroughs of it ever since. Though I'm still furious over the music replacement as the old soundtrack fit the game way better.
Thank you for this video, I always have wanted to talk about how good this is. It's like the original but even better the team did a very good job with the little details with combat and expanding the world and enemies. This is what the series needed and I think it gas helped open the franchise even more for stories especially River City Girls.
Still wish Glen, Bruno, Rudy, Mike, and Alexis were featured in river city girls 2 as secret characters. And picture it I would've added more variety. At add the janitor, slick or proto from underground man geez.
@@Darkhood45 Bruno is based on the director of Underground and RCG2, Bannon Rudis A character named Bannon is one of the shopkeepers, who's also based on Rudis
This RR/Kunio game is so awesome. I haven't finished it yet since I'm still waiting to go through it with a friend of mine. This one deserves more attention that it received.
I've been a huge fan of Kunio ever since the NES and I remember when this game came out and loved that it was paying homage to the Americanized version. The last few years have really been great to the franchise as a whole and I hope it keeps up.
Finally! Someone is talking about the BEST River City game imo that's stuck on PC. Underground is very underrated and I will never stop telling people to play it. The online is solid and there's a lot of replay value with leveling up every playable character in the game. I wish we lived in a world where it got it respect it rightfully deserves. Nothing wrong with the River City Girls games I just wish people would give the other games a chance especially Underground. If you're a fan of beat em ups or the River City Girls games? Please play Underground, you're really missing out on very fun game that does deserve to be up there with the best. Thank you for making a video about Underground Mr. Top Hat. I really appreciate you bringing attention to games that many probably don't know exist. Still happy you covered the Slam Masters games by Capcom.
Don't get me wrong, Underground wasn't underrated when it came out only until River City Girls came in and improved on what it did. The biggest problems in the game would probably be the enemy AI blocking and evade every other time and the story being slightly confusing after awhile. The game is definitely not for first time players to get into it, but I wouldn't say it's the best out of series. *But* I will say it has potential to be a great game if some of its big flaws were fixed.
When style won over substance. The combo potential in this game was crazy, as well as the moves AND for every character. Was waiting for the return of River City, now I'm waiting for it to return again and get the recognition it deserved
It should be considered a crime that the American branch of technos butchered all of those great kunio games and excluded him completely from the American releases. I had alot of fun playing those kunio games in the retro brawler collection. I wish I knew about that series alot sooner. I hope the snes 16 bit kunio games get localized too those games looked so awesome especially the baseball one
@@Osiris2994 So I did put Roxy in River City Girls 2 as a shopkeeper. She looks like a different version of Hasebe and has a valley girl accent bust still the same voice actor. Just as a fun and weird Easter egg.
@@Mari_Izu yeah, I can understand you there; that was the reason I ignored the game. I was under the impression that it was some new grounds flash game.
the graphics don't look better than the NES at first glance, but there's a lot more color and a lot more unique tiles being used than the NES could handle. Not to mention it's freaking widescreen
I'd recommend it while encourage you to find guides about using whatever character you plan on using, because the Ai is different than most of the games in the series. They will generally evade your grabs and attack like a swarm of wasps, especially if you're fighting one enemy and another moves behind you while you're doing a combo. Crowd control is basically an issue in the game and grinding is very necessary more than RCR, since you need to buy all of the moves, items and restores from the sauna to progress through the game. As far as I can remember, it gets harder after the Simon/Slick battle and enemies are more of a task to maneuver especially during quests.(For example: the milk mission)
@@BB-te8tc No problem, hope you do enjoy your run with Underground because my problems with it are just my own experience with the game. So maybe you'll have a different experience with it, but what I can say is that Rival Showdown is definitely better than Underground even if it doesn't have more than one playable character.
Please talk about dungeons & dragons: tower of doom & shadow over mystara arcade games, the bouncer & urban reign on ps2, mortal kombat shaolin monks, scott pilgrim vs the world game, dragon's crown, & mighty morphin power rangers mega battle

FFFFFIIINNNNNAAAAALLLLLLLYYYY U actually made it, I been asking you to for a year , this one is the best, the best characters are GLEN, RYAN, MIKE, WES, and SENTINAL , ADAM and that janitor lookn guy is cool !
I remember as a kid Super dodgeball first then River city ransom. Dodgeball was a trip, we didn't care about winning or losing only the satisfying thonk as a superball smacked your opponent.
Double Dragon on the Nintendo, and Street Fighter 2 in the arcade is what set it off for me when it comes to brawlers. Brawlers are bad a$$! River City Ransom was a bad a$$ game and games like final fight and streets of rage on the Sega system were also bad a$$.
Honestly I couldn't stand the story and characters in River City Girls and prefered the humor and fun of RCR Ransom: Underground. Underground had a storm of unique characters, a crazy huge open world and the hilariously clever police swat system. River City Girls just seemed like a Ghostbuster 2016 version of a great game. In concept and execution. Rebrand a preexisting franchise, change everything about the character of the originals, feminize every male and make lifetime channel level jokes. Just mentioning RCR Girls to gamers is just embarassing and cringey.. But again the franchise always had history with bad rebrands. I just wish a River City Ransom Underground sequel had the graphical upgrade that RCG recieved kinda like how we got Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Kyoko and Misako may have gotten a push in importance but Kunio and Riki are still the major main characters.
