    Oh no Rev,I didn't know that my comment on the last video was going to put you in the same situation,just with old parts.🤣 And I have the same fear with brake lines. Even my 99 Dodge Ram rear brake lines broke. Replaced with some NiCop lines and be done with it. I have to replace all my brake lines on my 75 Ford Gran Torino. The most unenjoyable part. I am holding off hoping for some help. We have someone in our local church that can help but waiting for him to not be so busy. And your welcome and an honor to watch your videos.

    If you are interested, a self bleeder is easy and cheap to build for yourself. All you need is some kind of a small (about 1 pint in size to allow for flushing/changing a cars brake fluid when needed) clear non-breakable plastic jar with a lid (clear so you can see inside it for fluid level and/or air bubbles) a length of clear hose that is the right size to snugly fit on the bleeder screw without falling off. Make this hose long enough to put the jar in a spot where it is easily visible and is above the height of the wheel cylinder so air bubbles go up the hose to the jar. (I like having a strong hanging hook that is made of stiff wire such as coat hanger wire that snugly wraps around the jar below the ring just below the threads the cap screws onto so the jar can not fall out of the hanger if I don’t want to use the stand I made for it. I like having a small portable stand that I can hang it from that I can move from wheel to wheel and places the jar at a height and in a location that I can see the jar from inside the car and the jar can be removed from the stand when needed. (I actually have 2 different stands in one - 1 with a removable wide base to hold the elevated jar stable on concrete or ledge rock surfaces, and with the base removed the stand has a sharp point I can poke into the ground if I am working in an area that is uneven dirt. The hose goes through a hole in the lid that is a tight enough fit to keep the hose in place with the end of the hose being near the bottom of the jar so it stays well below (about 1 inch) the surface of brake fluid that is poured into the jar to create a trap to prevent air from being drawn back into the hose as the brakes are pumped and air is forced into the hose and to the jar yet this fluid in the jar is low enough to allow for fluid from bleeding the brakes until all air in the brakes is gone and only fluid is coming out of the wheel cylinder. The jar lid also has a 2nd hole in it that is a vent to let air out so fluid and air from the cars brakes can enter the jar without being pushed back into the wheel cylinder from the jar. This hole I screw a bleeder screw into so it freely vents but when not in use the hose is cooled up and twist tied and h we lid in coils and the end of the hose is put over this bleeder screw to hold the hose in place and prevents the fluid from leaking out of it. I’m sorry for the long drawn out explanation of this setup but when I am overly tired I tend to babble and ramble on.

      I have made one of those before... They are great at not making a mess... I was talking in the video about the ones that are pressurized and they suck the fluid out... Thank you for the comment, God Bless!

    Just a suggestion some of those heavy duty latex gloves like Diamond grip can be
    reused multiple times and save allot of scrubbing those hands that's what I like to use
    but just passing along some tips, also if you scratch a bar of Lava soap or other soap before
    starting it goes under the finger nails and makes them easy to clean up afterwards. Love
    the channel keep up the good work.

      Every time that I use the latex gloves.. my hand sweats and causes my fingers to look like prunes and then without a doubt the springs will grab and pop a whole in the gloves... Then I still gotta wash em up... Thanks for the suggestion but it don't work for me.. Thanks for watching...

    You don’t have to buy a brake bleeder, Just a hose and soda/water bottle. Fill bottle with brake fluid drill out hole in cap big enough for the the hose to pull it through. Make it long enough to go to the bottom of bottle. Other end of hose to slip over your bleeder. Loosen bleeder start pumping. Air bubbles gone.

    Take it the generator still isn't working from your comments. The driver door is question mark, but know my galaxie's just needed yanked out the doors and soaked in kerosene, wire brushed and re-greased with white lithium to work again. The dash controls have bezel rings behind the knob, and will require you soak that light switch before getting to the ring to pull the control out from behind. Hope you find a good set somewhere because re-made ones are costly to buy. Great seeing progress on the old girl. Have the Mrs pick you up some wiper blades next time she gets to town. Gotta replace my windshield, and choked when they told me the price. Good evening and God Bless You & Yours.

    There is a trick of getting the wheel cylinders off if the brake line nut wants to twist the line and what you do is undue the wheel cylinder bolts that hold it to the backing plate pull it out and away from the plate hold the nut with a wrench or vice grips and turn the wheel cylinder off instead of the nut and just turn the new wheel cylinder back on the same way and that way you won't snap the brake line and have to deal with that big mess and you still can replace the wheel cylinder.

      @@jmcfaddenb Not a problem, I appreciate the help. The truck didnt come with a key so I had to drill out the old ignition tumbler and install a new tumbler but the housing is the old one. I need to go in and look through the mess of wires in the dash because the previous owner pulled the clusters out and I see a lot of cut and spliced wires all over. The strange thing is, I replaced the starter solenoid yesterday and now the one dash light I had no longer works. So I am sure its going to be a lot of slow careful work checking all the wiring.

    • @RevStoration
      @RevStoration  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would delete the ignition wire from the cab... hot wire from the positive side of the battery to the coil... Then jump it at the solenoid and that would tell you it is the ignition switch.. if she fires.... Thanks for watching..
