I once tried a color depositing shampoo from Sally Beauty... No color on my hair but my scalp was turquoise for a while...the next time I got my hair cut the stylist was a bit taken aback.
I dyed my hair copper red once and tried both premade and putting the dye in my conditioner and all that happened was my stylist was shocked when I went for a haircut XD
The only color that shows up on brown hair is red and dark purple. Sometimes navy blue, but most blue-green dyes mix with the red-yellow tones of the hair, which makes brown, so they almost never show up. But also most color shampoo don't work or do weird things anyway because shampoo is supposed to take things away from the hair, and the way we use shampoo is not the best way to apply color. Color depositing conditioner is a better idea.
I've been using Artic Fox for awhile now in Transylvania black and I've noticed it runs blue and green. The green is what stays the most and the most predominant. It does it to my husband's hair too. Apparently all their dark colors or at least black and grey do too. That's good for neutralizing red, but not if you don't need it to. My hair goes red so easy, so I don't mind it to neutralize. Just keep it in mind. 👍😁

Also, the reason the hair had a greenish tiny in some places is because of the tones in the hair as well as the tones in the hair color used. Most silver and black products will use a blue, green, purple or combination undertone to achieve a neutral tone. This is why if you mix a black hair colorant with white conditioner, you’ll see that it ends up light blue or green rather than gray. Its actually a great trick people use to achieve a really pretty silvery pastel blue or green color. It’s similar to how self tanner works, where tanning products with green or olive undertones will produce the most natural results, rather than other products that appear orange. Silver is a very hard tone to achieve without VERY light hair, so you have to use undertones that color correct to produce a truly neutral silver that doesn’t lean too warm. The gray color may have contained green undertones, but The wig did appear very warm in the video so I’m guessing the blue undertones combined with the pale yellow hair created the greenish tinge you’re seeing. :)

I know this video is a few months old, but if you are wondering why the Arctic Fox color had a green hue to it, I believe it's because the the grey Arctic Fox color most likely is a blue base with slight purple undertones (most grey/silver colors do) while the blonde has a yellow undertone. Blue+Yellow=Green. To be able to get a more true silver color it is better to pretone the hair with a toner that has a purple/violet base. (purple/violet is directly across from yellow on the color wheel, which means it is it's complimentary color and will counteract/neutralize the unwanted yellow tones) Pretoning the hair will leave you with a more neutral base (like an ash blonde) with less yellow undertones. The Arctic Fox color should now have enough purple undertones to it to counteract the last remaining bit of yellow while also depositing the blue base to give the hair that cool smokey color you are looking for! Using a purple shampoo before can also help! (I am a hairstylist btw) Just wanted to let you know incase you decide to try and color the wig again :) Hope this helps. I do like the way the wig turned out in the end, just a tip from someone who uses arctic fox a lot on myself, you can mix in pretty much any conditioner to extend the dye without changing the color payoff. I usually do 1 part dye to 3 parts conditioner and get very vibrant color. Certain artic fox colors just dont give any color payoff to me at all... but it's usually the lighter purple and pink colors. I think its moreso because when i bleach my hair it never gets super light it's always very brassy yellow probably because I have so much red in my natural hair. Anyways I love your videos and I'd love to see you try out more hair coloring. It's a lot of fun to play with hair dye!
I switched to Function of Beauty about a month ago too and I absolutely love it! My hair is so soft and smells so good! I get my hair dyed purple pretty often, which includes bleach, so my hair has gone through a LOT lol but it's so healthy now!

Bunny! I think the hair dyed with a greenish tint is because the hair was kind of yellow blond, and the dye you were using looked like it was a blueish tinted grey. That could be why. 🤷♀️ I also learned recently that leaving color on the head longer than about 45 minutes, isn't going to dye it any extra. The hair fibers will soak up what they can and won't soak any more. Wish I knew that one when I was in high school 🤣 the wrapping the hair in cling wrap and using heat, helps dye process faster, which means it should take less time. I hope any of this helps you for next time! 💙💙💙
I use Keracolor color depositing clenditioner and I love it. I get at least 1 complement a day on my hair. When I tell them it's a shampoo they are always really surprised. Idk if it's the product or method but about once a week I put the keracolor on my hair dry and treat myself to a bath soak while it's sitting in my hair (about an hour). I also wash my hair with it about every other day. It works perfect for me, and my hair has never been healthier!
Licensed cosmetologist here! A few things; the mixer: hard to say whether or not that’d be of use being that you didn’t really “put it to the test”. Mixing two arctic fox colors is like mixing milk and chocolate milk. I would’ve liked to have seen two mediums of different viscosities ie powder lightener + cream developer. Also, you’re not crazy - the hair had a green tint. Why? Likely it’s a blue-based grey put on yellow blonde hair. Yellow+blue=green. When I was in school they always said “we don’t ‘dye’ hair, we ‘color’ it” so I’ve always used “color” in place of “dye”. So strange hearing it used so often in a small amount of time. Also, direct colors - colors that don’t require a developer - usually don’t have strong odors. Maybe something else was bugging you? Keep doing what you’re doing. Love to see products tested.

I have never tried to dye my own hair because I would also have a heart attack if I stuffed up my own hair! But, I love the idea of having different colours through parts of my hair, and so your video was very inspiring to me. I'd like to see a grey, deep pink and purple mix of dye through a wig please.
So I have the karacolor dry shampoo and love it. The purpose of it isn’t really to make you hair purple, it’s for people who already have purple hair and want to use dry shampoo. Normal dry shampoo leaves colored hair looking dull and puts a white powdery coating on it so the purple spray is to keep purple hair from looking powdery (: works great if your hair is already colored!
So I have amethyst black hair dye that I use all the time, it’s permanent. I was so excited to see the purple dry shampoo but the semi permanent one actually got me even more excited to touch up my roots. It really gives that look and I can touch up my gray and out growth. I am so excited to try it and it’s semi permanent so I’m not afraid. I keep waiting for you to dye A wig in one of those plastic tubs by filling it up with warm water and pouring in the dye then just dipping your wig in the tub and letting it sit for the allotted time. Jenna marbles did it and it worked awesomely.

When coloring hair you have to first determine the base tone. If you're dealing with an ash tone and you apply gray it will appear green because ash has green undertones. If you're dealing with a beige or blonde tone and you apply gray it will appear purple because the undertone of beige is purple. So when coloring you always have to take that into consideration. You did nothing wrong, you just didn't know the base tone. 💜💜 Love the end result!! 💚💛
Bunny...the Rock On purple that you sprayed on is what I use to dye just the bottom 2 inches of my hair. I don’t spray It on because it won’t go on evenly. I put it in a dish and then take a paint brush and paint it on. It turns out gorgeously and you have so much more control of how dark you want it. It smells like grape koolaid and is very forgiving .Ez clean up and lasts for 5-6 washes. BEST of all doesn’t bleed all over your clothes or your pillow.

Curling that wig just made it that much more amazing. The original wig that yours was modeled after was gorgeous, but this one, after it was curled, called to me. That may be weird to say, but with the curls that is almost exactly how I've been wanting to dye my hair since grey hair became a thing

Not necessarily testing out new hair gadgets ( though I did enjoy them) but I really enjoyed seeing how the hair turned out and watching all of the steps and what product's were used to get to the final product! cosmetologist here. the grey color depositing shampoo is going to act like a purple shampoo it basically was toning out the yellow tones. leaving it on longer and putting it on dry hair made it slightly more potent. if you were to use it on blonde hair as a normal shampoo it would just give a slightly silver tone to the hair. the wig picked up green/blue tones because blue and green are prominent tones in silver. with the wig being a yellow toned blonde it and yellow and blue make green it tends to pull slightly more green. a lot of stylist tend to tone the hair purple first to make it closer to white before adding the silver so you get it truer to color.
I've been letting my gray grow out for over a year but want a little change so bought the splat mint green color that is suppose to wash out after 10 washes. I hope it turns out at least half as good as your wig did!
That color depositing rinse from Napla (N.) is meant for color maintenance. I live in Japan (it *is* a Japanese product, not K beauty tho) and use the purple for my silver hair! The silver one is good for color maintenance on hair that is already dyed silver/grey with green based hair color. They also have pink for pink hair maintenance. They're really good products but I wouldn't use them to color my hair, just to maintain my salon color. That one that says トリートメント is a conditioner, the shampoo is much more color depositing!

When I separate my hair colors I use conditioner before I dye my hair meaning, I separate the section I don’t want to dye, I use a dye brush to get the line I want and then I dye my hair. During the rinse I wash the dye out before the conditioner and then I condition my newly dyed hair, and then dye the hair I haven’t dyed. Hope this helps. Also I cover my hairline and ears with conditioner it stops it staining as much. Vasiline too
I use the keracolor color + clenditioner and it’s really nice! Never tried the spray one but I believe it’s more for maintaining it, more like an “I don’t have time to go and dye my hair but my roots are showing” the clenditioner it’s honestly pretty good :-)
LOVE function of beauty. Tried a few different formulas and found the one I like best. Only shampoo and conditioner I use. I even have a formula I use as a leave-in.
Hey just a helpful hint for coloring those wigs, when you are using a cool color like gray or silver the hair needs to be cooler, I usually tone it white or use a purple shampoo. Also, when you are using a direct dye like arctic fox they don’t have ammonia so it’s really no different than using a conditioner.

We use those same sheets if foil in our salon. Basically the same thing. I find these hair color videos very entertaining! I give you credit!!

I am so excited to try it and it’s semi permanent so I’m not afraid. I keep waiting for you to dye A wig in one of those plastic tubs by filling it up with warm water and pouring in the dye then just dipping your wig in the tub and letting it sit for the allotted time. Jenna marbles did it and it worked awesomely.
I know it's probably super lame and out of date, but I always loved your Outfit of the Day videos, because they were unique and inspiring. I'd be super happy to see you creating looks for the wigs you died!

When coloring hair you have to first determine the base tone. If you're dealing with an ash tone and you apply gray it will appear green because ash has green undertones. If you're dealing with a beige or blonde tone and you apply gray it will appear purple because the undertone of beige is purple. So when coloring you always have to take that into consideration. You did nothing wrong, you just didn't know the base tone. 💜💜 Love the end result!! 💚💛

Bunny...the Rock On purple that you sprayed on is what I use to dye just the bottom 2 inches of my hair. I don’t spray It on because it won’t go on evenly. I put it in a dish and then take a paint brush and paint it on. It turns out gorgeously and you have so much more control of how dark you want it. It smells like grape koolaid and is very forgiving .Ez clean up and lasts for 5-6 washes. BEST of all doesn’t bleed all over your clothes or your pillow.

Curling that wig just made it that much more amazing. The original wig that yours was modeled after was gorgeous, but this one, after it was curled, called to me. That may be weird to say, but with the curls that is almost exactly how I've been wanting to dye my hair since grey hair became a thing

Not necessarily testing out new hair gadgets ( though I did enjoy them) but I really enjoyed seeing how the hair turned out and watching all of the steps and what product's were used to get to the final product! Pull some more inspiration pictures from the internet, like the MT DEW hair and see if you can recreate the same look, those would be such awesome video's!!! I ❤ U BUNNY!

cosmetologist here. the grey color depositing shampoo is going to act like a purple shampoo it basically was toning out the yellow tones. leaving it on longer and putting it on dry hair made it slightly more potent. if you were to use it on blonde hair as a normal shampoo it would just give a slightly silver tone to the hair.
the wig picked up green/blue tones because blue and green are prominent tones in silver. with the wig being a yellow toned blonde it and yellow and blue make green it tends to pull slightly more green. a lot of stylist tend to tone the hair purple first to make it closer to white before adding the silver so you get it truer to color.

I've been letting my gray grow out for over a year but want a little change so bought the splat mint green color that is suppose to wash out after 10 washes. I hope it turns out at least half as good as your wig did!

That color depositing rinse from Napla (N.) is meant for color maintenance. I live in Japan (it *is* a Japanese product, not K beauty tho) and use the purple for my silver hair! The silver one is good for color maintenance on hair that is already dyed silver/grey with green based hair color. They also have pink for pink hair maintenance. They're really good products but I wouldn't use them to color my hair, just to maintain my salon color. That one that says トリートメント is a conditioner, the shampoo is much more color depositing!

At first I swear I thought the chair was high waisted fishnet leggings on the dummy 🤣😣
When I separate my hair colors I use conditioner before I dye my hair meaning, I separate the section I don’t want to dye, I use a dye brush to get the line I want and then I dye my hair. During the rinse I wash the dye out before the conditioner and then I condition my newly dyed hair, and then dye the hair I haven’t dyed. Hope this helps. Also I cover my hairline and ears with conditioner it stops it staining as much. Vasiline too

I use the keracolor color + clenditioner and it’s really nice! Never tried the spray one but I believe it’s more for maintaining it, more like an “I don’t have time to go and dye my hair but my roots are showing” the clenditioner it’s honestly pretty good :-)

Hey just a helpful hint for coloring those wigs, when you are using a cool color like gray or silver the hair needs to be cooler, I usually tone it white or use a purple shampoo. Also, when you are using a direct dye like arctic fox they don’t have ammonia so it’s really no different than using a conditioner.
