I think the most important difference between quads and inlines are that inlines were built for outdoors and quads were built for roller rinks. Unless you have a very nice smooth area to skate over get inlines or you will be tripping over every little crack 😞
Speed, in my opinion, makes a difference on trippin over cracks and imperfections on the floor. I've notice it when I'm skating on the streets, if I'm not confident enough about my legs and go slower I'm definitely tripping in any cracks, but if I'm more confident about my performance and go a bit faster those cracks are a thing I just passed on.
Not to the be know it all but there are a lot of adjustments that can be made to quad skates (wheels, toe stops, plate, boot) and the one in particular I'm going to say is you can change the wheels to outdoor wheels. They have a different hardness and are usually larger than wheels for indoor skates.
@@kari5765 Yea thats tru, i just meant that literally when they started closing down roller rinks after the 70s, they invented inlines which are more suited for outdoors.
@@melodyshart7572 Yeh, I totally get it. I was just saying in case other people don't know that lots of adjustments could be made to quad skates to really customize it to each person.
Soo, it's better to buy inline if you're going to use it outside a lot without having to buy the custom stuff first? Because everything seems expensive, but I wanted to try...
I’m 25 now and been using inlines all my life. Quads feel almost impossible for me to skate in at this point because it feels weird not having wheel support in the front of the skate so I’m constantly tripping forward
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Though the short length can cause that I think it's a matter of time. The same happens when you ride fitness inlines for a long time and then want to try freeskate inlines, because the frame is shorter, but you get used to it with practice.
Yep, it is a weird feeling at first. Took mr about 40 minutes to start feeling my balance. Quads are much easier to maneuver in my opinion. They just do what you tell them 😊
@@enonz761 Yeah I should update this comment cause now I’m in a $350 Pair of quads and they’re absolutely fantastic I’m never going back to Inline skates 😂 I can finally Jam skate
“Learn one, or the other......” Proceeds to put one of each, on different legs 😆👍😎. Great skills, great tutoring, I could watch & listen to you all day, keep up the good work.
As a beginner who lives in Greece I didn't have plenty of quad shoes to chose from. So I bought a quad in a boot like those with blades. In the beginning I was so disappointed that they were not as beautiful as the brands of the US, however then I realized that that type of boot gave me more support. Yes, of course is it heavier but it helped me to never fall. I have my boots 3 months now and I never fell.
Wow, how can that even be possible to skate on them both at the same time? 😃 it's super cool! 👏👏👏personally, I really like the both types of skates, and yes, the balance is probably the main point of difference between them
Great video, straight to point no BS love it.. thank you! I Would love to see more videos of you doing quad tutorials. Love & respect from south London
@@SkatefreshVideos it would be great to see the comparison when doing a particular move on quads instead of inlines, for example when backwards powerslide or backward crossovers for speed etc. I feel like the foot placement would be very different compared to inclines and visually it would be nice to see a professional show the difference.
I learned on inlines first and then I wanted to try quads. My first set of quads have a speed skating boot so, you have no ankle support but the transition from inlines to quads was pretty simple just needed to fine tune the trucks and i realized that with quads i needed to put more pressure on my heels instead of the balls of my feet like I did on inlines. Overall, I believe starting inlines first builds strong ankles because of how easily your ankle can roll side to side. Also, i can still turn on a dime and carve in and around all the kiddos at the rink just as easily with my quads as I did on inlines.
I LOVE your videos Asha! I just took up my inlines more seriously. I started skating more regularly as I am in the late stages of recovering from Achilles tendon rupture surgery (reverse tumbling off-landing, I am an adult gymnast, and grew up doing ballet). It is really helping me gain strength and endurance again. Anyway I found your videos and have been taking your lessons and finding out how much I need to fix. I always just transferred stuff I picked up from ice skates (which is probably also bad form, and I can transfer your lessons to ice!.) But my skating already improved tremendously! The hardest part was figuring out how to stroke with outside edges, it's getting there. Although I can't hold them yet and struggle with smooth front crossovers, luckily the back aren't too bad! I just bought quad skates as well! They feel so strange I have to get used to the shorter front-back base. They felt so bizarre when I first put them on, I couldn't skate, it was funny, but I started getting the hang of it. I am hoping one day I will be able to one-foot spin on them like I do on ice skates (like a sit-spin) because inlines that's nearly impossible (without toe-stop picks) and would probably take many years. Can you do a video on proper form for preventing knee pain? I was skating so much my weak leg knee got bad tendonitis. I have been on a break from skating to heal it. But I am not sure if it's the way I am skating, or just doing too much on that leg too quick (it was non-weight bearing back in Jan for a month, and I've had lots of PT). I lean so far forward I have all this pressure in my knees, especially going backwards. I have almost all my weight in my toes, and maybe I am putting too much up front. Part of that is fear of falling backwards too, unlike gymnastics there are no mats and asphalt is rough! Yes, I wear all the gear. Anyway keep up the good work on the videos! I think you are one of the best skating teachers out there, and such a beautiful skater! You make things so clear and break it down well. Too bad you couldn't post any old quad figure skating videos, I'd love to see that! Thanks again, sorry for the long comment. I'll keep watching! :)
The shorter wheel base of quads does make it more likely for backward falls (if a skater has incorrect technique). However on inlines the instability is more sideways than backwards (if the technique is wrong). They each have their ways to be unstable if you do the wrong thing.
really? i feel like you have more balance with quads, i have good control with quads but never tried inlines .. i want to start skating with inlines though
In my opinion, quads are better for moving around and dancing, but Inline skates are easier to fly around corners. Quads can make you go super fast on a straightaway, but I actually go faster on Inlines anyway lol. Both are great and have their uses.
As a child I had Inline skates and I was a few times in a year on the ice rink. Today my Quads will arrive and I can't wait to try these. I never skated with quads. So, I hope, I can make it xD
Hope you enjoy yhtem. It will take a bit of time.Check out my beginner free trials on my website for online Quads learning. Much better tan anything on TH-cam I've offered. skatefresh.com/how-to-quad-roller-skate-courses/
I was just making the point that they are more similar than different. if they were totally different it would be almost impossible to skate on each simultaneously. But really, wheels are wheels. There is too much talk about how different they are! The main difference is my inlines are much taller than my quads but that's just wheel size. The mechanics of skating is the same.
This is the most helpful video I've seen on the topic. Thank you. I went from figure skates to roller skates, and I feel like I've been struggling pretty hard to adjust, and this video has given me some good perspective on why that is ^^; maybe I should have gone with rollerblades instead
Derby girl here. Even with outdoor wheels, my quads are far too reactive to imperfections, which makes outdoor skating feel scarier than it should be. I've thought about getting inlines because they're much better outdoors and I must take advantage of the nice weather.
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. You're right! It's the quadrangular layout, the wheel size/width, the short plate, etc. what makes quads dangerous on rough surfaces. In the 70's and 80's people used to skate outdoors on quads but it was a problem because the surfaces are most of the time uneven. Inlines were the solution! Notice that Asha does skate outdoors on quads but she uses this specific spot in Brighton only, or in the disco. When she hits the road she rides inlines which are not only safer but also way faster.
Super helpful. I only purchased the inline skates while waiting 10 weeks for my quads to arrive. Now quads shud be arriving any day and was wondering if switching back and forth would hinder my learning inline, which of course, you answered. Thanks so much. I'm determined to really learn inline. Thank you! ⛸
Hi Asha! I was thinking the same thing as Sniffer about the wheels. It seems that even outdoor wheels on quads do not roll as smoothly over debris and rougher surfaces. Inlines are better for that in my experience.
Indeed if you think about the surface area touching the ground with 8quads wheels they “feel” every bump in the asphalt much more than the curved inline wheels which have much less wheel touching the ground. That’s why quads are soooo much slower.
The radius of the wheels also makes a big difference. A lot of urban and fitness inline skates have much larger wheels, which means the impact angle that detritus is hitting the wheel at is much lower, and so when you do hit a pebble or rough pavement it's easier to just roll over it. Quad wheels always seem tiny by comparison to the 90+ mm wheels of many inline skates.
Growing up I had to use quad skates at the skating rink. I hated them because they were heavy. When I turned 11 or 12 my grandmother bought me some inlines. They were lighter and I went everywhere around the neighborhood and down long hills in them. I do want to get some quads now so I can learn to jam skate.
Thanks for the video, I have used both before. But the last time I tried quads I couldn't anymore, last time I used in lines took 30 minutes to feel comfortable again. I just ordered both to see which. Amazing to see you use both at the sametime
Yes Id never done that before so was curious how it would feel. I ws just trying to show that the technique in both is the same. They are more similar than different.
@@SkatefreshVideosdo you have a recommendation for a good budget skate for beginner for those in US since some of the recommendations are not available in US ? @@1corinthians139 I seemed to have more control with the inline, but rolled pretty fast on the quads which wasnt good for a beginner. My brand is Rollerblade and I have no complaints with.
I had quad skates as a kid (around 6 y.o.), grew out of them and then never had any skates ever. Now I'm 26, I ran into your videos and they make me wanna learn how to skate in all possible ways. I borrowed inline skates from my mum and bought ice skates a while ago, which I'm too scared to try. When I learn these two, I wanna get quad skates.
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. In fact, there is a quads hockey sport version that comes from the sport called hockey, but it's played on tarmac instead of ice.
@@SkatefreshVideos Thanks for the response! In the U.S. I had only heard of inline roller hockey. I'm so glad that I learned about quad roller hockey today, thanks for the info.
Have 2 pair of quads, one with wheels for indoors and one with wheels for outdoors. Loosening trucks makes a big difference and learning to stagger feet when using quads out doors can benefit you and eliminate many issues.. Zen wheels for quads) for outdoors can certainly get some speed if thats what your looking for . And also Reidell has a nice quality higher up the shin boot for support. That heel on my quads makes a big difference when doing dances and jumps for me anyway outdoors. Thinking about pulling out my inlines to use and gain that experience and challenge.
Nice summary. I also love the look of the Reidells and have several friends who swear by them. I also love the heel. Miss it on my inlines when dancing!
Interesting video 👍. Do inlines' larger, bullet-profile wheels make handling rough surfaces (i.e. everywhere in the UK! 😉) easier than quads' smaller, flat-profile wheels?
They certainly do! Outdoor city skating on (most) inlines tends to be easier and smoother. Among inlines, the larger the wheels, the smoother the ride, to a point. I'm a inliner skater but I have seen quadders handling the city anyway. I guess it takes a bit of a different technique and more experience to make it work. You still need to master the inline technique for rough-surface riding anyway, it's just somewhat easier to handle on them
I'm thinking of which one to get for my birthday! Like most people, I thought quads were obviously easier. But now I'm really considering inlines. Also, where I live most shops don't sell quads. I also don't fancy the raised heel. It's like wearing high heels, which personally in my opinion can damage your foot & posture. I'm just worried I can't balance on inlines....and I don't even know if skating is for me. I just want to make use of my legs :p. But really, great video, I think I might get the inline skates!

Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Just concentrate on one type for now, leave the other for later. The skills learned with one will apply to the other, but don't do both at the same time because your brain-body connection needs to assimilate the process with one first.
derby skates / speed skates don’t have a raised heel, so i’ve seen some inline skaters recommend them if you’re transitioning from inlines to quads and you want a sort of similar feel (it won’t be completely the same of course - quads still have a shorter wheel base as you said, so less longitudinal stability). also, i wanted to mention that many newer quad skate models actually do have pretty good ankle support without being too stiff to provide enough bend, but i also still think inlines provide more ankle stability (because it is needed for inline skates - one company, flaneurz, even does not make their product, shoes made into detachable roller skates, in inline versions; only quads, because there is enough lateral stability in quads that it’s safe enough to make many regular shoe types into quad skates). anyway, just wanted to mention those things! loved seeing you wear a quad skate on one foot and an inline on the other! i didn’t think this was possible tbh haha. i will probably never try it myself either but it was amazing
Hola. Soy Sergio del Team Skatefresh. Te sugiero revisar la lista de reproducción que tiene Asha en su canal con videos en español para principiantes. También puedes tomar su video curso online que es más extenso y detallado, también con versión en español.
Thanks Asha. My little daughter loves her quads, but I am really put of by the forward-backward stability that you mentioned. So inlines for me)). Can someone please bring quads' back wheels further back? 😂
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. It's possible, but that depends on the plate, this large metal base where all the other components are attached to. Models vary, some can be adjusted and some can't, so this is something you will find out in the stores. Anyway, the trick to avoid falling backwards is the knee flexion, whichever type of skate you wear.
What about putting inline wheels on quads? Surely then it would be a hybrid. I did that on a skateboard with small inline wheels before and it was brilliant.
Quads can be adapted for every surface and inclines are the easier skate. Basically if you dont want ant challenge the start with In lines. It all depends on the skates I have custom made quad skates with different wheels for outdoor and indoor.
I've started doing ice skating and traditional inline skating in 2020. A number of basic things are transferable to each other, never tried the quads. I'm interested in inline figure skates (eg, sets based on the Snow White frames), mainly because you don't need to live close to an ice rink to practice regularly. But they're expensive, they don't seem very popular and I'm not sure how much similar they are to the ice blades.
Hi. This is Sergio from Skatefresh Team. Figure inline skates are virtually the same as figure ice blades so you will feel pretty comfortable, but yeah, you're right they are expensive and not very popular. Another downside is that figure skating inlines are quite delicate so they are prone to get scratches easily. Besides, their wheels are small and therefore they require a very smooth surface.
You can do it! Just spend 20mins working on your transitions between forwards and backwards every time you skate and soon you'll be linking together transitions into these kind of sequences. Then it's called "Flow".
You're welcome! Quads and inlines are more similar than everyone thinks. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to skate with both at the same time (if the rules for controlling them were radically different). I was just trying to prove this point.
Asha please please please please could you make a video about how to swap/replace wheels on inline skates? Or maybe you could refer to the video that you would consider the most comprehensive and professional? Thank you!
Patino con ambos, yo diría que para pista y artístico son preferibles los quads. En línea los uso para paseos y ruta urbana. Ambas modalidades son apasionantes.
Hi ma'am can you please suggest me about skets? I had learnt beginner quad skets 1 year. Now i can sket easily. What you suggest me to take inline skets or quad skets?
Hi. This is Sergio from Skatefresh Team. In any skate what you have to look for is comfort and ankle support. If you already know how to stop with confidence then the heel brake is not necessary, but if you are still struggling with stopping then get a skate that includes the heel brake.
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. You can check her online courses, they are very detailed and filmed professionally. The courses takes you from zero to advanced by the hand skatefresh.com/learn-to-skate-online/
Dear Skatefresh team. Asha asked me for feedback on her guideline she recently gave me, how I can master one-leged toe wheelies. As long as I did not suffer from muscle ache too much, I practiced it for a while now. A scissor while riding on the front wheel on both sides, and gently shifting my weight from 50:50 to 60:40, 70:30 and so on, putting more and more weight on my front skate. I have to admit: These instructions from Asha worked very well for me. Of course I still cannot master one-legged front wheel wheelies like the professional slalom skaters, but I recognised, this procedure makes it much easier for me. But maybe I need to change my ball bearing of my right skate's front wheel. It seems to be not in good condition anymore, so when lifting up my left foot and starting a toe wheely only on my right leg, I immediately get slowed down, what makes me easily fall over forward.
That's great to hear that you can see and feel how this progression is the way to get to your goal of 1 wheel wheelies. Keep at it. Yes if you have a slow bearing on the front wheel that causes immediate slow down then this will make you lose balance so yes change it over with some of the back wheel bearings.
Yes I think in an ideal world skate shops would also have drink where you could try everything out! But the world is not ideal. Chosing and buying equipment is perhaps the hardest obstacle in skating as there's so much choice.
Thank you for your videos, the content is great! But the audio is often very background noise polluted by wind or cars passing. Thus making it harder to undersand your comments and advices. Since I really like the style of commentary in action you could maybe try some different sound recording options. Other than that, kep it up!
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Sorry about that. She is trying other options, however those things are hard to control while recording in that kind of place without professional equipment and a crew, then the video requires editing, enhancement, etc. Asha's top notch work is actually her online courses. These are just tips for TH-cam and must be done quickly most of the time. Even being so short you wouldn't believe how much time they require.
Asha, I notice the height of the quad you use in this video is less than the one I use. Across the ocean, we call yours a "Red Baron", except a Red Baron doesn't have a heel, as does yours. I don't have a Red Baron. The top four lace eyelets on my quad are metal teeth. I only use the bottom one, and I find that this tremendously improves maneuverability (I think a good thing) versus using all four. Essentially, the top three inches of my skate are useless, as any support this area of the skate can provide are purposely discarded by me. Maybe you can comment about these design options.
I still don't know what to choose even after watching a ton of videos...i will just use it to stroll around the road, to clear my mind in the morning even dance with it...but i still don't know what to choose and our roads are rough, T^T
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. If your roads are rough then choose inlines. For dancing and tricks quads are better but they require a perfect surface, they are mostly used indoors. On the other hand, inlines were made for streets and they won't have any problem if they are rough, while you can stumble easily riding quads. You can still dance wearing inlines, it's just a little more difficult. I'd suggest that you choose one with 80mm wheels, because it's even harder if the wheels are big like the ones Asha has in this video.
I used to casual inline skate when I was younger, around 8/9yr old, I’m 27 now and I want to pick up skating again, I work now so would like to go too/from work for that but of exercise, however I stuggle with my ankles now so I feel like I’ll be a bit unsteady on Inlines now so was going to opt for quads but I’m uncertain 😅
Hi. This is Sergio from Skatefresh Team. Inlines with good ankle support will keep your ankles fine. Besides, laces and buckles must be adjusted properly. If you are having a medical issue with your ankles it may be good to strengthen them first. It's a fact that inlines are challenging for the ankles but if you keep concentration to avoid rocking the ankles in/out the good form will become second nature and it will not be challenging anymore. Quads may look more stable but if you need to commute I must tell you inlines are the way to go. Quads are prone to trip you up if the road is not smooth and sweet.
Love you Asha actually I wanted to ask you is if the road condition is not good I mean if there are many jumps and tiny stones on the road then what skates do you prefer? And kindly make one video on different types of roads which are suitable for skating and those which are not. Thank you that's all
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. The road and any rink, track or trail outside will always be better if you ride inlines, and the reason is simple: inlines were made for that! Any flaws on the road, debris, stones, etc. is a big deal riding quads, and you trip over. Quads were made thinking of artistic figure skating, and later were used for jam skating, hence they are used indoors on a perfect floor. Of course it's not a rule, and there are people who ride quads on the streets but that's not really the best option. I will save your video suggestion for Asha.
Lovely skating. Where were you 10 years ago when I was skating on the prom daily ( inline on rockered skates) always looking for someone to learn a few things from ?
Sounds like you were ahead of your time.....There's a huge skate scene in brighton now so hopefully if you return you'll find plenty of people to skate with and learn from.
I never knew Bauer made quads... is that a custom skate? When I was younger I did quads but about 5 yrs ago I tried inlines and never turned back. Although I will still skate on quads occasionally so I don't get too rusty. I love watching you skate on those 3 wheelers, so I got some powerslide phuzion last week and I'm really liking them! Previously I used mostly rollerblade 90s.
Hi. I would like to get into skating. I think I’d enjoy ramps/skate park’s so just assumed in-line’s were the only option. I then came across Indy jamma Jones. Could you please advise on what would be better for this.
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. In my opinion you will feel safer and more stable riding inlines. Quads are shorter and have a heel. Besides, due to the construction, wheels, etc. inlines have more possibilities for grinds, slides, and tricks. That being said you first need to skate on a flat surface before taking ramps.
No there wasn't time in this video to do a technical summary of how adjusting the bushes/rubbers/trucks affects manoeuvrability and stability. It is a complicated area which ultimately depends on many factors such as what kind of skating and manoeuvres are you doing, at what speeds, on what surfaces, your height and weight and personal preference to name but a few). I tend to focus on technique videos and a lot less on equipment, reviews and skate maintenance as these are often well done already on other channels.
#patinsnobrasil #andodepatins
I have been inline skating since childhood that's what I started on and every time I tried to roller skate in a rink using quads I can't make my legs do it so my question is how do you go from inline skating to quad skating after 30 years
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. In general, the mechanics is the same in both quads and inlines. In fact, people can attend Asha's classes in the UK riding either type. Quads being shorter, with wider wheels and the setup they have, etc. is what causes an uncomfortable feeling at the beginning when you switch from inlines to quads, but it's a question of getting used to it. Is there any specific problem you have when trying quads or is it that you can't go at all?
They are both the same, neither is "easier". It just depends on which kind of skating you want to do more of. Do you want to focus on dancing, skating indoors and staying on smooth surfaces? Then roller skates are best. If you want to skate distances for fitness and recreation outside on variable surfaces then inlines are better. Wheels are wheels and they each demand the correct technique. Roller skates are unstable front and back. Inline skates are unstable side to side. To create stability you need to do the correct techniques in both skates.
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. You can start with any of them. One is not easier/harder than the other. The basics are the same. I do have to say that if you want to stay outdoors inlines are more appropriate than quads, and if you will stay mostly indoors on a perfect surface quads are the choice.
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. I'm not sure what "etc" would mean in this case, it could be a lot of things. As a general rule quads are for indoors where you have a perfect surface, while inlines are for outdoors where you will find lots of imperfections and obstacles. I hope that helps, for further information about what skate to choose I suggest that you take a look at Asha's e-book here skatefresh.com/product/ebook/
I know people who have “put” normal shoes on various plates or frames. Anything can be done..... I’ve seen inline boots on quad frames yes but they are usually home made not shop bought.
Some skates have a heat mouldable lining. You put the lining in the oven to soften then place in the boot and slip your foot in. The liner then moulds to the shape of your foot. They are super comfortable. Search or ask for heat mouldable skate liners.
Are 3 turns (on one skate) easier on quads? I see more people online achieving this in quads it seems. I have a hard time mastering this on inlines (at least with a non-rockered setup)
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Yes, 3-turns and all figure skating elements are easier on quads because the stopper gives you the anchor needed to pivot. On inlines you have to pivot on one wheel, unless you ride pic skates, which are designed specifically for inline figure skating. Asha does 3-turns riding regular inlines but yeah, it's hard to get it. She explains the proper way in her "How to Skate: Advanced" course here skatefresh.com/learn-to-skate-online/
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. First, not all quad skates can bear that weight. It's something you have to make sure before buying. Second, losing weight by skating is totally possible, however you need to move in a continuous pace at certain speed and keep it up for a period of time like with any other aerobic activity. Quads are not really the best choice for speed unless you have a very smooth surface available. So in my humble opinion you would be better with inlines. Nevertheless, I will see if Asha can answer this herself either here in video or in Instagram. It's a very interesting question.
@@SkatefreshVideos Thanks! It's hard to research this type of info. I usually get the skate's weight instead of the weight capacity when I do look these up haha
I want to start skating, but there are so many differences I would not know where to start. I hoped that you could help me with that. What are the things I need to pay attention to and what would you advise a beginner? It would be useful if my support soles fit in it. I am also not very stable in my ankles and find brakes behind what I can remember from the past scary. (But am good in skiing) does someone have tips or an idea?
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Yes, there are many differences. For that reason Asha created an e-book you can find here skatefresh.com/product/ebook/ Quads are not easier than inlines and viceversa, both have certain difficulties, so choosing the type of skates actually concerns what you want to do with them. If you like to be outside in parks/squares/streets the choice is inlines but if you are more interested in dancing or figure skating kind of stuff then the choice would be quads. Quads are better if you stay indoors in a place where the floor is kept under good conditions, not really convenient outside where any crack/stone can trip you up. At the beginning most techniques are similar in both types. And no matter the type, what you have to look for in a skate is comfort, good ankle support, and a brake. The heel brake in inlines is perfectly fine as long as you know how to use it. It can be your best friend. It does work, even in slopes and Asha teaches how to use it in her online course for beginners skatefresh.com/product/how-to-skate-beginner-level-full-course/ You can also find a free lesson about the heel brake here skatefresh.com/product/how-to-stop-beginner-level/ in a course specific for beginner's stops. If you wear orthopedic inserts you definitely need those inside the skates too (I wear them myself). Your ankles will feel more stable with good skates well tied up and with the exercises Asha explains in her courses and also in her TH-cam channel. If you have a particular health condition where your ankles are unstable then maybe hard boot inlines will be better than the soft boot inlines. Quads are more stable sideways but you need to be careful because some quads come with a very weak ankle support, some models don't even have one.
Inline on one foot and quad on the other, then you are level 10+
Oml
Real 😂
Asha is out here showing us she's the goddess of skate 🤙🏼 much respect
Watching you skate with a different type of skate on each foot has done my head in! Amazing. I like your tutorials too. Thanks.

Same here I thought my brain was broken that I cant figure out quads
“Learn one, or the other......” Proceeds to put one of each, on different legs 😆👍😎. Great skills, great tutoring, I could watch & listen to you all day, keep up the good work.
As a beginner who lives in Greece I didn't have plenty of quad shoes to chose from. So I bought a quad in a boot like those with blades. In the beginning I was so disappointed that they were not as beautiful as the brands of the US, however then I realized that that type of boot gave me more support. Yes, of course is it heavier but it helped me to never fall. I have my boots 3 months now and I never fell.
You are from Greece,too?!

Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. I'll place this in the list for future videos. Any subject in particular?
@@SkatefreshVideos it would be great to see the comparison when doing a particular move on quads instead of inlines, for example when backwards powerslide or backward crossovers for speed etc.
I feel like the foot placement would be very different compared to inclines and visually it would be nice to see a professional show the difference.
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Wow! Yes, I think Asha will be very excited about comparing techniques. Thank you so much!
Ikr. When I saw her skating so gracefully wearing that, I don't know what I felt was jealousy or envy 🤭
From my experience you're gonna fall way more on quads than on inlines😁

Wow I never knew you can skate with quad & inline at the same, you're such a great skater......
I'm learning quad and I'm loving it! The inline seems scary to me hahaha it must be difficult to stand
It's actually not that hard. Because there's ankle support, it helps keeping your balance. What's hard for me is stopping lol
Thank you! ⛸
Yes I did the same! My roller skates aren't here yet though. I'm loving inlines so far
Why does it take ten weeks for a pair of roller skates to come?
I am obsessed with your videos and your style, thanks
Great video! We get asked this question a lot too! Thanks for the concise info!
It’s a very common querie yes and much misunderstood
Girl!!! you are Insane on those skates!! It’s MESMERIZING!!! That was so DOPE!!! 🛼🔥🔥🔥

You can put quad trucks on a pair of Doc Martins too! Quads are very versatile like that.
You still need to master the inline technique for rough-surface riding anyway, it's just somewhat easier to handle on them
Yes indeed that’s true. The flat quads wheels compared to the curved inline wheels makes this huge difference in speed and comfort over the rough.
Btw, Asha, that would be a great video: how to ride rough surfaces on quads, maybe even comparing it to inlines
BEST video out there regarding matter of difference of techniques....
How do you know you can't balance on inlines? I promise if you think you can't it's because you are not bending your knees correctly. I am a beginner, I couldn't decide which type I like more, so I ordered both! Now I am terrible on both types, lol 😆
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Just concentrate on one type for now, leave the other for later. The skills learned with one will apply to the other, but don't do both at the same time because your brain-body connection needs to assimilate the process with one first.
I like in lines because its easier to be more flexible turning going around corners turning around etc.
I'm Dutch, so I learned how to ice skate at 6 and inline skating when I was 8. 🇳🇱 Two years ago I tried the quads... I failed. It is too damn hard😂😂
So u mean quad skates are tougher??
@@af5683 for me yes!
derby skates / speed skates don’t have a raised heel, so i’ve seen some inline skaters recommend them if you’re transitioning from inlines to quads and you want a sort of similar feel (it won’t be completely the same of course - quads still have a shorter wheel base as you said, so less longitudinal stability). also, i wanted to mention that many newer quad skate models actually do have pretty good ankle support without being too stiff to provide enough bend, but i also still think inlines provide more ankle stability (because it is needed for inline skates - one company, flaneurz, even does not make their product, shoes made into detachable roller skates, in inline versions; only quads, because there is enough lateral stability in quads that it’s safe enough to make many regular shoe types into quad skates). anyway, just wanted to mention those things! loved seeing you wear a quad skate on one foot and an inline on the other! i didn’t think this was possible tbh haha. i will probably never try it myself either but it was amazing

Thank you
Haha that one foot quad. One foot inline, classic....you make it look Sooo easy....nice work, love your work..
Quads are so much more satisfying and you can lean into the turns and zig zag all over the place which is fun.
@@Ash-nh6li exactly 😁
Your an excellent skater! Brilliant video too thankyou!
Glad you enjoyed it! This was fun to do.

Amazing moves. I can skate backwards quite a while already, but must spend much more time to learn those elegant moves.
You can do it! Just spend 20mins working on your transitions between forwards and backwards every time you skate and soon you'll be linking together transitions into these kind of sequences. Then it's called "Flow".
@@SkatefreshVideos yes, not easy, but I keep trying.
I CHOOSE OSE QUADS, THEY ARE CONFORTABLE AND STABLE 💪❤
"Wheels are wheels and the same rules basically apply". (Thank you for this one.)

I wish I have a skills like yours. I really want to learn that.
Super lady,thanks for that explanation
I just wish stores gave you a chance to try both out before making a decision to buy one 😅
This is so helpful. Thank you!
How can you do that? Amazing! Thanks for this awesome video.
Thank you! Very helpful
Thanks a lot fron France ;)
Thank you so much
You're most welcome. Which skates are you on? Or are you doing both?
@@SkatefreshVideos thanks dear

@@SkatefreshVideos thanks 🙏
There was no mention of cushion adjustment with Quads. The major factor in obtaining manoeuvrability.
Nice👌👌👌

Hey Ma'am can I start with inline skates for the first time
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Sure, you can start with inlines, no problem.
I didn’t get at end, which skates are easier to start with for beginners please? 😅
I prefer inlines cuz they're much faster and I feel more free
Exactly.
Which one is good for long distance travel
Inlines. 100%. Quads are much, much slower.
In quads skats there is a bush to adjust the speed. Is there any similar system or wotking function in an inlie skates??
Not that I know of.... inlines are just faster. Way faster.
Bruh I just wanna go BACK TO THE RINK!
Great Topic..
Which one to learn first for beginners?
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. You can start with any of them. One is not easier/harder than the other. The basics are the same. I do have to say that if you want to stay outdoors inlines are more appropriate than quads, and if you will stay mostly indoors on a perfect surface quads are the choice.
Awesome skating skills.
Which one is more suitable for doing things like going down a set of stairs etc?
@@SkatefreshVideos sorry that was me being lazy, etc in terms of, going down a set of stairs and l street skating tricks.
Both are lovely❤🎉
What brand triskates are you using in this video? Boot looks comfy.
Powerslide Taus. They are yummy once broken in
Inline boots look so comfortable. Any quad skates available with an inline boot or would it not work?
Do you know if a 280 lb person trying to lose weight would be able to wear quad skates? Having trouble looking it up
I've never had a problem with bending my knees in quads and I skate with my quads loose/untied so I can just kick them off and on quickly.
You are a rare individual. Almost everyone on skates doesn't bend their knees enough (imo). Well done. You must be very smooth.
