      Massively, I remember thinking these years ago. It's like as the world was changing I wasn't surprised because this game introduced those ideas into my mind when I was young. Crazy

      I always saw mgs2 sticking out from all the rest. Films in the US at that time never had that depth then this game did. It was like a barrier and this game opened up more then anything. It was interesting for years but didnt know what that was but stayed at the back of my mind. 2021 it alright now but 2016-2020 was sure a polerising years. It's a brilliant game with hinted implications.

    Let's just not forget how amazing of a villain Solidus was. A character with depth who had a kinda relatable purpose despite his very evil ways, written long before this whole trend of empathetic villains we now see in Hollywood. The voice acting by John Cygan (R.I.P.) only made him even greater.

    • @shareofmoney

    • @MrJIR93
      @MrJIR93 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm not so sure honestly, the closest thing that MGS has to a big bad villain would be Liquid or the Patriots AI, but Liquid died in Solid and calling the AI a villain is reaching because the only thing they do is react and follow patterns. Solidus was a "hero" in the same way Big Boss and the Patriots were, crossing all lines in order to "save the world" and given the themes of the series if Solidus had actually succeeded the only thing he would have done would be creating another Outer Heaven and that would just repeat the events of the original Metal Gear

    One of THE most ingenious things I've never seen in any genre of games due!!!! In the middle of and intensity playing the game there is a point were in the game one had to call a freiequency that labeled only in the back of the actual case that holds the disk of the game itself. The time is so limited in the actual actions that there is no time to look it up while playing. No other game had done that. Not to mention the last few boss fight where one would have to actually get up and switch ports of the controller on thier own Playstation, system just to beat the boss. No game has ever done that before. And still to this day No game challenges that to that level of difficulty. I will give credit where credit is due. "Sons Of Liberty" deserves credit because it left a lasting impression on me. I'm thankful for that.

    It was expensive back in that time but definitely title worth of owning.

    I was at E3 the year the trailer was shown to the public, and it's really hard to express just how big of a deal it was at the time... I actually had to go do a quick search of what the big companies showed off that year, and there are a few things I remember thinking back that might seem like a joke, but it's not.
    1. Sega had crap covered crap with crap filling. Seriously, space channel 5, samba di amigo, shenmue (sorry, but it isn't good)? I liked the dreamcast, but resident evil wasn't enough to keep it alive.
    2. Nintendo would've absolutely won E3 with Conker alone (if not for MGS) the trailer was a big hit, and they gave out CBFD beer mugs w/ beer while you watched it (still have the mug!) Part of me wishes it ended up on GC, but it eventually showed up on XB, so it's cool.
    3. Nobody else will care, but working designs had a cool little booth showing Lunar 2 for PS1, and I was really excited for it. Lunar 1 and 2 are in the top 10 best RPGs of all time, and WD was one of the last companies to go out of their way to make all their releases feel like Christmas. They went far beyond what anyone else was doing, and I hope they know how much some people appreciated their work. (Excuse me... I have something in my eye)
    4. Ok, MGS 2... I'm sure you can find endless accounts from people saying how people showed up every hour to watch the trailer, how great the graphics were, blah blah blah. You don't understand... PEOPLE SHOWED UP EVERY HOUR TO WATCH THE TRAILER!!! At first there were maybe 30-40 people, the second showing had 100, and it just kept growing each hour until the floor was completely covered (everyone was sitting down from being tired of walking all day). I think I went back 5 times to watch it, and that's saying a lot because these were the E3s where they gave out great stuff, and wasted time meant less free stuff! They put text on it that said "in game graphics", but there were definitely some doubts, it looked like CGI and really didn't seem like it was possible!
    If MGS 2 wasn't shown, things would've probably turned out to be very different! The PS2 showing was a complete bomb (except for MGS)! People were joking about how bad the games looked, there was nothing exciting... Sony should be blowing Konami for the foreseeable future based on what they did for them. We would be living in a world where Dreamcast 5 was the hot shit if MGS 2 didn't hit PS2, without a doubt.

      @@Omar_E11 Mgs5 was great and all but the level of quality and attention to detail in mgs2 was beyond its time. The guards were unpredictable, thorough, when they investigate, you know that you fell on thin ice. They even do status reports! It was horrifying when you thought it was gonna be easy when you knock the guy in your way then suddenly the radio goes off with “why are you late with your status report” then they send in a clearing squad. The different level of alert phase was mind blowing. I could go on all day.

    Most who played the game know if you knock out a guard when playing in the hardest difficult mode, and that guard wakes up it would be an automatic alert. Which affects the grade of completing the game stealthy. That's just going through the game without offing anybody including boss fights to unlock the ultimate actual hardest mode.
