I've read them all, and think he's the new gritty mystery author for everyone. He's just as interesting in his live interviews. I adore him. And I'm a former cozy mystery reader for years. I suggest starting WITH RAZORBLADDE TEARS. It taught me so much about revenge and violence. The story is magnificent and I give it 5 stars, one of my all time favorites
Great reviews! I found All the Sinners Bleed vastly better than Blacktop Wasteland. Wasteland does read like an action movie (I'm not sure that's a compliment). He seems to be growing as a writer and his prose and storytelling getting stronger with each novel.
Great reviews. I can say I agree with all you said about Cosby’s books. I loved My Darkest Prayer, and Nathan. There’s a flashback to his childhood and an event on a school bus with a bully that was so emotional for me. I experienced that as a kid and I was so excited how that ended. I read it several times before moving on through the book. As you said all his books are set in eastern Virginia and they are very well described. I live here as well and I could pick almost exactly where he was in the book to a real place here. He changed names of course but the visual was so real to me. I felt like it was a movie and I was an extra in it just watching all this happening. I’d love to see another Nathan book. And prequels to Blacktop Wasteland would be amazing. I've still only read Razorblade Tears, but honestly I'm just so happy he's gotten wildly popular. That movie is going to be amazing if it ever does get made. He's local to me and he does such a great job of capturing what the area is like.
I hope the movie gets made and I think all of his books would make great adaptations! I agree he does have a way of describing places and making you feel like you are there.
