*Bethesda was forced to evolve Fallout 76 & yes, Wastelanders is a step in the right direction... although many issues remain like bugs & the horrendous greedy monetization.*

So you imply that they can pull a No Man's Sky? Given how buggy their games are and how shoddy their responses were in the past I can't give them that much credit. Still tracking Fo76 because I don't want the series to fail and for what it is, it's great comedy most of the time. So glad I skipped it.
Great work Michael! Love it! Wisconsin
Its difficult to say for certain what Fallout 76 will become. Its attempting a comeback but still, many huge problems remain like monetization which has only gotten worse with time. So time will tell. The potential is there but this is Bethesda we're talking about, expect the unexpected.
1 hour wtf
LegacyKillaHD Good to see you back. I started wondering what happened
"Entirely online" = "Online only"
Really tried to avoid that spicy phrase didn't he?
PR-speak is a cancer in this buisness.
Or: "Allways Online"
@bethesda : I played fallout 3 and experienced bugs. so many bugs. also extreme stuff,
enemies blind, enemies ultra sensitive to noise and movement, they fall from the sky they appear from under you.
they can be friendly, you might tell them lies, and they get overdoses and go on rampage. you just never know.
"is this a bug or a feature?" you'd never know. so many cheats, infinite ammo infinite trading, infinite storage, ifinite settlement space, infinite water,
be careful or you will be overpowered and will ruin the game
where else do you find such mess, this apocaliptic gameplay, and flow. and inside an apocaliptic environment. its a masterpiece of kronenberg evil
. you will be trapped inside a buiding full of enemies and no ammo, health or save points around
you will be stomped to death or shot on sight if you dare to say the wrong thing
your gun will jam midfight and youll die, you will run out of V-RAM in 1 hour and die of lagg before finding a bed
did i mention that your friends will shoot you on sight if you dont treat them correctly and respectfully?
you might even skip 2 or 3 hours of gameplay if you tell them a lie or convince them of something
and get legendary loot for it.
you might get a mission passed for killing the very guy that gave you that mission
you might get a mission failed for doing what the quest tells you and not following the circumstantial evidence
Why am i talking about fllout3? because fallout 4 and 76 are just a fallout 3 re-skin
You will die because a dead enemy keeps punching and refuses to die, you might do 95% of a quest just to discover it's not fully coded into the game
and it's not really possible to accomplish it without physycally modifiyng yourself the game. It has hardware problems, using the frame count as
a clocksource is unreliable, the engine writes/erases 40MB a second, so only 1% of the population can run this game, you need to restart the game
every hour or so, creating gameplay errors, like: unreachable savepoints, unreachable settlements in trouble. You will blow up to a frag while you are
inside a hovercraft then reload and restart on that very same spot and die to that same frag, in a perpetual loop of death, -welcome to 1995- where there
was a thing called GAME OVER. Your friends will throw you molotovs, they will throw you nuclear bombs, they will step in front of you while you are shooting,
then get angry at you for shooting them, they will run and stand up in the middle of a street during close combat (I've met 9 year old kids with better
combat skills than piper). It's so unreliable and unexpected. 99 hours of silence and nothing then something scarres you, and it'll scare you in real life.
You will run for your life, you will have to run and jump and dodge random stuff. You might have to prepare during days to do 1 tiny thing.
I like theese scenarios with no dialogue, it's just a scene and you get the narrative while you process the crimescene, and a couple of months later you might
find a second part of that story somewhere else. You might find out secrets if you can decode the narrative involved in theese crimescenes.
The bits that run, run good. The quests that are 100% coded are impressive, fallout might be heroically rewarding or galactically annoying all in the same
day. This is not a game it's a warning.
"16 times the detail" (Yes this comment is long but that's just what I think and ya) Bethesda/ companies should know that the consumer's are always right ans if the company's don't listen too We the consumer's we'll pull the plug and not support it and if games are delayed that means there getting worked on but there's pressure all around especially on the development teams and Fallout 76 is just an attempted example of a quick cash grab and rushed game. But know the future might seem skeptical it's looking a lot better than it was 2 years ago. I've never played Fallout or Fallout 76 but what's been done with Wastlanders is looking promising with the plot, charcters, and overall story/ feeling of the game, there's still bugs (like npc's taking a players rare and most powerful weapon). Fallout 76 looked promising 2 years ago and even with all the bugs, glitches, hate, and frustration, who can blaim the people that bought the game and essentially got baited but those who stuck around are kind of finally getting recognized and upgraded with new stuff. But what I was trying to say is that I love the world that Bethasda created of a West Virginian fallout new creatures, places, and even some lore if there was a storyline similar to Fallout 4 where you could choose the endings that would be pretty juicy "Perison: Another settlement needs your help" where West Virgina can either become: rebuilt with a new government (similar to the U.S. government backed by gold at first then gdp 3 branches andit's counties essentially states sord of, until one dat the U.S. government comes back while also doing government stuff (like rebuilding roads, eduction, hospitals, law enforcement and fire/ police and military being also local militias) but staying in the middle not too big or small, Anarchied: the enture landscape of Appalachia is a hellscape war is everywhere are just when everything's about too go to shit everyone dies from the illness from the radioactive bats, or choice 3 - the task difficult but also rewarding at the end either set up advanced but humane fallout vaults in 13 of the original states and then move on too all 50 states including guardians of eden while also puting a government in each vault elected legislatively and not some creepy person staring forcing people to do weird experiments and make these vaults the temporary center for industry and one day using those resources to rebuild America, or say fuck it I'm going out west to the Mid-West or Texas..
Okay bethesda is obviously a trash company but you guys are kind of retarded if you misinterpreted "Entirely online" with anything other than online play..
"I didn't lie, the plans changes".
"It's not false advertisement, the product changed and we just conveniently never told you any of the *planed* changes! So pay us now!"
They all had the flu...
Their copypasta dragons should have been enough for blind fangirls to see that BGS hates making real video games when Angry Birds was making more and had zero intention of doing anything more than making this a soulless, ip-themed macrotransaction-riddled wallet siphon - which are still in there. Still a scam regardless of how many eNpEEsEEEEeeeS they add.
funny how this kind of bs is actually working elsewhere
If you're honest you be transparent and admit when the plan changes. You don't lie until you're backed into a corner then try to guilt the people who rightfully called you out.
Lol still lying though since you told one thing an did another. His lies work as well as this games do on release
Bethesda's company motto should be "There was potential here."
Lol
"But it is gone now"

"16X the detail....It Just Works..." That's all that needs to be said about Todd Howard.... Oh and let's not forget their "Free"mium gambling addicts game, Fallout Shelter!
Duhbghaill only now?
I love how he compares a massive AAA title release and live service plan to a failed visit to Chuckee Cheeses.
I was there during the great canvas shortage. Never forget.

I miss being excited for Fallout 4's release.
I miss having faith in Bethesda.
I miss Fallout.
I was super hyped for fallout 4. And it was a huge dissapointment. I gave up on the series after trying that game.
I dont even have any big expectations for the next Elder scrolls anymore
I was so fucking excited for fallout 4 that it makes me mad. What an absolute waste of potential. The positive is that it got me to check out fallout 1&2. Gotta say i I genuinely prefer the old-school tabletop feel of their mechanics (not to mention the sprite animations are seriously impressive and the stop motion talking heads are so damn cool in concept and execution) over OOO SHINY PRETTY 3D GRAPHICS!
@@SimonRobeyns Same, loved 3 and NV and happily wasted over 1K hours in the wasteland, 4 ended up kinda lame but i still had hopes they would turn things around, make Fallout 5 and it would be good....then they announced an multiplayer PvP Fallout game and all hope was lost.
Fallout should stay single player although a Borderlands style co-op could be added and not impact the final game, the PvP they ended up with is a mess that looks like rotting speghitti covered in battery acid.
@@clownworldhereticmyron1018 most of the "fallout fans" only know fallout 3--->76. It saddens me to know how much these people are missing out.
I was excited for FO4 too. I heard the rumors that it would barely be a RPG, but I still had faith. I WANTED this game to be a good Fallout RPG. But I only ended up being disappointed and uninstalling the game after a few hours.
No amount of top-notch mods can make a casual open-world FPS a true RPG, neither can it fix a bad story and a horrendous dialogue and skill system...
But I decided to play the classic Fallout games shortly after, so at least there's this.
Although it only adds to my disappointment and delusionment in the end, because we'll never have another good Fallout RPG...
They really wouldve made more money and avoided a mess by just remastering 3 and vegas and sell them together as a bundle
True
kobra6660 what we really need during these times
Are you dreaming, they won't bundle them, heck they will go Square Enix route and do a remake in parts without telling you and then after backlash they'll blame Square Enix.
Better yet: allow us to play Fallout 1 and 2 in 3D. They don't even need to change the story, just upgrade graphics and make the 3D combat work
The safest corporate option was to release the bare minimum and maximize profit, which was exactly what they did. Of course it didn't end up working so well for them, but the sheer amount of people willing to buy into any piece of crap just because it has a popular name on it is quite shocking. Bethesda knows this, and that's why they did it.

Lol I thought the same thing but most likely he would just excuse it once again as changing their minds. His excuses are bullshit and they cant own up to screwing over the customer.
It just works! Lol
@@AmazingKevinWClark He clearly doesn't understand the difference between choice and circumstancial limitations. He thinks getting sick, which prevents you from something, is the same thing as "changing your mind". The latter is lying, which is what they did over and over.
@@AmazingKevinWClark I know, right? "Coming down with the flu" is not a suitable metaphor for "changing your mind". They were the ones making the game. The decisions were up to them, and they *chose* to do stuff they said they wouldn't.
"I know we said we were making orange juice, and all the stores bought up this product wrongly thinking that it would be orange juice at the time of release. Plans changed though, so we released water with orange food colouring - Which we believe is what the people were really wanting all along, sure there are people who like orange flavour, and vitamins - but those are not as many as were pining for water with orange food colouring." "We will be releasing supplementary powders for our orange colour and water mixture, that we like to call orange juice - that will improve the taste! For an additional charge, we offer stickers of life like oranges to paste onto the container of orange food colouring and water!"
Hell, that was closer to Fallout 4 - they just never released much powder for it, third party groups did that for free. Fallout 76 was just the food coloring in a mostly empty container. They've released a separate 'on request' bottle of water to add in at this rate.
Hurlbutt that's a funny name. It's like a play on "haul ass" - time hurl butt everyone!
@@FinneousPJ1 my vocabulary just enbiggened.

Miyamoto: "A delayed game may be good, a rushed game will forever be bad."
Todd Howard: "It's not how you launch it's what it becomes."
Difference in ideologies from old-school to new-age AAA companies. Hell even OG Blizzard (guys who launched WoW) used to believe in Miyamoto's ideology now look at them... Sad.
Both mindsets are a product of their times. A game like No Man's Sky couldn't have become as good as it became if it were released twenty years ago. In addition nobody remembers the games that were worked on but never released because the studio ran out of money before they got a good game. Even then, a delayed game 'may' be good.
Not all delayed games will be good, just like how not all rushed games will be bad.
No mans sky came back from the depth, but they actually gave a shit and tried
Yeah but games back then may have had bugs or oversights, and you got no way of fixing them, now in the online era you can release a patch to fix issues until game becomes good
Look at ff6 where the evasion stat didnt do anything, they had to rerelease it for gba to fix the bugs
A rushed game that comes out bad can be just fine if the dev sticks with it and updates. There are a plethora of games like this.
Seeing it again, Bethesda's VP is so salty about being called a liar when he clearly is. Compares his customers to his kids and his product as "plans". He thinks he can simply "change" whatever he wants with his product and say things "change" as if he sees his customers as easy to trick children. Absolutely deluded.
that's exactly what he believes, and his actions denote that.
All the while they tried to prevent customers from getting refunds when the products don't turn out according to the plan. Shameless.
yes, absolutely ridiculous comparison which makes no sense when you think about it without being overly empathetic with this apparently wrongly insulted Bethesda exec. Any parent would say that if you fail to uphold a promise such as bringing your children to Chuck E Cheese due to exterior influences such as sickness, you apologise to those children and just move the date - therefore it's not breaking it, just delaying (unless that parent runs around looking for sick people to get infected simply to get out of taking his kids to said place). That's why people didn't call the delay of _Wastelanders_ a lie and accepted their decision.
When talking about implementing previously *unplanned* (as they themselves claimed it was) monetisation, calling it different circumstances is just so dishonest, since he and Todd are execs of the company, which means they are in control and they decide when the circumstances shift. If the Bethesda HQ had been hit by a tornado, for instance, and they needed funds to rebuild people appreciating their product would help them. They, however, simply changed a "no" into a "yes" for no other reason than greed. Absolutely deserving of the title liar, maybe even deceiver :D
Yeah, his analogy would be a lot closer if he had made his son pay him $50 to take him to chucky cheese, and then refused to give him the money back when "plans changed".
Getting the flu and having to cancel plans is waaaaaay different from "We aren't going to take the pay-to-win route" to "buy this to wi--I mean--make your gameplay easier". This is two different situations.
16x the lies.
16x the bugs, it's what you asked for right?
Todd Howard = "It Just Works"
Bethesda are a bunch of basTURDS!
Who the hell is blaming the game that come for free with the PS4 controller? This not a AAA title sold for 60$ from some giant studio. You are asking too much!
WE NEED 24X THE GREEDY MONETIZATION
And now Bethesda had managed to make Mick Gordon leave Doom. GOOD JOB BETHESDA
Next doom maybe become full multiplayer and they remove demons because the doom slayer is the main protag and players can make their story :^)
So we can assume doom is never coming back?
Sometimes it BEthesda that way.
Mick Gordon has not left Bethesda.
@@wisemankugelmemicus1701 He said himself that it was "unlikely" he would work with them on future projects. Them being both ID and Bethesda.
"Repair kits are pay for convenience..."
Clearly the developers designed the weapon degradation system with a specific goal in mind. If that goal was to make the gameplay better, then it would not be desirable to have an item that removes that gameplay element. On the other hand, if the goal was to create a problem and sell a solution, then the developers literally made the gameplay worse on purpose.
You know, in the real world, creating a problem and selling a solution is a felony called racketeering. You know, like the Mafia goons that beat up local business owners then sell them "protection" from their own goons. It's not just unethical, it's illegal. I'm surprised people haven't filed FTC complaints on Bugthesda for pulling crap like this.
@@Tybron Pay for convenience microtransactions are much more subtle than the traditional types of racketeering, but you're right, it _is_ a racket.
I think the real world comparison is more like , now that you have acquired a taste for their ice cream. Instead of having to do what it takes to store their ice cream at your home.
You now expect them to deliver it for free to suit your whims of when you want it calling them almost criminal for not doing that. When there is nothing wrong with them making an ice cream delivery business model , for people who couldn't be bothered to store ice cream in their freezer.
Weapon degradation would also be dependent on how many bullets you fire. So maybe your pray and spray method could use some tweaking of it's own ?
Not sticking up for bethesda , just pointing out what self entitled whiners ya'll are coming across as.
@@Mk101T Were you fucking high when you wrote that? Bethesda designed the weapon degradation system to be overly burdensome in order to sell repair kit microtransactions. A more apt real world comparison would be to engineered obsolescence. That's where products are made with points of failure built in so that they don't last as long, forcing consumers to eventually replace them.
@@Mk101T 1. I don't own Fallout 76 and never have. I have played and completed every Fallout game to Fallout New Vegas, however, and if the weapon degradation system is WORSE than those, and the ONLY OPTION to fix them is to buy Weapon and Scrap kits from the item shop (because they DO NOT spawn in-game at all and are deliberately NOT craftable like they were in New Vegas), then your comparison is absolutely absurd.
2. When weapons degrade they not only lose accuracy and damage, but eventually become completely useless. At least in prior Fallout games you could use parts from other weapons to fix the ones you have, from what I'm getting here in 76 that's not at all an option.

"Keep it simple stupid!" - Emil Pagliarulo
His approach is...not very smart. He seems to think people are idiots who can't follow complex plots despite there being tons of examples of complex plots selling well. Inception was a great example of a complex plot that sold well, even if there were some people who were too stupid to get the complex premise. Number 3 is also a huge problem and imo, is an excuse for lazy writing.
Hahaha exactly. If Bethesda cared that much about story and lore then they would've hired Chris Avellone.

Great games that dont break, are not made. -Emil Pagliarulo

Now I want to do a road trip to Reno and some of california LOL..
I like how the guy compared something unavoidable like getting sick to a deliberate action they could have chosen not to do. Evidently the micro transaction came in the night and added all the pay to win content.
This disaster will & should never be forgotten.
It's a good lesson on "How not to release a game" & "How to destroy your reputation (& trust) in seconds". Lessons that this AAA games industry most definitely will NOT learn.
@@LegacyKillaHD Then They Will Burn.
Yeah, give it a year or two, most people are stupid manipulable sheep more so than ever, so thats going to happen sooner rather then later. i mean, 76 should of been a killing blow to Bethesda, especially after that whole Canvas shortage and that distilled Puke in a bottle, breaking of promises to not add game altering MTs to the game the constant "Fixing" and re adding game breaking bugs ect. the sheer ineptitude of the developers, OH NO people are loving the game for some Stupid fucking reason. its disgusting.
@@SporeFreak2010 Bethesda fans nowadays have such low standarts, they will play any horse shit game bethesda develops
This thread shows the exact reasons the industry is suffering.
We have circle jerk andys that love to hate a game they "don't play" for way too long to the point where it looks like a cult. then they insult the people that do like the games, claiming they are manipulated sheep because they have different opinions. Of course there are manipulated sheep but not to the level people claim.
People love to hate something they can't and won't enjoy because they can't find anything better to do. They group people together as much as they can, not in small groups but in extremely large groups. you are either "intelligent" or "a sheep"... You are not allowed to have an opinion unless it's against Bethesda because all other opinions are wrong...
If dozens of other games can recover from absolute failure, plenty of large studios can rebuild what was lost, games that died on released becoming an esport for longer than 5 years... Why are people wrong for having hope, for trusting in people with the capability to improve? If it has been done so many times before, by far worse people, why are x or y not allowed a chance?
76 is definitely not getting praise, but the devs are for continuously supporting the game, fixing bugs and adding more content despite the unwarranted hate and toxicity they receive. You have to praise people for the good they do, otherwise, they will never have an incentive to do any.
Fans don't have low standards, sheep might, but fans don't. Fallout fans absolutely hate 76 fans, so much that they get bullied in their shared communities. Fans want the game to get better, they want to support it because they hope that 1 day it will be the game they wanted. There is a difference between being a fan and a stalker.

@@TheVampireFishQueen yeah. The new update is out and NPCs have the ability of stealing your items when you die. It's not as bad as the box that deletes your Items(the devs can just code it to allowpeople to get their items back from the NPCs) but it's still pretty bad.
I was one of those poor saps in the audience ;-;
"All other characters in the game...would be real players."
*Audience cheers*
Me immediately: Hold on, how would that even work from a story building and quest structure standpoint?
I'm guessing they wanted to make it like EVE Online where most of the game's history are events orchestrated by actual players and most of your "quests" involve doing work for player-created corporations and organizations. Unfortunately, Bethesda missed the part where:
-More than 16 players can be on a server at once.
-The world is persistent and can be permanently changed.
-Players could form permanent factions to pool resources and work together to fight against opposing factions.
Yeah, I first thought there'd have to be players online in "shifts" like a job. Sort of like "interns" that own a cut-rate version of the game that only allows them to do their character functions (merchant, quest giver, etc) and little else.
35:00 it's more like the dad being all, "I promise, kids, that I'll take you to Chuck E. Cheese's this weekend," and then he gets sick, and is all, "I know I said that we would go see Chuck E. Cheese, but I got sick. So now you need to give me money, and I'll take you to see the crazy man down the street that puts on a dirty Mickey Mouse costume, and screams about the apocalypse and the talking cockroaches that live in his skin."
So Chuck E Cheese is a a real franchise? I assumed it was made up.
That was very oddly specific description of events.. I really hope this did not happened to you as a kid..

You may not have known you were lying at the time. That doesn't mean it's not a lie. It is still a lie you moron, and we are your customers not your children. What they did should constitute false advertising and they should be prosecuted for it heavily.
...The thing is, I don't really blame them for that. They lied so blatantly, with so many red flags they became CRIMSON, that only truly retarded people would have bought the game. Or the sheep that follow mob rule or, as said before, fanslaves.
I swear I detected distinct I'm about to cry inflections in his voice when he was talking about it
He's technically right. Changing business practices because of the dictates of executives doesn't result in a lie. The addition of grind mechanics and convenience payments is not lying, because it changed the form of a product that had been purchased in a different form, its deduction of property or theft.
I think this all stems from the idea of "patching" games post launch. Back when the product you received was what you got as the norm - it was insanely important that it worked when you released it. The only games that really broke this norm was mmos. The issue honestly started when games started getting loads of patches after launch, with this being the norm you could excuse a product's problems by apologising and simply fixing them later. This has lead to the trend where a games' release is essentially viewed as the public test of said game. It's business. It's simply more profitable to release a game at it's scheduled date and then have a smaller team fix it after the fact, than it is to delay it and risk the hype dying out.
It's a shame though, since it has lead to me buying most of my games a year or two after their launch. It's kinda sad that it's no longer a good idea to buy a game at launch, it's better to wait a day or two - read if it's a buggy mess or not and then decide if it's playable or if waiting till it's properly fixed is preferable.
Except when it comes to Craptovison. You need to wait at least 3 months until they add in macro-transactions at a later date.
It's even worse than that, Bethesda never really fixed their game regardless, they just left all the work to modders and called it a day
Im with you. I tend to wait a year these days.
Unfortunately since almost all triple A studios cought on the people allow this to happen I don't see it being stopped , feels like the gamer's who want a better product are the minority at this point.
@@Assassin5671000 People who're highly critical is almost always the minority. The vast majority of people are like me - if we like it we buy it, if not we just get on with it. I and many others simply don't feel the need to get angry about a product that wasn't made for us or we deem too broken to play.
These people aren't an issue though, since you don't need to be vocal or outraged to avoid broken products. If I hear that something is incredibly buggy I will avoid it and be a lost costumer.
The thing is, and this is easily forgotten. People on reddit, 4chan, youtube and the like being vocal are a TINY percentage of the buyers out there. The vast majority just want to play a game once in a while and not get into a massive discussion about whether or not they're allowed to enjoy it. The real issue is people who grow up with this, if this is how gaming's always been for you - then you're more likely to simply accept it and buy it anyway.
Edit: It should also be noted that this business model has actually damaged certain companies. While the sports market of EA doesn't mind - they've dealt with it since the 90s at the very least and heavy monetisation is normalised there. You do see a heavy loss of customers and players when monetisation is pushed too far in most gaming genres. Even DLC sees a massive loss in purchase. The market for cosmetics, paid advantages and the like is very likely maintained by a minority of people who will pay just about any price for the game they're playing. If you actually look at the trend, the more a game is filled with "whale hunting mechanics", the more the playerbase shrinks. Take Korean MMOs in the west, they almost always die because what's the point if you cannot compete with someone who's spent 500 pounds in the cash shop! The same logic can be applied to MOBAS, HOTS being a good example. I honestly believe that the pricing of heroes played a massive part in its failure, I and many of my friends gave it a go and realised just how long it'd take to unlock a single hero - after that we went back to league which had a more reasonable business model (champions being easily unlockable and the cash shop being mainly cosmetics).

It was _Fallout 4_ that destroyed my faith in Bugthesda and really opened my eyes to how outright lazy and buggy their products really were. I still love _Skyrim_ but that's really the last product of theirs I enjoyed and even it has issues I still take issue with (improperly utilized engine, no attributes, greatly simplified mechanics, bugs that can't be fixed without the source code). 76 threw up red flags before it was ever launched (no choice of servers, no NPCs, no way to opt out of PvP). But even I was caught off guard by how poorly it was received. Now I pray Providence Equity calls in their loan to ZeniMax and bankrupts that company before it and its subsidiaries destroy more IPs.
You and ne both. Like you, Fallout 4 made me opened my eyes to how horrible the game is but I'm not sure if I could go back playing skyrim or fallout 3 after seeing Bethesda's true colors.
At first when the game was out every1 complained about bugs, but I didn't get anything. Until my second and third save loadouts. OH MY GOD! It was so bad that I couldn't even play the game, because it crashed 9999 times and things were stuck, quests were bugged etc.. It was horrible. It was my first game of fallout series, I liked the theme but there were so many things missed oppourtinites with the game. Like you building settlements, why not just upgrade them instead of building everything.. why go here and there as the general when you should be able to send people to do the dirty work??
The game was ok, but so many missed oppourtinies.. Instead of the general you should have the title as ''slave.''
I liked Skyrim, but still missed oppourtinies as well..

it took them a year and a half for the game to get "Decent"
If people are enjoying the game then what the fuck does it matter how long they took
PeeJay Torres because it doesn’t justify the laziness and scummy scheme to drain money from fanboys who don’t care about being walked all over. It’s a complete betrayal, because it was all done intentionally, all for money. That isn’t forgiven or justified just because they were forced to make the game a little better to avoid even more financial and reputation decline - which is the only reason they’ve now made the game “playable”.
@Matthew Tran Only fanboys and people who enjoy the game enough to play it have a saying? Got it. I guess I can't criticize a restaurant I once liked if the owner stars to do shady business and treat the customers bad as long as I'm not one of them? Do I need to eat the poop infested food in order to criticize it? Maybe it's not that bad, maybe some people like it, and just watching people vomit and smelling the poop soup from afar is not enough to get the true experience, but accepting what the chef does because you like the restaurant or praising him once he gives you a cold regular soup instead of the poop one is not a good practice and it benefits nobody other than the chef.
All jokes aside, I get it, the game is way better now, still does not excuse what they did, and they need to put way more effort into things before people can forgive them, and sadly a "keep playing this trash game until it gets normal-ish at the end" is not a good enough reason for most people to come back or try it for the first time.
@@Brandon_J the game was perfectly playable before this update.
@Wade right?! Have you seen the Instagram comments lately? It's pathetic, a bunch of basturds.
Bethesda was never in the right direction when it comes to Quality, they just crossed the line with 76.
You don't go to McDonald's and expect the best hamburger ever, you go there and expect food of a specific quality, food that you're not going to spit out at the very least.
@ The Factory
Indeed, they never stood for quality, Bethesda carved out a spot for themselfs in the deepest suors of the gaming industry for people who clearly love the abuse.
That was one of the points I tried making obvious. All past Bethesda games have had glaring issues but in recent memory its gotten worse. This is why I spent a decent chunk of this video mentioning the previous criticisms made with Fallout 4 because it sure as hell is relevant to how Bethesda views their audience. Fallout 4 already was viewed as a dumbed down "lets shoot some super mutants" experience for many & with Fallout 76, as you said, Bethesda crossed the line. Exposing their flaws & just how lazy/greedy they really are (also without the assistance of modders, it was far worse). Something that likely wont change, which is concerning for say Starfield or TES VI.
@@LegacyKillaHD I played Fallout 4 personally, had over 400 hours on it. The entire time, I was going through quests/locations and thinking "Huh? That's it?" I was genuinely underwhelmed, so much to the point that I never finished the main quest, a questline that - regardless of which side you take - Is almost identical in every way. The *only* time i was invested in a storyline in FO:4 was the Far Harbor DLC, specifically the interactions between DiMa(a mainline-story character) and Nick Valentine, a completely optional follower from the main game. Nick actually has unique dialouge for pretty much every unique way the DLC's story can end(of which there are several), and I thought "Why isn't the rest of the game like this?!"

Considering they are still overcharging for private servers, and selling pay for advantage items in their cash store, the DLC might be a step in the right direction but the marathon for acceptability is just getting started. If this is a sign of their future 'live services' it will remain a hard pass for me.
I was 100% on board with the atomic shop, until repair kits and the like were added. I had no problem with a store that sold purely cosmetic items, especially because the currency could be earned in game. The whole steam reviews and reception is honestly not really representative. First of all I like a lot of other people are waiting to get our copy after linking our accounts because we refuse to give Bethesda more money which mean a lot of people can’t actually play or review the game. Secondly if you go onto to the steam discussion forms you will see that a lot of critics of the game are being banned and most of the threads are made up of diehards who refuse to accept that people might not like Bethesda’s behavior.
Exactly!!
Yup, I knew it was a trainwreck as soon as I saw the reviews go from mixed to ‘Mostly Positive’ which is utter complete bullshit. The game is a utter failure and it should accurately capture that. Review tampering/harvesting so obvious it makes me laugh.
it goes for both side , so much people hate the game without even trying it . I didint like it the first time , but now i see it positive , they really make it better but its still not the end of it . So it should only be positive not MOSTLY , but with promise of getting better ''i hope''
a lot of people call it pay to win , its not, i manage to buy a lot of atom shop thing just by playing and you realy dont need that fallout first subscription . Some people would say then its GONA be pay to win one day , maybe but not now .
of course it banned some critize on steam , those people are just there to troll . They got 0 argument and are proven wrong but they still try to vomit their negative attitude on something they never tryed . This is some of the best actual journalism from a youtuber I've seen in months. Thanks so much for all your hard work! I've had a tortured history with this game on my channel.
I remember the live stream I was watching during the E3 unveil of Fallout 76. When they said it was going to be online only. Oh I don't think there was a happy person in the chat of that live stream. You can see even in the crowd that maybe 1 out of 10 people seem happy and excited when they announced it. Even I wasn't happy but I tried to be hopeful, but as the weeks went on, more news about the game came out, I was already decided that I wasn't going to play the game. Then it came out, and the game was 20x worse than I expected it would be, and my expectations were already really low. You also know that the Vault Tec Launch Boxes icons for the atom shop were likely originally going to be loot Boxes, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Card Perk System was also going to be loot box style monetized in some fashion up until the EA SWBFII scandal. You know it in your heart that it was likely true and not just a conspiracy.
This is the most entertaining game I've never bought
Still won’t touch this train wreck. Bethesda needs to learn it’s lesson.
David Carter i believe it already has, that’s why it’s made an update.
While yes, that’s true, they need to learn when they’re doing good too. I saw that Wastelanders was good, so I’m playing Wastelanders and it makes the game significantly better. I’m showing Bethesda that they’re doing good with their fixes to their product by actually playing the game.

And since bethesda got Skyrim as well, I'd like to just add that their "choices" are pretty bad as well. Long live the modders.
@Christopher Johnson I've always taken the position that Fallout 3 seemed to be trying. Like a group of people without full understanding the goals they should be building for but were at least trying to construct something recognizable using only the materials they knew how to use. It choked violently on maintaining brand recognition for the higher ups, but you could see elements of a heavily marred innovation - even world building if we assume the time skip was tacked on last minute - in there.
Ever since Ken Rolston left, though, their RPG know-how was degrading and Fallout 3 was their last limp-wrist attempt at it before everyone competent in the genre apparently left, gave up, or got beaten down beneath the weight of bullshit.
I couldn't play fallout 3 after 1, 2 and New Vegas. Nothing made sense and the writting was just awful.

Just look at the reviews of the Waste Lander (Probably spelled wrong) DLC, it's not bad, but you should probably wait if it continues in the right direction.
not giving it a chance is dumb its great, it was on beta for 2 years so what, every online survival game ever is in early development for usually 4 or 5 years it seems, they why they have combined hat experience into the fallout universe and now adding in a pretty great story and pretty good roleplaying elements in with all that, 2 years is not that bad and there is only more to come.
Ethan Bradley I disagree the game was trash and the company is greedy if you support them not you set the precedent for them to do the same with all games in the future

You always succeed to your highest level of incompetence. Emil didn’t write far harbor. You can tell, because far harbor was on an entirely different level from the base game.
I played it and i will say that Fallout 76 is now good enough to buy IF it's heavily discounted and you absolutely HAVE to play latest Fallout game as Wastelanders admittedly did bring some decent content to the table. funny how they manage to get paid actors to hype 76 up with the initial "every npc will be a real player", the game barely launched and people were already complaining the lack of player interactions and 0 npc = dead world.
Fallout 3 is what got me into Fallout. I loved the game for what it presented and I had 100+ hours of fun in the game. Then came Fallout 4. I loved that game even more, but not specifically for the reasons one would expect. I discovered that playing fallout as a wanderer-game, its really awesome. I personally liked making settlements, and just roam the landscape, build bases and defend my territory all the while hoarding stuff.
Then came Fallout 76... And that wraps up that story. I know off FO76 existing... and that is already too much knowledge. I have ever since resided in FO4, and I shall keep to its shadows.
I'll never forgot staying up to watch a TH-camrs live stream of the Fallout 76 E3 announcement. Desperately hoping that it wasn't going to be a online MMO style game. That the rumours were false, that it was all a big joke. Then they made tha announcement and my heart sank. While the TH-camrs whose stream I was watching. Began screaming like Bieber fan, while hooting and hollering claiming that it was the best thing ever.
I ended up just closing the stream and staring at wall for an undetermined amount of time before going to sleep and telling myself that I'm not going to buy this game, because even before even playing a single second of it. I knew it was going to suck and I was right.
Only reason I own a copy now is because it was given to me. And I've may be played 3 hours total of it since it came out. A good portion of it being me running around the vault seeing if there was any hidden items and such that may have been missed.
And even then, the presentation was full of red flags. The biggest was Todd promising that the game would be everything. Multiplayer! Singleplayer! Just like the past Fallout/TES games! But with survival! And crafting! And Minecraft! And Pvp!
So the game clearly had no real direction or vision behind it. It just sounded like he was listing out buzzwords BGS thought would increase the player base. But each feature was half implemented at best. This gave us a very shallow product that couldn't appease any of the groups it was advertised towards...
The game was just a huge mess and a blatant cash grab. It started as a coop mode to F4, but then The Todd thought they could make more money as a live service game. So assets were heavily flipped, new features were touted (but never truly implemented/balanced), and the scummy cash shop added.
And the only thing it cost BGS was it's reputation! *sigh*
Anyone who was paying any attention could tell it was gonna be an mmo style game. Even with the vagueness that was the one thing that didn't burn me on that game's release.

I hear ya, Fallout 76 being an always online MMO style game was one of biggest disappointments in my entire life when it comes to video games, I was legit depressed about it. And you know what pisses me off, all the effort Bethesda puts into 76, they should be working on a proper Fallout game instead (Fallout 5). Like if they just went to work on Fallout 5 instead, That game would be close to being done about now, But nope, We get the cash grab piece of shit MMO instead.
10:00 It sounds like Bethesda forgot/stopped caring that it was an *_RPG._*
Actually, this happened to a few other games, too. I know RPGs require more effort and money, _but there's a market there, dang it!_ If there wasn't, Final Fantasy wouldn't keep selling. Bravely Default wouldn't have sold. Octopath Traveller wouldn't have sold. STOP BEING AFRAID OF RPGS! They have the advantage of not needing the best-looking graphics or voice acting. People that like RPGs aren't scared off by having to read more of the writing is engaging!
15:50 And that right there was the biggest red flag for me. "Each of those characters is a real person" translates to me in two ways:
1: There are no NPCs or story provided throughout the game, making it no longer an RPG but just an empty (minus baddies) setpiece, and they expected _every single player_ to treat it like an RP server. ...Which I knew just absolutely wasn't going to happen.
2. There would be NPCs and story, but they could only interact with one person at a time. ...That one _may_ have come about due to PTSD of this old MMO I used to play (that I no longer remember the name of). I VERY quickly gave up on the quests in that game and just wandered aimlessly.
34:30 I'll repeat what I said on another video: The kid isn't the one paying for Chuck E' Cheese; that's not comparable.
@moudoka And Yoshida actually cares about their customers unlike Todd Howard and that VP Pete Hines. All they see is how much money they can squeeze out of us now a days.
I love FFXIV: Shadowbringers. It's one of the best RPGs to date even though there are people who are scared of paying 15 dollars a month to play an MMORPG.
Final Fantasy 14 isnt really an RPG. The best examples of true RPG's are the OG Fallout games and The Elder Scrolls (1-3). A true RPG is meant to make the players real life skill irrelevant because it dosent matter how good you are but how good is the character you created.
Thats why its hard to make good OWRPG's, not just the story structure, but the gameplay design as well.
An rpg isn’t restricted to just your narrow definition. Like check this out: A game where you play a fixed character, with voiced dialog. Limited to no skill checks. Light character building. Limited speech options that often end up being one of two options. Action based combat that uses skill over numbers. What game am I describing, fallout 4? No. The Witcher 3. And the mass effect series. Nobody is going around saying mass effect 2 and the fucking Witcher aren’t rpgs, all of the same “not an rpg” aspects people bitch about with fallout 4 exist in both. It’s no wonder Bethesda stopped giving a shit, they can’t ever do right with the “hardcore fans” in any case. Y’all hate the new game until a newer one comes out. I bought every game in the series at launch, people bitched that 2 was too over the top and silly. And they’ve been using the shitty not an rpg meme since 3. New Vegas was HATED at launch for being a buggy rehash of 3. Nobody hates fallout more than fallout fans, y’all are worse than wwe fans.
The 76 reveal was the last day of the old world.
Then the bomb dropped.
The day Todd says FO76 will be a multiplayer game "Fallout" is dead for me. This is bughesda. We played FO3 & FO4 and we know how they do their jobs. But the most important part of FO3 and FO4 were mods. Mods were fixed alot of bugs and glithes to gave a chance to play an "ok-ish" game. Yet there were lots. Not a smart thing to buy a multiplayer game from bughesda...
Every time I see a video like this, it makes me so happy knowing I didn't waste a dime on this game.
Writing became a logistical nightmare. Get better writers. Your mod community might be a good place to start.
Agreed. And get a better engine that can handle all the new things.
Because their engine is so freaking old, it makes the Grand Canyon look young.
They really dont know how to exploit the modders. (In a good whay)
@@ArmageddonEvil yes, get a complete new engine and fuck over our modding community, the only thing keeping our games alive
@@ArmageddonEvil if you want a new engine, be prepared to wait 6 or so years for a new game.
@@kitsunekaze93 There's so much work you have to put in to make a new engine from scratch, it isn't financially viable
You forgot the darkrum, moldy helmet from gamestop and the canvas bag for free to the endorsers and creators
These were things I considered but dark rum & moldy helmet were third-party issues. So I chose to leave them out, concentrate specifically on Bethesda's own screw ups. Also I seriously did want to give a brief overview of each debacle, like the canvas bag free for the influencers was considered but I was trying to scale down on time with this section. Like I said just so much chaos lol
@@LegacyKillaHD I appreciate you pointing out the third party mix ups here! I think the canvas bag was so stupid x,x I have to idea why Zenimax thought gamers would be happy with nylon. Also further note there are glass made variants of nuka products. However their frightfully expensive and hard to find, but some of them are good. Also further more the "Rocket Shape" Cannot be done in glass because there are... Standards? I guess you could say of what are allowable bottles. They have to meet a certain criteria and be recyclable. So there in lies the rub... which suuuuuucks cause I totally would love a nuka dark glass rum bottle
@@LegacyKillaHD I only mentioned them because they did contribute to fallout 76 being considered a joke/worst launch in history(call it what you want) besides more work for you, or more stuff to put in a video equals a longer video which equals more entertainment for me😁
@@DarkGemini21 well apparently it was disgusting anyway so they could have sold it as a glass prop drink and people would have been far happier.
@@DarkGemini21 Simple answer why Zenimax allowed it. It wasn't Zenimax. The Bethesda gear store takes care of all that shit, which isn't run in the slightest by Bethesda or Zenimax. It's run by a company called Think Geek, a subsidiary of Gamestop. Zenimax has no clue what was happening as they had basically just liscnsed out there IPs to a toy maker. When zenimax got the outrage they forced Thinkgeek to make the canvas bags and ship them out for free.
However, this was the last thing thinkgeek did. As the store is now run by Devolpment Plus.
bethesda cannot make rpgs anymore, only monetized hacks of pseudo-rpgs
Action-Adventure games with RPG elements.
41:56 That's literally the default character male you can start out as in Fallout 4.
Only Moira Brown could be excited about turning into a ghoul! What a legend. Great vid btw.
The channel name is perfect for this kind of video
Tried the game durring the free weekend and in literally the first hour I got fp animation bugs, server instability, enemies stuck in the floor, ground with godrais, t posing ghouls, quests not starting and horrid optimization.
Me too it was terrible
I tried it for free during 2018/2019 E3. Played it for a few hours then quit and uninstalled because it was boring to just wander and scavenge.
50 Mins ?! *Cracks a beer* "alright I got time"
Noticed that close to the end of the vid, though it was just 15 min vid
@@anonymousperson8317 that's how we know our boy makes QUALITY
Everytime I hear the words "Pete Hines", I vomit a little bit in my mouth.
Pete Hines should have been fired decades ago. He is an awful PR man.
I did that yesterday, when I read that Robert S. Trump is on Zenimax's corporate board.
Usually, there's no "role playing" when there's no story to back it up.
This is why you don't skip 72 entries in the series
I love how Bethesda was exposed as the greedy company it was
Is it just me or are Fallout 3 and 4's story very similar, what with F3 having you play as the son/daughter looking for your father, and F4 having you play as the mother/father looking for their son
Both are trash. Why would I care about some npc that leaves just 5 mins after I meet them.
I like the base and DLC stories from F4 better, but I don't like the implementation. They have dumbed it down the story and the whole game unfortunately. It's too bad because some parts of the game are master peaces, while other are terrible. Too few options, wasted opportunity.
They both rip off wholesale of The Dark Tower 3: The Wastelands. Fallout 4 in particular is straight up the third act of the book with the parent going through a dangerous, destroyed city looking for their child and thinking they’ve seen the worst of the post-nuclear world there when in fact what lies beyond the city are the real horror filled Wastelands.
fallout 76. the only fallout that has consistently provided me hours of entertainment and i dont own it at all. fallout 4 also.
That's quite an optimistic way to look at it
FNV too that launch was one massive joke
fallout 4 was really good though
@Ruben Feneser your reading comprehension isn't that great huh.
Fallout 4 was my first experience with the franchise, I was immediately addicted, a great game. Fall out 76 was an absolute disaster.
