thank you for the video. My question is, how do you know atoms are close enough to experience steric strain from a diagram? Is there any locus or focal point or bond of reference that must connect them for them to be considered close enough?
I know it's useless to you now but it's helping me study, if the substituent group is bulky (heavy) or more electronegative (dense in electrons), it will cause steric strain. Newman projection-wise, this will occur in everything except anti-configurations, which are the most stable.
1:26 Isnt this the gauche form, I have been taught in school that in staggered form the angle between the side atoms (like the H in this vid) is 180 and they will be situated opposite to each other. Please correct me if i am wrong
