Also to note, just jump shine out of shield (no footstool) is frame 6, being his fastest oos option that surrounds him with a hitbox (and is easy to do)
i genuinely thought i was the only person that knew about the roll out of shine cuz i accidentally did it playing ones and i felt like i had discovered a new planet it was hype also dope video to
I want to downplay shine, so hard. But I think optimizing it is key for quite a bit of relevant matchups. All of the Top/High tier swordies get messed up by it at some point in their linear recoveries. Peach and Diddy Kong also have points in their recovery where shine/fair drag down shine can take their stock. The same could be said for Joker and Terry as well. I've even cheesed some ZSS players with a mix of drag down fair+shine or just shine on its own. All of that is to say, I do agree with you that shine is has good potential to be broken. So if you want to make the most of every interaction you can, you can't ignore shine as an option in quite a lot more relevant matchups than you'd think.
So funny enough almost all specials give a boost up out of launch. Thats been a feature for several smash games. Thing is typically its not very good to recover immediately out of launch. Its easy to cover.
Good video but you’d catch me dead before catching me calling young link honest, the man has literally no end lag (or startup) on any move, and does crazy damage. Doesn’t matter if he can’t kill under 60 when he can get you there super quickly. Not to mention he has super oppressive projectiles that true combo into each other and the aforementioned cheater frame-2 air dodge. When you play against a young link, you are literally forced to play against a character doing literally whatever they want while you’re forced to sit there and wait for the slightest mistake that you’re close enough to react to
This is a good video! Usually when i see a new creator with very few views it's bad, but I actually enjoyed it and watched all the way through. One thing you really need to work on though is your audio editing. The sound of your voice itself is not very good (it sounds like you're in a hallway, perhaps you have a bad microphone, a recording space thats too big or tried to do noise cancelling or something?) and the balance with the music doesn't work at certain points. The rest is really well done. I'm pretty sure if you keep it up the algorithm gonna bless you. Anyway, thumbs up and subscribed and all ❤🎉
Thank you very much for the kind words, I truly appreciate the support. As for the audio quality issue, my mic is just genuinely terrible, but I've recently been able to buy a new one, so it should be way better by the next video. I love making these, so I want to just make better and better video's as I go along, hopefully you'll come along for the ride :)
He technically can it's just that the risk reward for doing so usually isn't worth it since the move doesn't have hit stun and a sizable amount of end lag meaning you're forfeiting stage as a movement based light character. It's okay in some matchups in shorts bursts though, but it's not something you can rely on compared to wolf laser for instance.
As a Fox main I’ve always known ofc shine isn’t useless and it’s really good for taking cheesy stocks and stalling, but I’d LOVE to hear how laser is secretly broken 💀 I’ve always thought it’s awful because of the little amount of damage and high endlag which can make it not worth using at all, other than campy pressure and chip damage, especially when you could’ve gotten another move which could’ve been a lot more rewarding in the time it took for you to use the laser. Even with the sliding tech thing that you can do with laser for some mixup potential, most of the time it’s completely useless imo
Yes, reflectors are good. It is frame 2, invincibility and whatnot. However the move is way too laggy for it to be considered a viable offensive option. 80% of the time you'll go for this, you'll miss, and we already know how fox does offstage and when he tries to recover. Good job on showcasing the move's strengths, but this is nothing we haven't known of before. And as a personal note, fox doesn't have a single good special, but if I were to chose one, it might be just laser.
I use Wolf's shine regularly to out frame data certain characters moves or if I feel my attack won't come out fast enough and see an opportunity in a scramble situation. 7 times out 10 works out well, opponent thrown off, and tech situation = down smash kill. Makes me feel like im playing pseudo melee for a bit haha
It's ight. It doesn't gimp recoveries, but it's a decent combo into aerials, especially since it has a hit box behind wolf. Wolf shine into bair is relatively consistent. Also jump rising shine is a flashy option that combos and protects you (breifly). It's situationally practical.
Um actually it said “most characters have a frame three air dodge as their fastest combo breaker.” Implying that the frame three air dodge is the fastest escape option 🤓☝️
@@PK_Yoshi Uh actually I said most, not all, ofc some characters have faster escape options but I was talking about air dodge as the best general combo breaker 🤓☝
0:51 From 2014 to about 2019, the Smash community was in the "We hate Brawl, it's a shit game" phase. Nowadays, people recognize it for the great game it is. And now it seems that the community has entered its "We hate Smafoursh, its a shit game" phase. This too will pass, and this timestamp will be a relic of a past bandwagon.
You're very kind for this, so thank you. Just wanted to let you know, I'm only taking that video down temporarily because I wanted to reupload it with some slight updates to give it a fighting chance against the algorithm. You can still watch it until then in my channels content playlist, its just unlisted atm.
After watching a video with a title saying I am WRONG about shine in Ultimate I can confirm I was factually correct about shine in Ultimate. Thank you for laying down the facts that everyone has already known about Fox for the last few years now in a misleading video. Using Shine to setup tech-chase is not even worth mentioning since (as you mentioned earlier in the video) Fox has an abundance of end lag after using the move it can hardly be called a tech-"chase". Best case scenario is you call out a projectile during an approach and either roll-in or jump towards the opponent for a follow up but Wolf/Fox players have known about acting out of a reflected projectile for a while now. This is hardly enough new information to warrant a whole video let alone one with this kind of title but that was very obvious from the first few minutes of rambling. Something tells me you know exactly what you're doing here.
Shine is good it's just not the best shine we've ever seen, Melee and 64 shine are obviously cracked and Brawl Shine had insane stalling properties, it's better than 4 shine at least and i think it's one of those tools that's good niche scenarios. Only because Ultimate recoveries, imo, go way too far for some characters
People hate on smash 4 but its objectively the best smash game. Personally I like brawl more but smash 4 is objectively better. This is because smash melee has janky controller inconsistencies and its harder to tell if you're in hitstun, smash ultimate sucks because almost all combos are 0-death, and smash 64 sucks because literally all combos are 0-death. I like brawl because of the lack of combos, but smash 4 is objectively better because its the latest smash game that doesn't have unfairly long combos and particularly unfun gameplay. (also when I say 0-death I mean a combo that can be 0-death if the combo-er reads DI properly, still making it so the victim basically cannot play the game) All of the arguments I've ever seen against smash 4 fall flat or are just plain illogical. Here are some of them and my counterargument: - Smash 4 custom fighters is weird/dumb :: Just don't use them. - Bayo exists :: Just ban the fighter. Also ult has Steve, brawl has meta knight, melee has fox, and 64 has captain falcon. Every smash game has its game-breaking op character. - Smash 4 has glitches :: So does every game you idiot, and smash 4 has the least game-breaking consistent glitches. - Smash 4's combo game revolved around down-throws :: down throws weren't nerfed in smash ult, they were buffed, but everything else was buffed more. Consequently, too many combos are 0-death. And yet no one complains about ultimate... - Smash 4 has too long of landing lag and "run stopping" lag (or whatever it's called) :: that's just a difference, which changes the play style to something that is objectively better because it allows for more defensive options and thus less explosive combos that prevent your opponent from playing the game. - Smash 4 physics are floaty :: I don't get this, I play smash 4 all the time and when I play brawl or ult it doesn't feel different at all.
Despite sounding like you recorded this in a concrete bunker, great job
Appreciate it m8, my trash microphone will soon be replaced, so hopefully there won't be many audio things going forward.

Aren't walls made of concrete?

Oh yeah I knew I forgot something, its also super technically frame 5 oos because of the invicibility, pretty neat stuff
@@BamSnoozled not really since itll still get shielded by anything -5

Yeah the list was just purely for air dodge, sorry for the confusion.
