Thank you for remembering the fire victims in California. I’m in Louisiana, USA, and we have certainly had our share of natural disasters, but it means so much to acknowledge the human struggle of a people. I love to read seasonally also. I appreciate that you buy used books and share them with us. I buy so many books that I prefer used unless it’s a very special edition.

Hooray for Gail Godwin novels!!!! Have enjoyed several of her works over the tears. I have several more in my inventory to enjoy.

It’s thanks to you that I started Gregory’s trilogy in December, and, accordingly, just finished Dawnlands. That conniving Livia! At the end of the trilogy I could feel that the shenanigans were far from finished. Thanks for your 2025 picks. Du Maurier’s book is now in my audiobook queue, and I’ll investigate more as time permits. Happy new year from Oregon.🎉

I love the fact that you have a huge shelf of TBR books which only encourages my acquisitional habits…….as well as us justifying the many tomes already accumulated

I loved that you said "to be read shelves" and not pile. I have a TBR 6 foot tall bookcase. Now that I'm retired I get to read all the time. I loved the Elly Griffith's books.

I am going to assume that by sub-zero you mean below 0c since you’re in the UK. I am in Ohio where it has been below freezing since January 1. Day or night we haven’t gotten above 32f and we are forecast to stay frozen for another week. Yesterday the sun came out long enough to melt some of the snow on my driveway but not long enough to dry up the water before it refroze. The county road crews have been doing a good job of plowing and salting so the main roads are clear but the side roads in neighborhoods are compacted snow and ice. I am ready for spring.
I have been enjoying watching people’s 2025 plans. I have some thoughts but I am a mood reader and don’t want to bog myself with strict plans. If I schedule too much of my year then it will take the fun out of reading. January is a third over, I have completed one, currently working on two, and have six more on this month’s tbr. Something tells me I will not get to all of them. Oh, well.

I have read A week in Paris by Rachel Hore. I really enjoyed it :D Though i had some points of critic as well.
I am curious what you are thinking of it :)
I am also curious why you have some books laying on their side in the bookcase ? :)
Two books i would recommend and i think you might like are : The seven deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton and The midnight library by Matt Haig.

I read seasonally too. And do the exact same thing you do.
