    BRZ looks really good with the STI lips.

    The BRZ is just too gorgeous in this color. Went in to buy a WRX STI but ended up getting a BRZ tS. Not a lot of power but every time I take a turn I can’t help but smile 😀. I love the STI tune to the suspension and the Short throw shifter is dope!

      Great choice the Mazda is a great car to drive and as long as you have one you are definitely gonna have fun and love it but I like the BRZ and the mx5 both are amazing

    Excellent review. No negative comments from me. MX-5 engine characteristics and shifter would win me over. Those with complaints about sound quality need to go watch a bad video review. I watched the full 22 min and could have watched more.

    Good balance in the review. Agree with the conclusions - there isn't a bad car in this comparison. Depends on what you want out of your car. I went with the BRZ since I can fit two children in the back when I want to go out, and I love that steering feel. It's also currently easier to get a deal on a BRZ than a Miata given that it has been out for a few years.

    Nice vehicle comparison video Sofyan. I reviewed the Subaru BRZ couterpart, the Scion FR-S, a long time ago, and I'll admit that it did in fact felt comfortable and was easy to see out of.
    As for the Miata, I'll have to find one to review in order to get a better idea on how comfortable the vehicle is to sit in, and see out of, because I've never sat inside of one before and I'm very eager and excited to see what it's like in person.

    2350 pounds vs 2750 pounds.......400 pound difference. The Mx5 drives much better than the BRZ. It has a better ride also. The MX5 is faster and it feels faster. Yes the steering is much better on the BRZ most Mazda fans will be disappointed with the MX5 steering. The Mazda is a better drivers car for those that can fit. I cant. Four people his size can fit in the BRZ.
    Overall fair review. Not bad driving.

    • @ClutchKickOfficial
      @ClutchKickOfficial 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +fatboy19831 MX5 has a better ride because its springs are way softer so you get more body roll in the corners. It's more playful while the BRZ is more race car in how it handles corners, much more serious of a car.

    Just bought an 86 for 18k AUD and I couldn't be happier. It was really hard for me to decide between the 86 and Miata but in the end I just enjoyed the ride in the 86 just a little more. In this case, it doesn't matter what car you buy cause you'll have a great time either way.

    pretty good review. personally, The BRZ is the better car for all around to me.I like it's looks better, and the engine sound better than the miata. I've just never really been a fan of the miata, or Mazda at all. But, I do somewhat like the miata. Both cars are great for different styles, and fit different audiences.They're BOTH unique in their own way. Please no bashing.

    I would recommend an external clip on mic, or even mono beamforming mic attached to the camera if your camera can take one, either would be great. That and tell your camera man to secure the lens cover.... I could hear it banging against the camera housing every few seconds. Which in turn would drown your voice out. Other then that great review and comparison of the vehicles.

    I'm biased but to me the BRZ styling is much nicer.
    Also the seating position, steering feel, and balanced handling are ALL much better than in a Miata.
    You should have drove the Miata with the top up to show how really small it is unless you only plan to use it in the summer.....

    Really great videos.
    Suggestion for your comparison videos I suggest that you make a video to compare the two cars in terms of driving dynamics = shorter/ crisper video. You have seperate reviews on both of these cars. I felt like i was just watching two reviews instead of an actual comparison.

    I bought a Miata based on this review. I like the convertible down when having a relaxing drive at night with the wife. Yes, there is no right or wrong which cars get picked. Both get the stares and perform as sports cars.

  • @lawrencemeadonia7500
    @lawrencemeadonia7500 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    This review was very nicely done! But the two cars don't have much in common other than being lightweight and RWD, which is sadly a rare pairing. The BRZ/FRS is more of a one-car single's ride with usable room for storage and just enough power and handling to have some fun on occasion. Miatas are purely for fun and enjoying some sun. Unfortunately, that's why roadsters are a dying breed here in the USA.

    I like how he complements the Miata right from the start, while has driving the BRZ he actually talks about the Miata more, and of course while he's driving the Miata. Probably the most personal driven review I have ever seen. If you're going to do reviews, you might not want to show that, but that was a failure in this video.

    Waiting for the Fiat 124. The styling is a little more showy and...turbo. It'll only be a 1.4L Multiair engine (used in quite a few vehicles), but that still bumps the torque and hp up a good bit. Plus with aftermarket modding and especially E85, it will be a pretty good powerhouse. The 2.0L in the Miata would be the winner if one doesn't mind do internals and dropping compression.

  • @yikesvikes
    @yikesvikes 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Once again, the same problem arises once again: Doing a comparison between the BRZ/FRS, and the Miata . . . in the GT version, rather than the Club edition. Obviously, for a performance type of comparison, you'd want the Club, with better brakes, LSD, Bilstein struts, and the strut tower brace . . .

    • @HakeemKazak
      @HakeemKazak 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meh, it is a poor comparison anyways when it comes to the actual consideration since I'm sure most enthusiasts would not cross shop between the two. While they are indeed the only small RWD coupes available under $30 K the line will be quickly drawn at whether the enthusiast even wants a roadster. On pure performance/enjoyment think the Miata is a slight winner regardless of trim, obviously it has the benefit of having two less seats and no roof to add weight, but the practicality from the Toyobaru makes this no contest for most daily drivers..

    • @johntechwriter
      @johntechwriter 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From my reading, the Club spec's performance statistics compared with either the upmarket GT or the downmarket Sport, are only marginally better. And this makes sense, as they all share the same brilliant platform. I agree that a comparison with the BRZ is apples and oranges-buyers of one will not be interested in the other.

      u mean until they make the brz fast...lol miata is 0-60 in 5.8sec and brz is 0-60 in 6.5sec. For a sports car the brz is pathetic when it comes to speed but the exterior styling is perfect. Wish it was faster tho.

  • @ranjitprakash1986
    @ranjitprakash1986 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I got the FRS.. My personal choice is a fun sports car where intention to go fast is implied. The miata has a good design.. The body roll and punyness takes some sports car character away from it.

  • @recklesslyarrogant7242
    @recklesslyarrogant7242 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    The BRZ/FRS exterior was modeled after the Toyota 2000GT. Just thought you should know that. Subaru was the mechanical and Toyota was design and transmission with ththe D4S system.

    • @johntechwriter
      @johntechwriter 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just bought a 2019 Sport, in black. I think the Miata's lines make it badass in black, whereas a weaker design would just be invisible. I got the Sport because it had everything I need and nothing I don’t. (When I need lane departure warning, just shoot me.) Brembos and BBS wheels would be wasted on me - I’m nowhere nearly a good enough driver to push the limits of the base model Sport.

    I just recently purchased a berz and could not be happier with it. I was also in the market for the new miata, an ecoboost mustang, and a couple of other cars. Miata was WAY too small and in my opinion looked too feminine. The ecoboost just didn't sound good and the drive was a tad boring. The berz is fun to drive, looks good, and who cares about the interior honestly, it has the basics and that's enough for me.

      +rohanuva Wait till winter time and set your navigation for great falls national park VA. About 30 min of winding roads from Alington. Don't do it now you will be in 5 mph traffic. You can take 7 out to the Shenandoah national park. About 2 hours of winding roads. If you go on a weekday not much traffic. You must wait till spring. Leaf watchers are out now. it can snow cats and dogs at anytime in the winter. Many roads don't have guard rails or cell service.

      +Antoine Manley Definately the Miata! You won't care about going fast and you'll have a bigger grin driving normally on regular roads. In a BRZ you will constantly feel the need to drag race and you'll lose, especially against Dodge Grand Caravans..

    • @monsterous289
      @monsterous289 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +misamisatv Never had the feel or the need to drag race other cars. Sometimes I'll be next to a Carrera GT3 or a Lambo. We'll aknowledge eachother and I'll laugh my ass off as they speed ahead and show off. Really, the BRZ is an incredibly fun car, once you accept that nearly every sports car will kick dust in your face. My friends love what I can do with it, and I love the precise control and feel of it. Squeezing out every ounce the car can give is really exciting.

      I’ve had both and prefer cloth seats. They don’t absorb the heat of the sun and fry your ass on a hot day. And they do not deteriorate over time like leather. The cloth Mazda uses is indestructible-I had an N1 with 150k miles plus on the clock and those cloth seats still looked great.

    1 reason why the FRS/BRZ was an easy choice for me over the Miata: PRACTICALITY. The Miata doesn't even have a glove compartment! There's barely any room to fit groceries, and ONLY groceries, in the trunk. Good luck if you like to keep extra clothes, an emergency kit, and other junk back there.

    Can the roof on miata withstand rain/snow if I put it outside on a rainy/snowy day? I live in kansas, so i am talking about a decent amount of rain/snow fall.

      ahastar1141 Yeah but why? You can have fun in the car either way and the manual isnt really faster.

      +Jrion then buy the automatic and enjoy the boredom. Sports cars should be in manual in my opinion.

    Imagine how much faster the miata will be if mazda gave it a little more power (200-230hp)

  • @carbrickscity

    Test drove both today. The miata blows the FRS/BRZ away. Don't like the clutch on the FRS at all.

    If you want fun to drive - it has to be the MX-5. Not perfect but a real drivers car.

      There’s a video recently posted on TH-cam of a 2019 Miata Club doing a circuit of the Nurburgring. The car was driven by an expert, maybe a pro, and he caught and passed two Porches during his lap, one of them a Cayman. I too am a Porsche admirer but am aware that once you are able to drive fast enough to test the current Miata's limits, as this driver was able to do, you are going to be going faster than 95 percent of Porsche drivers.

    The big problem with the BRZ is the power delivery / torque curve of the enigne, it's just really bad.
    The MX-5 has a really big advantage there and is faster in every way. Also it's much cheaper where I live.

    • @ahastar1141
      @ahastar1141 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You give the brz between 220 and 250 hp, they would fly off the showroom floor even faster

    • @ahastar1141
      @ahastar1141 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      coffeeblak86 well dont get greedy now haha. I am just hoping when they refresh they add a performance model that actually ads some real performance. I dont know why they sell an sti model now with no real performance up grades under the hood. 50 hp is all I am asking.

    • @ahastar1141
      @ahastar1141 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      coffeeblak86 It seems like under powering has been a bit of a trend lately for subaru. I am mean their crostrek only has 140 HP. I think they would sell alot more if they bumped it up to between 180 and 200 HP however with the BRZ at 200 I could see that they didnt want to encroach on their performance car with a small compact suv/wagon. That wouldn't be good for the brand.
      I think they will keep the back seats for function even though its kinda pointless

    Great review. I love both cars. This would be an extremely hard choice. I heard he next generation of BRZ/FRS will be built on Mazda's Miata platform. That's sure to blur the lines between these two competing sports cars.
