How to clear Lexus/Toyota VSC and VSC OFF warning lights (yaw and deceleration recalibration)

- As the title suggests, this is how to clear Lexus/Toyota VSC and VSC OFF warning lights, on a Mk 2 Lexus GS at least.
What it's doing is resetting the zero point of the yaw and deceleration sensors. If the lights come on as soon as you set off, this tutorial is probably for you. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี

NOT ALL HERO WEAR CAPES !! Redone entire front ss on 2002 gs300 and shop told me brake booster or abs control module was bad !! (i had no problems prior just replacing old parts) so i tried this and you saved me a trip down the rabbit hole. many thanks

Although for all others asking about the VSC light not starting to flash with the ABS, dont worry about that, just give it about 2 minutes, than turn the ignition off, even though it didn't start to flash, and continue with the steps in the video. Worked for me :)

Well thenak you so much. I had a gearbox error code diagnosed, got my GS300 back and the vsc off light was on. This fix worked and cost me 1 paper clip. At Lexus in Den Haag I would have had to pay about €150. I was very sceptical on first viewing: completely misplaced. Once again, thanks!

Thanks for posting. I wanted to share that this worked on my Lexus Lx470. The vsc and abs & other flashing light sequences were different, but in the end it works. I’ll share it on ih8mud a 4 wheel truck form.

No worries. It should be doable with the OBD port as well (after all that's how Techstream buggers it up) but the under-bonnet port is easier to work with.

You helped me fix my US spec 02 GS430. The jumper didn’t work for my VSC, but I was able to do it in Techstream and I wouldn’t have tried if I hadn’t seen this.

I said all that to say this method worked to cure the light. It works guys and if you have a Gs 300 if the above issue that probably the problem.
Hello mate, i have come across this problem myself now where vsc and vsc off lights are not going away after this procedure. Any other tips or reasons why this has worked in the pastes but now doesn’t seem to work now

I have an rx330 my port is under the dash & not labeled.. might you remember what pins on the port they were like the 3rd on top & 5th on bottom..& ofcourse orientation of the port

Hello there! I had a big problem a week ago when I changed the left door ECU from a LHD LECUS GS430 and…boom!
No key working, the wheel drive does not come out when you put the key in and MUCH more things wrong.
I checked and I change one fuse that went out because of the ecu change and I also changed the ecu for the original one that I was using before the change. That fuse was the ecu ignition one and of course I replace it.
But Still with the problems and no lights on the wheel drive and can’t control the radio from the wheel drive and still can’t open or close the car with the key, etc.
Do you recommend me anything to solve all these troubles?? Thank you very much in advance.
I dont usually comment but even after 3 years this video has helped me so much. Struggled getting rid of this code and this method worked perfectly. 2003 GS430 (UK) saved me loads of headache

Does this reset the diagnostic history? I need my car smogged last time the vsc/engine lights came on I simply disconnected the battery but it reset everything & one sensor wouldn't read for the smog test because I wiped out the history 🤷♀️

What is that ECU for on top on the Engine original ECU box?
Disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds and then connecting it again did it for me. I suggest you try that first since it is much easier option. If that doesn't work, try this video suggestion.
Not forgetting to leave the key in the ignition for 6 minutes to reset the immobiliser.

@@ryanduderty3963 If you disconnect the battery you'll find that the car will turn over, but not start. To fix this, leave the key turned in the ignition (so the car is powered-up but not started) for six minutes, then try starting it.

With a wire go to E1 and TF together with the ignition on ok let see if I can do this and find it as an old lady here. I just got his car as a gift paid around $600 with DMV and insurance. I was given to save money 🤑. Yeap it was raining and it came on with check engine light too gosh. Can I return the plates and cancel all and get my money back with the DMV and insurance?

Hello! I've got engine light on as well. Had engine light at first, cleared a speed sensor fault and after vsc and traction off lights came on along with check engine. Car is a toyota aristo jzs 161
If you've got certain faults such as cylinder misfires causing a check engine light then the VSC lights will come along for the ride, and they're not just for show as the VSC will have shut itself off. Fix the engine faults and clear the codes and the VSC warning will go away. Don't go troubleshooting your VSC system as it'll be a red herring.
@@AintBigAintClever will check for misfire if it ain't that should I try this? Only speed sensor fault showed when i did a diagnostic.
@@dracula0137 use an OBD reader (any cheap one ought to do it) and check for any fault codes. My money's on misfire, but we'll see...

Hey, the same thing happened to me. Dont worry about that, just give it about 2 minutes, than turn the ignition off, even though the VSC light didn't start to flash, and continue with the steps in the video. Worked for me :)

Thanks for the video it works very well, but Im having an issue after I did this, now sometimes the traction control briefly kicks in when I set off from stationary and it shouldn't, got any advice on that? I've done the recalibration 3 times now
Are you recalibrating on a level surface? A hill will be no good. Road camber will be no good. I had to do it at the back of the office because the paving is flat there.

@@AintBigAintClever So after new brakes, rotors on all four corners, and alignment on my 04 GS300, it stutters only when I press hard on the brakes under 2-5 miles a hour. The VCS, VCS OFF is constantly on the dash, but other than braking is fine. HELP
@@MRMAN-wb1tv Does it do that just as you come to a halt? As in slow down normally, but kick in he ABS right at the end?
Mine did that. I never fixed it.

My car had the exact same fault when I brought it 14 years ago. Unfortunately I had to bend over and pay Lexus to reset it 😥
Ouch. I had mine for 14 years (during which time I never needed to call out the RAC) before getting a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV... but if you know whose channel this is you'll already know that ;)

I’m having the similar problem, I have 98 gs400 , my speedometer does not work, the mph /kph gauge does not move as I accelerate, the brake light is on although the e-brake is released and then fuse is still good, also the airbag light is on as well can anyone help thank you in advance

@@tristeng3241 not at all I really don’t understand what happened, car was running fine and then it shut off ecu burned , my climate control, radio , cluster and harness everything melted surprised it didn’t catch on fire , I ended up junking the car

How about for a Lexus Ls460 2008 VSC OFF.Engine check
I used to have that when my car had a misfire. Misfires were one fault where the car would throw its toys out of the pram and deactivate VSC. Clear the engine fault code using a cheap OBD tool and the VSC light will clear along with it.
Will this work with Lexus sc430?
If you've got the same layout of the diagnostics port then I'd expect so.

That's correct, they're the only pins used for this.

It's buried in the service manual. First time it happened was when a local garage scantooled it and upset it, I dug the issue out of the service manual back then and fixed it, so it wasn't such a shock (nor an issue) when I managed to cause exactly the same problem with Techstream. Several times.
AintBigAintClever Well you are brilliant for posting it because I would have never known. I have both VSC and a abs light on but no fault codes although I had some in the past. I have driven with the lights on fine but have inspection coming up soon so would like to remedy while also actually fixing the problem and not masking it. Just hoping it’s like yours and nothing serious, thanks!

So i ended up doing this on my 04 gs430 and i did not work. Maybe i am to blame but still want to know why?
So after doing this the lights did clear off my dash but also I’m guessing confused my traction control so a extremely low speed traction would come on a throw my car into limp mode while the traction light with the car doing a burnout would blink. Also while braking at almost stop the abs would completely buzz out and the brake would loose pressure. Havnt found a fix yet but hopefully soon let me know if anyones got answers or live in the sf bay area help fix this thing
Mine did the buzz-almost-at-stop after I knocked the car off its jack. Possibly a damaged ABS sensor ring? I never bothered getting it fixed and just got used to it.
So, how did you get it to disable the traction control? That part wasn't really clear. I guess you can't do a tutorial on that part if you don't have the car any more, but was it just clearing the codes with that particular OBDII adapter? Maybe include a link to the adapter?
The codes were all cleared using the piece of wire. The OBD adapter is what got me into trouble in the first place as it wiped the calibration on the sensors when it connected to the car.
I replaced my alternator and it went away
Battery also at the same time so just make sure the ecu cant get any power for while and it will reset
