Definitely one of the finest my money can buy! Lovely knife. I still have to get an Elephant's toenail, my only Rough Ryders are a trapper and a Sowbelly lockback. Thank Petey!

They have a few that aren’t tacticool mall ninja style.

As I was looking at the video I thought of the same thing, blades would look better in plain finish, but the logo and green scales are really nice.

Yeah I’m gonna strip them down. It is actually a really well made, beautiful knife aside from the zombie gimmick. Once I do that and fix the minor QC issues she will be stunning.

Unlawful to sell in the UK on account of the zombie branding. Yup - we can't have green knives. Based on my experience of a nearly identical but non zombie-capable model, I'd say these are pretty much born to slice refractory fibrous materials across the grain. Wouldn't surprise me if their nautical popularity was due to their suitability for dealing with Irish twist tobacco as much as with ropes. Shame about the blade rap - mine had the opposite problem of the main blade sitting high, so I guess setting the kicks just right isn't Rough Rider's strong suit.

They clearly filed the kick to get the blade to sit lower but it could come up about 1/16” and still clear.

Very interesting detail about ability to cut rope, don’t remember that in my navy training. Might be handy when your being keel hauled.

Yeah I don’t know if that applies as much on modern ships but on old sail boats they had a lot of ropes and the belaying pins to bop them with.

    Curious youngest here.
I just now am getting into sunfish knifes.
    Been curious about the history.
Can anyone tell me if the rough rider zombie nick knife is a rare find?
I keep seeing them on Amazon and other places for dirt cheap.
I'd imagine they aren't tht cheap

Indeed. They probably would have replaced this one but my patience was lacking. That Wenger Champion is one of my absolute favorites and one of the best SAKs I have owned so far.

Rough rider equals Rough knives? These things are S+++! They are classic paterns coppied'English rope knife'? Try hitting that to cut an inch thick rope, i bet it will? but i guess you can always throw it over board afterwards! What's left of it! You are right though if you want to try out a pattern first it's a good way to go!

They’re solidly built. Everyone I see that uses them loves them. It’s not the same as an original but it would do the job. Thing is built like a tank.

Guess they are cheap in the US! They are no so here in UK ! As ive said before you can get a Spartan for Rough rider bucks here or even a Climber . The 1897 Officier Suisse is now sold out here in Europe £360! They were gone before the listing was posted in UK site? Victorinox have done it again bloody limited runs.
