I will admit I was thoroughly in "cautious optimism" territory when I heard more composers were getting their hands on the soundtrack. The RoR-style is something that's been honed over the course of 3-4 entire soundtracks, with such a distinct identity that's always been spearheaded by one guy. How could I not feel a little worried?

After hearing the new Surface Tension for RoR Returns which was also done by a different composer, I was pretty much convinced we were gonna keep getting bangers. I'm listening to these on repeat now.
It's just 1 person. Chris likes to collab with people, he did the same thing for the Talos principle. He made a song for that game and the producer for the songs on that game made a song for ROR Returns.
You can definitely tell there's a difference in style, but I completely welcome the changes that Stavros brings
Definitely! When done well, I think getting other compsers on a soundtrack can be really cool - in this case, it still very much sounds like risk of rain 2, but it's also distict from chris christodoulou. I am very much excited to hear Stavros' other tracks.

No matter how strongly I love Chris' music, I'm ready to accept Stavros' vision of RoR soundtrack as long as it's the same level of banger. And it seems I won't be disappointed

im sure our boi Chris shared his tricks with the music so it sounds alike but with his own style.
there is no guitar riffs in this one like in many chris songs.
The vinyl's description says "The new album includes 42 minutes of music written by Chris Christodoulou with the contribution of one piece by fellow Greek composer Stavros Markonis." So looks like all the other songs will still be from Chris.

@@phenel Nah. I think this one is pretty good. I would score it about in the middle of Chris Christodoulou's music. Not my favorite, but also it holds up pretty well.

Welcome to the storm Starvos! I can't speak for everyone but I look forward to hearing more of your work in the new DLC. You give vibes of "otherside of the coin" in tone but got kept that same general style of RoR2. That's not easy to do and I gotta respect it.
if you check the vinyls description it says that it has "42 minutes of music written by Chris Christodoulou with the contribution of one piece by fellow Greek composer Stavros Markonis." So this is the only Stavros song and the rest will be mainly chris. still a great addition to the ost tho!
@@the_dexman unironically the fact that I am a bit saddened by that really shows how well his style fit - was hoping to hear more from him, I'll definitely check him out!
If this is the introduction for Stavros Markonis, I can't wait to see what he'll cook up next. For now, it's safe to say that it's "up to standard", which I don't say lightly since the point of comparison is THE Chris Christodolou.

Been playing a ton of Hades 2 recently, and my play group got back into Ror2 for the devotion update. Now I realize I need a "Devil went down to Georgia" like duel between Chris Christodoulou and Darren Korb.

The best thing i found about this track, is that despite it not being written by Chris, it still samples Chris's OST for Risk of Rain!

OOOH that BASS is so satisfying to listen to, and when the synth comes in and the rest, I can’t get enough of it. Plus I’m a total sucker for guitars and when they pause, and oh MAN! Amazing job, Stavros, man!

Listening to this, eyes closed and full volume was the most intense and incredible musical experience I've ever had. Thank you Stavros for creating genuine perfection. And thank you Chris for making the rest of this game's phenomenal soundtrack. The ror1, ror2 and deadbolt OSTs are my top 3 soundtracks ever and make up all of my favourite music along with 1 other duo. Thank you two so much for these amazing tracks
First time I hear about Stavros' work, and I think it fits pretty good into what Chris has constructed over the years. Love the void themes references, especially A Placid Island of Ignorance stuff, really took me back to one of my favourites. That aside, it absolutely slaps, would love to see more of his work on boss themes in the future. Great work!

I especially love the use of guitar here; it sounds and feels very different to other similar guitar-heavy tracks like Bigger Ukulele. And despite the inclusion of existing leitmotifs, the track as a whole still carries a distinct style from everything that came before, but it's one that still fits the RoR universe IMO, which is exactly what I feel a good guest track for this series should do. Huge congrats to Stavros for composing the series' first completely original guest track! Would be cool to hear more from him in the future!
