I honestly think Matt Olsen is a bit underrated in this vid but if he does something similar next season then I’m sure he will move up a good margin. On a different topic! JRod is quite a bit to high on this list. He’s great and I love him too it’s just he hasn’t shown the highs that a lot of people behind him on the list have. He hasn’t shown the same consistency Either only being in the league for 2 years now and having a down first half this last season. And that’s why Francisco Alvarez will be a top 50 player next year. ….. this isn’t a joke….. and I’m a braves fan.

Personally, I think it's time to start dropping Trout in the rankings. Last full season was 18 or 19 (not counting 2020 though he played a "full season"). He's not getting younger and his inability to be on the field has to be taken into consideration. Would like to see him stay healthy, especially with a freed up DH spot, but it's just going to be harder and harder for him to put up top 10 numbers
Austin Riley deserves to be higher but as a Braves lifer I’m obligated to say that. Ohtani may or may not be better than Acuna. Entertaining as always brother. Keep it up. And that is why….lol.

So Yordan can’t be top 10 because he’s a pure DH, but Ohtani is going to be a pure DH in 2024 yet somehow he’s above everyone else (including Judge who’s probably a better hitter than him)???? Makes no sense man
We will see, normally I would agree but being able to concentrate on batting alone and not worry about pitching is a huge deal, he also won't be able to get pitched around with guys like betts and freeman insulating him in the line up. But ya it is unlikely he'll lead war as a DH but who knows.
seager is a top 5 player in the league but i think for the most part most guys are around where they should be, anyone have some hot takes for the 2024 season??

Give me Judge over Betts and maybe even Acuña. He put up those numbers in a terrible lineup; just imagine what he could’ve put up if he was in a loaded lineup like Acuña was. And I don’t care that he got injured it wasn’t his fault that Dodger Stadium has a bad fence.
@@jeremiah_12 give me judge all day. Judge is a better hitter and he’s a much better fielder than Acuña with almost the same arms. Also just imagine if judge was in a better lineup with some protection. He’d have insane numbers.
Pretty good list but you have one GLARING oversight... one of the best young talents in the MLB. Bo Bichette. Without a doubt he's Top 50 material. Even if that was a down year from the previous one. WAR 4.9 AB 571 H 175 HR 20 BA .306 R 69 RBI 73 SB 5 OBP .339 SLG .475 OPS .814 OPS+ 123

@@benjaminnie3162 exactly, Bichette was a league average at worst defender last year, with his offense, if a guy like Turner makes it, Bichette should make it
Put Yordan at 1B. DH abreu. He's the best power pure power hitter in the league. Missed almost 50 games and STILL put up the 2nd highest ops+, near 1.000 OPS. And what most guys would consider a career year. 35+ HR, near 100 rbi, walks a ton. Laser beam arm. Only 24 years old.
Great list all around. I think u coulda found a spot for arraez but idk who youd take out this list is great. But as a marlins fan watching him do what he does with the bat is special
Ranking Ohtani at #1 only works if you are ranking him as both a hitter AND a pitcher. As a DH he is not a Top 5 player. Acuna, Betts, Soto, Judge, Freeman are all better hitters than Ohtani. The only way he is #1 is if you factor in his pitching as well
Ha-Seong Kim is and will forever be one of the most underrated players in the game I know he's not gonna make top 10 or anything but come on dudes a beast
Hey Mark, I'm a Cubbies fan, I was curious where you think, roughly, the next cubs player is outside of the 50. I know we are more of a solid lineup that doesn't have as many superstars, but I'm curious where you would put a Justin Steele, or Dansby Swanson, or even Nico Hoerner. Thanks! Love the content, keep it up
Ranking Trout over Soto is insane. Mike Trout has officially become the most overrated player in baseball. Hasn’t played a full season in a few years now and his OPS+ was lowest in his career last year…..defense has also gotten a lot worse…..he’s still top 50 level player but he’s not top 10 anymore
Baseball is variable. People have down years, even the most consistent players like Betts didn't have a great 2021. It'd be a pretty boring and reactionary list if it was just based on last season's performance. Sure, it's possible Mike Trout has really lost it, but it's not insane at all to give him the benefit of the doubt given his history.

Can you do a top 50 worst players in MLB so I can see some of my Pirates in a video
As a Mariners fan, J-Rod at 10 feels crazy but I love it.
I feel like a few other mariners shouldve been on there too, Like cal or kirby.
Homer glasses
@@poluticonMust not be familiar with Kirby’s game. Cal is a stretch but is still a top 5 catcher.
@@charliesarver and kirby finna be better if he uses that knuckleball
@@liamcorrigan176 Lmao, if Kirby can get his k% a little bit up his upside is the best pitcher in baseball. His control is so freakish I don’t think people comprehend it.
Marc, this was a solid video but I do have an inquiry, my favorite player Randy Arozarena. He just arguably had the best year of fine fine career, but you did not inc,use him in this video, which I think is poppycock. I hope you fix this, or I’ll be sad for the next year. Thank you for your time.
“And this is why Francisco Lindor is not only the best shortstop in the league, he’s the best player in the league”
Oddly, he likely ranked Lindor too LOW, shockingly. (Put him at 25)
My Top 5 Ohtani Acuna Judge Trout Soto
New to the channel but glad I found it for Christmas! Love all of these
I honestly expected Lindor to be ranked higher. As a Braves fan, he's such a beast. MLB is just loaded with talent right now
Respect
Great job putting these together, Marc! 2-4 is very tough. You could argue any of em
As an Astros fan, Justin Verlander, Yordon Alvarez, and Jose Altuve need to be in the top 50. If even 1 of these players aren’t than this list is wrong
Verlander being top 50 is very bold of you to suggest
Bravo dude. Thank you for all your hard work. Piece and blessings to your channel. Because you were a met fan. How near Sited Of me.😂😂😂 If I haven't said it before now I will you are second to none bravo. Keep doing what you doing. Bless you in the new year and much success.
So Yordan can’t be top 10 because he’s a pure DH, but Ohtani is going to be a pure DH in 2024 yet somehow he’s above everyone else (including Judge who’s probably a better hitter than him)???? Makes no sense man
Okay buddy now your stroking it a bit😭
@@aJules07. I’m literally a Yankees fan, I hate the Astros 😭 Yordan deserves better is all I’m sayin
That herman munster lookalike shouldnt even be top 20...runs into walls...loser alert🤣🤣
That's what I'm saying bro. You take the pitching out of ohtani and you get yordan.
The gap between Schwarber and Alvarez is crazy considering they were #3 and #2 on the DH list, and Schwarber isn’t even on this list
Love Ohtani, but no way Ohtani playing only DH is more valuable than Judge playing CF this year.
As a DH he's not better than Acuna or Betts.
What if bro hits 70 HRs this year tho
@@dillonmackay683judge more likely to hit 70
We will see, normally I would agree but being able to concentrate on batting alone and not worry about pitching is a huge deal, he also won't be able to get pitched around with guys like betts and freeman insulating him in the line up. But ya it is unlikely he'll lead war as a DH but who knows.
@@Brett733 I don’t think that will make a difference I would need concrete information that he could be more capable of hitting hr then judge
seager is a top 5 player in the league but i think for the most part most guys are around where they should be, anyone have some hot takes for the 2024 season??
Matt Olson left the chat
Totally agree with your top 50 for 2024!!! Loved seeing Ronald rise to 2 after his jaw dropping season. His 2023 ranking is history just as head made History !! 40/70 . Dude is from another planet just like number 1 Shotime Ohtani!! Enough said⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
Ohtani, let's go another MVP
I don’t get why Ohtani is 1 and Alvarez is 11 when he said yordan was at the 11 spot because he is a DH, but Shohei is too
Because Ohtani somehow just gets better year after year. Like wth, where is the ceiling.
Because Ohtani pitches
@@noahnussbaum8693 Ohtani won’t pitch next year and this ranking is based solely on Ohtani as a dh
@@noahnussbaum8693 he is injured so he will only dh 2024
@@Deerjason I do not care. Ohtani not being 1 would actually be ridiculous
Merry Christmas Marc
Acuna is my #1.
Imagine if Arenado had a down season that he wasn't a finalist for the Gold Glove for the first time in his career.
Harper at 16 WTFFF, maybe the best hitter in baseball
Harper should be higher, but he is NOT the best hitter in all of baseball...
1 Ohtani
2 Judge
3 Acuna
4 Mookie
5 Soto
6 Freddie
7 Trout
8 Seager
9 Alvarez
10 Harper
Give me Judge over Betts and maybe even Acuña. He put up those numbers in a terrible lineup; just imagine what he could’ve put up if he was in a loaded lineup like Acuña was. And I don’t care that he got injured it wasn’t his fault that Dodger Stadium has a bad fence.
Pathetic no brain guy... How was Ohtani at his line up. Not even worth discussing. Your are the worst kind of person who only cares about yourself.
Judge or Acuña? I mean, Judge is pure power but Acuña has the power, speed, SB threat (causes disruption), and his arm keeps base runners honest.
WAR 4.9
AB 571
H 175
HR 20
BA .306
R 69
RBI 73
SB 5
OBP .339
SLG .475
OPS .814
OPS+ 123
Surprising to not see Ha Seong Kim on the list, wonder how close he was to being in the top 50
It was literally between him and Royce
@@GiraffeNeckMarccuriously, where were Bichette and Guerrero? I personally have Guerrero 45 and Bichette at 34. I think you undervalued bo’s defense, he was actually average at worst this year and seems to have been making constant improvement year over year
He also decreased his errors from 23 in 2022 to 8 in 2023. If devers makes the list then bo should make the list
@@benjaminnie3162 exactly, Bichette was a league average at worst defender last year, with his offense, if a guy like Turner makes it, Bichette should make it
who?
Put Yordan at 1B. DH abreu. He's the best power pure power hitter in the league. Missed almost 50 games and STILL put up the 2nd highest ops+, near 1.000 OPS. And what most guys would consider a career year. 35+ HR, near 100 rbi, walks a ton. Laser beam arm. Only 24 years old.
Judge is the best pure power hitter in the league. Not a knock on Yordan but Judge missed 8 more games and hit 6 more homers with a higher OPS
Royce Lewis earned that spot
Great list all around. I think u coulda found a spot for arraez but idk who youd take out this list is great. But as a marlins fan watching him do what he does with the bat is special
Ranking Ohtani at #1 only works if you are ranking him as both a hitter AND a pitcher. As a DH he is not a Top 5 player. Acuna, Betts, Soto, Judge, Freeman are all better hitters than Ohtani. The only way he is #1 is if you factor in his pitching as well
Soto is better hitter than Shohei? lol
How?
And freeman and betts are debatable
Only hitter you can say better than shohei clearly is Judge
Great rankings Marc keep up the good work
Putting Betts and acuna over judge is just wrong
Judge can arguably be 1 without shohei pitching🤷♂️
Honestly, Lindor with the 30/30 and stellar defense.. I think he should have been higher.
Ha-Seong Kim is and will forever be one of the most underrated players in the game I know he's not gonna make top 10 or anything but come on dudes a beast
if he comes to the dodgers he will be get the respect he deserves
Hey Mark, I'm a Cubbies fan, I was curious where you think, roughly, the next cubs player is outside of the 50. I know we are more of a solid lineup that doesn't have as many superstars, but I'm curious where you would put a Justin Steele, or Dansby Swanson, or even Nico Hoerner. Thanks! Love the content, keep it up
acuna at #2 is so wild wtf
because Ohtani is just hitting next year you could argue he's #1
@@noahmcdowell2852Acuña sucks defensively lmao
Its really not though
@@matthewkabel6246like that matters when you go 40/70
Ohtani is not pitchingand and basically is a glorified DH..... He is not better offensively than Acuna, Judge or Betts if not pitching.
Bryce Harper at 16 is diabolical
Ranking Trout over Soto is insane. Mike Trout has officially become the most overrated player in baseball. Hasn’t played a full season in a few years now and his OPS+ was lowest in his career last year…..defense has also gotten a lot worse…..he’s still top 50 level player but he’s not top 10 anymore
mike trout revenge season inbound
Ranking Soto over Freeman is insane!
@@troylachowski2476 And Mike Trout get injury again after 60 games 🤡🤣🤣🤣🤣
