Great video, Kamon. You know how to make a man want a watermelon. Going to get me one or two. We get our good watermelon from Hermiston, Oregon. Thanks
This video has such a David Attenborough feel to it I felt I had to stay quiet while I watched. I will plant water melon next year just because. cheers
I am lucky my neighbor grows pumpkins watermelons and soy beans and we do do alfalfa hay fruit and wild flowers of different varieties always in bloom and are close to forest for a good flow in spring and fall
Okay just have to say great informative video. But I’ve never heard of Owensboro Indiana. My dad’s family lives in Rockport Indiana which is just above where you were filming. Owensboro is across the river in Kentucky. I’ve driven past those sandy fields for years when I was growing up on our visits to my Grandparents. I’ll have to ask my dad about Owensboro Indiana. Keep up your great work.
Interesting...I have a good population of bumblebees around my apple orchard. They work earlier in the day and in cooler wetter weather than my honeybees.
Very interesting about the Bumblebees, so the imported Bumbles kill the native locals? With out our Honey bees the World starves. Thanks Kamon and everyone, great video.
Kamon what bumblebee were those. Are they importing European yellow striped ones that are used for close spaces here ? They are actually nicely spread where l am and make good competition in early spring at the start... good one on Ian 😅
😂 I just love the fact that you couldn't resist a dig at a certain Canadian beekeeper 😂 I better be careful or the lord of the rings jokes will start up my way😂 cool video 👍 it's always interesting to see the end game of something beekeepers are involved in right at the beginning when the fruit flowers. Bumble bees just can't compete with a decent strong pollination colony except in greenhouses and glasshouses where it's a confined space, and there are fruit growing orchardists in central Otago who are experimenting with enclosed orchard blocks so maybe bumblebees are for them. I have a small cherry fruit grower near one of my new apairys this year and he doesn't have to get bee's put in his orchard because my bee's pollinate his trees for free😂😂 it's a win win as far as I'm concerned, I get his pollen and he gets his fruit pollinated without expenses 😃👍
Lol! Ian is too fun to pick on! Absolutely, bees teach us that when we work we should bring value to others on the path to adding value to ourselves. Thanks for watching and Happy Beekeeping!
I have honeybees in 5 different yards but I always see way more bumblebees on plants than honeybees.bumblebees are way better pollinators than honeybees in my opinion
Awesome video. A few years ago, a couple friends of mine got me interested in beekeeping (th-cam.com/video/huM2OcEuCPU/w-d-xo.html ). Unfortunately, the place I was renting at the time had no place for hives, and even though I now have a house, I live in town and don't have room on my property for a hive. However, with flowerbeds around my house, I'm in the process of clearing out all the overgrown crap in them so that I can replant flowers and other stuff that are supposed to be good for bees into what I've heard referred to as a chaos garden so that bees in my neighborhood will have a place to come and get what they need.

You are the first guy I have seen that cared about the native bee so much your a great man not worried all about profit
Two thumbs up for the editor... Lookin like Hollywood. Keep doing great and have a nice fall. Stay blessed
Thank you! I did this one without Laurel!
How cool to have bumblebee hives! I would love to have a couple of those to learn with❤️
Brilliant insight to the industry thanks, from UK
Thanks Martindale! I am curious though, what kind of Watermelons do you have over there?
Great vid! Amazing what’s involved in bringing good food to the table, from seeds to pollination and the work to make it happen!

Kamon’s Public Broadcasting, KPB. I liked learning about the operation

Picking and sorting melons used to be an American job 😂 "They took our jobs!" "Thank God."

What a great video! So informative and entertaining. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and for letting us know you enjoyed it!
Wow! Great video!! I’m going to have to keep my eye on Ian’s channel to hear his response! Too funny😂
Many decades ago one of my many jobs was pitching melons in the summers of Floriduh. Jubilee was the worst variety at ~60 lbs.
Double great video! One of the other sides of beekeeping.
Many thanks and Roll TIDE!
Awesome video
What a great educational video !!!
Thanks Lori! 🤗
Great video about pollination. I’m a fan of your videos in the beeyard but this was a nice deviation.
Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! I thought I would try spicing it up!
I love and respect the bumble bees they are very cool too
Yep, but you'll sure feel it if they sting you. They're not messing around. I had no idea one could purchase bumblebees, but now I know.
Great video I really enjoyed it
Thanks for sharing 👍 too cool 😊
Thanks for saying so Brian! Have a great weekend
What does Watermelon Honey taste like? Wonderful Video Mr. Reynolds!
Hi Robin! Watermeon honey is darker with a taste of cinnamon and clove I think. Makes me think of fall. The bees don't make much of it though.
So cool Kamon.

I luvs watermelon w/salt. Good video. Thanks.
Watermelons and cantaloupes are grown here in Missouri, and they use those buses as well. I pitched melons when I was a teenager for $4 an hour.
That was an awesome video! It was very informative and well done!
Very interesting, Thanks for making the video.
That’s cool I’m gonna start bumble bees too

Kamon, great video! I love your narrator voice. Look out for NatGeo!
You are too kind. It would take a lot of work to get me to that level! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Very interesting!
Do they have to spray much, I grow a few melons in my garden but have wondered if the melon fields require much spraying? 😂You and Ian.🤣
they do spray a bunch!
Do the bees do ok with the spraying or what should we do to protect them while pollinating watermelons?
I wish he would have talked about how he handles the chemicals that are applied to melons.
Ian don’t let him talk shit 😅😂😂😂 hey Kamen how do you guys get drunk off that water down beer you guys get 😂
Great video!
One fantastic video
Thanks!

I am from Europe (Netherlands) and this is the first time I ever saw a yellow watermelon, so those aren't really common in Europe.
Good to know! What kinds do you grow?
@@kamonreynolds I don't grow them, I just consume them, but all red, never seen yellow, didn't even know yellow existed.
Great video! No summer dearth around there. I have a pumpkin patch near me, are there any concerns for pesticides?
