    Great looking knives. If the jigging was more swerving like worm groves it would have been better, but it's not bad. I'm hooked on them & I don't even fish anymore 🐠.I just received a Sunfish that I have seen in the background one of your videos. It's a turquoise fish pattern by kissing crane.

    I purchased a couple of these knives off Cutlery Corner earlier this year, in the buffalo horn and blue jigged bone patterns. I really like them, even if due to the blade etch I'd never use them. And yeah, even in 2022 the boxes still said "Canoe" knife on them.

      Cutlery Corner at its finest. And yeah, I also buy from them occasionally. For what these are, they are pretty good. Thanks for watching!

    I don't think I would use that knife either. That etching is really neat looking and I'd hate to mess it up! Thanks for the look at this one, buddy. The elephant on the blade is really cool.

    I have a couple of the elephant toenail pattern knives, one is this exact OR model with the same scales. It is a knife that I sometimes carry and use. Though as nails and always cuts. The pull is still strong on the main blade. I enjoy the half stops. The etching shows some wear. I like the pattern a lot. The second one that I have has buffalo horn scales. Good fit and finish on the two that I have. Thanks for your insight on the patterns. - Tennessee Smoky

      It's a fun knife. Thanks for the info on the blade etch holding up. I've been afraid to use it much for fear of screwing it up.

    Think that is an interesting pattern. Like the regular etch better. Always appreciate the information you give on each chat.

    Dig the dark grey background etch. So it's a surface etching not a deep relief etch, which would be better for all. Nice one 👍 Tobias

    When it comes to brown bone handles I actually prefer the two/tone dark over light.
    One of my favorites!

    It kind of reminds me of a teflon coating that they spray on a frying pan. I definitely like the sunfish etching much more.

    Ocoee Elephan toe knives are actually quite nice in my opinion. I do kind of like the jigging, as it wear in your pocket, it will likely look pretty sweet :) I have a video coming out in a few weeks on a red jigged bone Ocoee River elephant toe, that has a really cool jigging pattern. Thanks for showing me this one partner!

      The knife itself is pretty solid. I'm just disappointed in the etch which has no chance of life if the knife is used even lightly. But I can see myself getting another OR Sunfish.

    I saw this on Cutlery Corner a few days ago and came close to ordering. After seeing your video, I think I'll pass. Worrying about ruining that etch -- even if I didn't actually use it -- is a deal-breaker. As you say, that is the main selling point of this knife. "Three-year old with a dremel tool" -- LOL. Thanks for the review. :)

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias
      @KnifeChatswithTobias  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it was pretty disappointing. Looked a lot better on the tube! I try to remain even handed in all my reviews, pointing out the flaws but not harping to loudly. But even at the price paid, the etch should be more permanent. It's like buying a great work of art only to find out its done on an etch sketch. Don't turn it upside down and shake it!

    Is it worth buying? shure it is, you have to for the collection. Use it? hell no the etching is just to delicate. buy 2 use one? I think I would. Very nice video, again. can"t wait untill the next one, maybe favourite christmass knives?...

  • @KnifeDetector
    @KnifeDetector 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I would also be tempted not to use it with such a beautiful etch! I might just buy two, one to use, and one to gaze upon :) I don't think that there is a coating that will protect it if it's being used.

    Tobias, just before you said jigging by a 3 year old with a dremel, I was think rope jigging. I like your idea better, you made me chuckle.

    I have the mini version of your knife. It has what you called a lazy half stop. Appropriate description. However its a feature that I'm not a fan of. I guess all of their elephant toe type knives have that. Good video, sir.

    If you enjoy collecting Elephant Toenails; why not look into having the blade and the covers engraved on one you choose from your collection. Now days there are lots of small business that do laser engraving. Paying for something you want is better than waiting to find one you might like. Might be worth looking into.

      @@KnifeChatswithTobias What I like most about what you present on your videos is the diversity of the knives and tools you present. Most knife collecting channels tend to not show and explain the history of knife patterns and much of the story about why they were or were not important. Sometimes seeing the failures is as important as the successes. Thank you for your kind reply

      @@r.murray6549 and I’ve a shed load of stuff to film too... 6 more TEWs, a Moki, an MKT, a CRK, some Wrights, a couple of other Sheffields and some other stuff too. I’ve just been really busy with other stuff. The only videos I’ve done have been on Facebook, and there’s not a knife bin sight there. Should you venture over there, I wont be showing any knives, but you can rest assured there’ll be something very decent in at least one pocket!
