Vauxhall Grandland X - Here's why I think this car is a failure. | 4K

  • My honest review of the car which had a potential, but in my opinion was ruined by cost cuttings going too far. After spending a couple of days with the car and covering a few hundred miles I could not recommend it. Despite the engine being a positive surprise, the car being comfortable and not bad looking, I feel like the accountants at Vauxhall/ Opel killed this car.
On the other side, I had a new version of a Grandland and I have to say that the quality was on another level. So it looks like Vauxhall took some learnings from it!

Completely disagree, looks better than the 3008 or whatever the stupid Citroen one is, it’s not got a French badge which makes it better anyway and it’s just nicer than the othera and looks far more upmarket than it really is.

The “ugly” wasn’t actually in relation to its look. As mentioned in the video, it looks nice in this version. It’s the quality which is really bad.

@@MDrivesThank you for this excellent review I’m currently looking for a small suv as I’m 6’5 with back problems so the height is better for me.
You have helped me to back away from this older gen 1 Grandland but
have you tested the newer Grandland x ultimate??
I’ve been looking at getting a slightly older Lexus NX as they have exceptional build quality but lack acceleration and appleplay etc. so this led me to the 2021 Grandland X purely because of size, acceleration (5.9 secs 0-60) 45 mpg and appleplay and of course PRICE!
HOWEVER I have heard some complaints about the infotainment system lagging, cheap interior but not much about the engine and drive experience so I would love to hear your thoughts on that model!
      NEW SUB and Thanks again!✌️

Had no problems with my grandland. Had it six years now. The wet belt was changed free of charge by Vauxhall. Great little car. Just done 40000 mile in it. Cheap to insure, just over £200 with Aviva. Got no complaints

Maybe you looked after yours better. The one I had chance to test wasn’t great. I drove version II and it was really good.

You've had no problems with it but it's had a cambelt at less than 40000 miles which highlights just how crap this 1.2 engine is. Imagine the problems for used buyers as these cars filter down into the older used car market, there are used car dealers that sell older cars and they refuse to take older cars in px with this rubbish PSA 1.2 engine, similar problems with the ford eco boost wet belt engine

I dont care. The car has depreciated, so what. All I'm saying is that it's done me no harm. You won't be driving much soon if labour has their way. What do you drive that's so much better 😂

Launch control? Why would family car drivers who mostly care about mpg efficiency and loved ones security disregard a car for not allowing them to street racing in traffic lights?😅 thanks for the video.

I disagree, I love my grandland, ok it's not as good as its kia competitor and would have been nice to have just a bit more bhp, but it drive as smooth as silk and at 5 years old hasn't failed an MOT yet.
It's a bit daft I have to pop my bonnet to change the window wipers, and the ride when sitting in the back could be smoother. But it's a decent car.

    • @MDrives
      @MDrives  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Well, the engine was probably the best part of the car. To me it was the cabin built quality which was the biggest disappointment. I’ve been in cars with 200k miles+ which held better.

Driving this after my Vectra SRI 1.8 it feels like riding a snowflake. 😅 Everything feels light, no resistance on the wheel and gear changing. It looks nice, but there should be a new category of cars next to SUV. I can't imagine splashing into a muddy paddle with this like with the L200.
