Returning RedSox fan here.. I used to live in New England during university yeard and we would see RedSox games all the time...the 04' championship was Electric! Life took me out to Bermuda and I slowly fell away from the game. When my youngest son took ill it forced us back to Boston for medical treatments...one day we were walking along brookline and we saw some Yanks' heading towards Fenway - I said to my wife "Wow! The Yanks are in town big rivalry there!" We wathed the series (which we swept, April 23') on TV and she was hooked. Our next visit we managed to get to a game and it was surreal. So many memories flooded back; it was good to get away from the stress and strain of my som's illness for a while. To me the RedSox provide that getaway...sure we all want to win but some of us just need a few hours to be taken away from the struggles of life. I am a fan now for life, weather the win or lose! But it seems when the Sox win it is in dramatic fashion and when they lose it is avoidable. I say that bodes well for the future and I am going to make a hot take right now. Playoffs this year. First round loss. Playoffs next year and on to the ALCS. STAMP IT AND MAIL IT IN. 😅
I am very sorry to hear about your son, but this was a fantastic reminder that at the end of the day what we are watching out there is simply a game being played, and sometimes it just needs to be treated as such. Thank you.
To be fair losing to Crochett isn't he's a great pitcher and I wanted the Sox to trade for him this past off season but we should have been 3-1 not 2-2
@Versatilty definitely should have been but imagine how much worse this outlook would have been if they went 1-3 with a rough outlook on Devers and O’Neill going into the Phillies
Sox need to eliminate the errors, throws to the wrong base and the occasional base running mistakes in order to get above .500. These are all traits of a young team. But the core is good! Abreu, Duran and Rafaela are an exciting outfield. Devers and Cassas are good on the corner infield positions. And of course the pitching led by Houck has been very good all season. Let’s see if Mayer can make it to the majors next year and he and Story can play short and second. Why aren’t more fans subscribed to Res Seat Radio? This is a must listen for Red Sox fans. Keep up the great work. Love the content at both the big league and minor league levels.
I don't think a split against the worst team in baseball is anything other than unacceptable. The Sat game was especially brutal since they couldn't hit a guy with a 9 era. Except for the Thursday game the offense was terrible. Maybe they'll play better against Philly and the Yankees but that's unlikely. There's a chance they go on a run but that seems unlikely.
Their defense was exposed again. So bad they finally removed Dom Smith, he's killing this team defensively. The key to the Red Sox success is to solidify that infield D.
They are showing incredible resiliency to maintain .500 record. As a fan you are kind of waiting around for that 8-11 skid that puts them into that 5-7 under .500 that they can never overcome leading to another 78 win or so season.
If David Hamilton can just learn to be an average defender and continue to hit the way he has, I’ll be fully aboard. His speed really is a game changer and with him, Rafaela and Duran in the line, their wheels are a real weapon who have won the Red Sox some games. Agreed Duran is the most valuable offensive player on the team and it’s not even close. The fact he’s pulling a Ripken and playing everyday on top of it is refreshing this day and age. One more thing about David Hamilton. Facially, he looks like he can be Mookie Betts brother.
That was a rough series. It was lucky Duran and Hamilton offensively picked the team up. The bullpen held up well. HOUK was again fantastic!! Hamilton on his defense is not very good. He's so quick I wonder if that works against him defensively? The Phillies and Yankees damn it seems when they are down with the injury bug the schedule kicks them in the teeth!! Sure hope they do better than we might expect. "Lets Go Red Sox"!!!
The Red Sox came away with a split. I have two comments that I think are appropriate. First, Chicago was in a team slump. During the series, they started to break out of it. That's part of the reason the series went the way it did. I think Cora has been resting players to get ready for these six games. So the activations should start coming around tomorrow if I was right. I agree with you that Hamilton is good at second and is doing his part offensively. I wouldn't expect Grissom back until he's healthy and playing well.
Yeah I think Hamilton gives them the luxury of holding off on Grissom until necessary only if Romy can get back you can put him at SS and Hamilton at 2nd
I was holding my breath hoping they wouldn't lose the last game. I like the way Hamilton and Duran are robbing the other teams blind with those stolen bases. David has really turned his offense around and I love it. I know defensively the shovel toss he tried didn't work out but he has actually shown me a stronger arm than what I had believed. He still has more to work on defensively but I don't believe he is playing as bad as he was early on. Health wise its not looking good. The saga of injured sox players continues. Makes it rough to make a run at anything but they still have a wild card shot. I was really glad Bobby Dalbec was there to help out infield defense. Loved his homer too!!!! He is a great guy and I hope somehow he gets hot as the season moves on. Here's hoping we can some stability health wise. Thanks Corbin. Joe
I feel like .500 is honestly too end for this team. There have been some many injuries that it makes it hard to expect much more. I’m curious who we sell at the deadline. I can’t imagine us being buyers even if we’re 1 or 2 games out of the wild card.
We will see. I could absolutely see them sell at the deadline regardless of record, but I think with Breslow being a former player and what not there is still a chance they add while sell and a small part of me can’t let go of the idea that they take advantage of a team that’s firesaling to pick up a long term piece
@@redseatradio very true. I’d like to see them sell 2 pieces to the Braves or Reds for their top tier pitching prospects. A Jansen and O’Neil package for like a Lowder from the Reds.
Corbin don't forget the Sox lineup isn't that impressive without their better hitters! Once they're back they'll definitely be better! I know you alluded to all the injuries. The second half of the season will definitely be more fun for Sox fans!
The next 6 games have the potential for the wheels to fall off the wagon. If they can scrap their way to 3-3 in these games I would call that a major victory. At this point I think the Sox should have the following objectives for the remainder of the year. The win loss record is secondary to the below. 1) Get and stay healthy, return to form for key players (especially Tristan Casas, Wilyer Abreau, and Vaughn Grissom). 2) Keep Houck focused, and assist in making necessary adjustments for Crawford and Bello. Want to go into the off season knowing we have 3 legit starters. 3) make the key player trades at the deadline, if acquiring make it both a short term and longer term move (e.g., Luzardo, Crochet). If selling, get something meaningful in return. 4) set up the roster for 2025… clear out deadwood, make the decisions on who to protect from Rule 5 and try to trade those who will be taken in a rule 5 draft.
So you read my comment on previous post, uh? lol Yes! This team is crap. They have overachieved, which is impressive. This is not the Red Sox. This is the WooSox playing against MLB teams.

Idk I'd argue splitting a series with the worst team in the league was a disaster
Normally yea but without O’Neill and Devers a split feels like they saved themselves from really downward spiral
To be fair losing to Crochett isn't he's a great pitcher and I wanted the Sox to trade for him this past off season but we should have been 3-1 not 2-2

Exactly how I see it as well lol idk how we can look at that series and think otherwise
White Sox showed the TRUE Redsox incosistant and a MASH Unit of injuriess, errors
Nah the Sox have looked like this all year
Bunch of future hall of famers in that lineup! No way fans should be questioning ownership. That’d be stupid!
In all fairness, that was mainly due to a boat load of injuries, but yea heaven forbid Sox fans want a competitive team

"Stop getting picked off* could be a tough week, but its baseball so who knows👍
Facts it was like 4 times this series

No it won’t be on a run but just stay alive please

Yeah like I said at the end it kinda feels like they are just skating on incredibly thin ice waiting for it to burst open but so far it hasn’t
@@redseatradio man I just do not want to get humiliated by the Yankees at Fenway this weekend…huge series huge week actually
Crochet hard carried White Sox through that 2nd game, I think a lot of teams would have struggled against him in that form
Bleis promoted to Greenville!!!
Just hate to lose to bad teams - reminds me of last year. No doubt we should have won 3.

Yeah he kind of does lol I haven’t even thought about that
Hamilton is better than that bum Grissom... More like Vaughn Gruesome.
Yeah you got him man nice slam on a 23 year old with less than a month in a Sox uniform lol total burn

Yeah don’t love the series coming up at all
es difícil corbin es con toda estas lesiones
Sí, es difícil de ver con tantos jugadores al azar.
Hold up. This is the Hamilton video you were talking about?
No I will get there at some point

That 4th game lineup was pretty thin! Glad they pulled it out after losing the middle two games of this series.
Yeah it was kind of a miracle that they were able to do something
Houck IS our ace.
100%
Good morning, Corbin, I agree with you, in the Red Sox, going, 2&2.again the white Sox 😢😢
What are you going to do with the young team?
Corbin don't forget the Sox lineup isn't that impressive without their better hitters! Once they're back they'll definitely be better! I know you alluded to all the injuries. The second half of the season will definitely be more fun for Sox fans!
