Don't you mean... You're a simple man, like you're father before you, and now you understand, what family really means, cause living with tuskens made you strong, and gave you a place where you belong, cause you were left for dead in the sands of tattooine, and had your armour stripped right off from you, and now you're ready to leave that life behind, cause you can only get so far without a tribe?
@@Switch_Lens Yes, and the armor was my father’s, it is the weapon of a Jedi, from an age more civilized, but I know this planet, I know these suns, I know this desert we both come from.
Seriously, you have outdone yourself with this one. I see a lot of people joke about how weird it is for Padme to have died of sadness, or complain about her death being unfair, but you approach it with an almost unbearable empathy-what is it actually like for a brave idealist to lose everything she stood for and held dear? The song feels designed so carefully to highlight the star-crossed agonies that Anakin and Padme endured. The vocals are top-notch too-I feel like I can hear real pain in your voice, and that high note right after the bridge goes crazy! As intensely as I love all your songs, I think your ballads are always my favorite because your songwriting skill shines so clearly in them. All songwriters have to be good observers of the human condition, but you particularly excel at writing about the Star Wars condition (if that's not a thing, it is now!). I also think not enough people are appreciating that this opens with an Anakin quote from Attack of the Clones when they're on Naboo. Like, yeah, this is gorgeously and painfully applicable to anyone's life, which makes it so listenable and belt-along-with-in-the-car-able, but the subtle nods to Star Wars throughout make it feel that much more authentic and real. I think this might beat out It's Like Poetry to get into my top 5? It's just that good. I'm actually so grateful that you love the same things about Star Wars that I do, but in such a fulfilling and creative way.
Thanks for taking the time to say all this. You're really kind. It's Like Poetry is one of my favorites, too. I love those more universally themed songs.
Padme always loved Anakin, despite what he’d done. When I first heard of Padme’s fate, I was so sad, I was so sad about it it took me months to get over it. But I do love how Padme and Luke shared the same feeling: there was still good in Anakin, despite what he’d done. They were the only ones to never give up on him and offer him redemption.
The best way to say it is vader thought luke would become like him a sith but luke realized one thing if he could become his father his father could become him…and join the light If luke could fall vader could rise…
That song... is a truly mastepiece. I'm litteraly crying. I don't understand why some people don't like Anakin and Padme's relationship. Their love is beautiful and at the same time sad and tragic. Great job Roy.Thank you for this song. Greetings from Poland
Because Anakin is an abusive monster in the movies, and Padme was kind of an idiot for falling for a childish child murderer. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked their characters, but they aren't even on the spectrum of being a healthy couple in the films (Clone Wars is a completely different story). Btw, this is coming from a guy that's dressed as Anakin, and wife dressed as Padme, last Halloween.
Great song. It was so sad, but so beautiful. Keep up the great work. I wanted to add that I love it when the lyrics go "light turns into dark" and it shows Padme and then Vader. Beautiful.
Love this song I’ve always loved Anakin and Padme. She loved him even though he did terrible things. She says there’s good in him. He still loved her too even in the comics after revenge of the sith.
I like how the first half of the video is about Anakin's pains and heartaches, symbolizing he was already dying of broken heart, a heart that was gradually being chipped in half. I believe the first chip was carved out when he left his mother and went with Qui-Gon. His heart then fractured even more, missing his mother and having the nightmares, and then his mother dying in his arms put Anakin's cracked heart almost to the breaking point. But he found a light in Padme, and he when he thought that light would die too, he did everything he thought was needed in order to achieve the power to save Padme; only in the process, he broke her heart, thus finally breaking his own. As Darth Vader, the heart was completely split in two, and there was no more light. Everything was lost. If you watch Anakin closely throughout his journey from a boy to a jedi to a sith lord, you can see the heartbreak as it gradually takes over, piece by piece. I also like the second half of the video then seeming to focus on Padme's sorrows, sorrows caused by Anakin because he had a broken heart. She had to watch him suffer and struggle, and though she was there for him, there still wasn't anything she could do to really help him. Her heart started being chipped away as the pain became more and more obvious in Anakin's eyes. All she wanted was for him to be happy, to finally find some sort of peace. It finally broke her heart entirely to realize that the man she cared for, loved so entirely, had become a man possessed. All the pain was gone from his eyes, replaced by the lust for power, and for Padme, that was worse than seeing the pain, because the man before her was no longer the one she knew. In the end, both Anakin and Padme died of broken hearts. They shared the same fate, as they once shared the same love 💔
The transition 2:58 between padme dying after birth and vader in his new suit as you sing ,, light turns into dark" . Padme dressed in white as vader is covered in black . This is POETRY.
I like the way you wrote the song such that it makes perfect sense in a Star Wars context, but could also be a standalone song on the radio. I seem to remember you mentioned on your podcast a ways back writing "Mind Tricks" like this too. Good work man!!
Welp, I didn’t want to be sad today, but I just had to click on this song. Absolutely beautiful, heart wrenching, and perfect song. Honestly, I think this is one of the best Star Wars themed songs out there. Thank you so much for giving us something so amazingly sweet and sad. ❤ And now if you’ll all excuse me, I’m going to go cry.
Listening to this masterpiece made me think if this had to end like that. I believe that their love was the purest in series and that tragic end was the worst think they could’ve imagined
Phenomenal song, a masterpiece. Really for 7 years I have been listening to your songs and I am just amazed and filled with emotion. I love Fallen Jedi and Padme Song Save you and many more. You are an underrated artist who should have dozen of million of subscribers. Love ya man
McJesus!! Your mixes are getting better & better. The song if above fantastic, must be my favourite you've done so far since Padme's Song. But this mix is incredible, the drums have so much emotion & width alongside the rest of the instrumental. To top it off, the vocal mix is chefs kiss! GOOD JOB ROY!
Thank you 🙏 I actually didn't think much about Padme's Song when I put this together. But it is kind of Padme's Song (Part II) isn't it? The acoustic/string arrangement was a lot of fun and definitely a challenge. It was nice to try something different, though. I'm sure you know from the BTS videos how neurotic I am about nailing the mix-it's a relief to hear it's resonating with you. Thanks, again.
@@RoyishGoodLooks Also I have to add, I didn't mean that you haven't put out any good songs between this & Padme's Song haha! Just Padme's is my favourite track you've done! All your songs are amazing, keep it up! I was listening this morning & it really feels like a mix from the legends, the kick is very CLA like!
Thanks again. This is really interesting. I think I used Dan & Shay’s 10,000 hours as mix reference for Padmes Song-I was really happy with that. This one was a combo of a few songs, but mostly Iris by Goo Goo Dolls. I don’t know if those are CLA mixes or not… but referencing FTW, I guess!
Wow. I'm speechless. Padme means the world to me and your songs are always perfect... This is absolutely a masterpiece. Now excuse me I have to go fill Varykino with my tears
