In conclusion, Izzie has done some shady things, but she at least accepts what she's done is wrong. Everyone else on the show thinks that they're gods and never own up to mistakes. Before this, he was so mad and angry at the fact that Izzie got over him and was genuinely in love with Denny, and he even told her that she deserved to be out of the program because of how hurt he was. Honestly, this scene is the proof that Alex and Izzie were meant to be together. Looking at it, no one else was able to get Izzie to move. Until Alex showed up. He just picked her up and hugged her letting her cry on his shoulder. He was the person she needed in this moment.

So many years have past, so many seasons and this is one of the saddest and most memorable scenes of Grey's Anatomy... They let us root for Denny and Izzi, it seems it was going to be perfect... And then Shonda stabs us just in our hearts. Kudos for adding a Karev that for that moment and season made us forget he was a jerk.
Mary Who At this time, Denny was the better choice over Alex. He was being terrible to Izzie at this time and even called Denny a vegetable or something. Alex ends up having great character development though.
After watching Katherine’s variety talk with Ellen and learning about how she prepared for this scene makes it even more heart breaking. Her brother died when she was 7 and she said she allowed herself to feel those emotions again when doing this scene.
I'm a sensitive person and I don't usually cry when it comes to deaths on shows, but when I watched this episode a few weeks ago, I couldn't stop crying. I can't believe they killed Denny off. I kind of expected it but never thought it'd actually happen. Amazing show.
I cried when Alex said “that’s not Denny”, what makes a person who they are is their spirit. The body is just a suit, a vase that contains that spirit. Once we die, that body just becomes an empty shell. The essence of that person is gone. What made them, THEM is gone.💔
This scene is a major reason why Katherine Heigl got her Emmy. I've never thought of her as a great actress, but this scene gets me every time. She is amazing in this scene.

i think the saddest part is that her friends keep trying to comfort her, but can't stop being doctors. "they need to move him." "take him to the morgue." izzie knows. she's a surgeon and has had to see people mourn too, but this time it was her and she needed to stop thinking about the procedures and logistics and just mourn.

"The minute his heart stopped beating he stopped being Denny". That hit very hard when I lost my dad. I couldn't mold down how he was actually gone and when I realized it was real, it was like this wave of just constant heavy hits and I couldn't believe that I had lost someone right then and there.
I know how you feel. That's why that part of this scene hit me really hard because I felt that way after I lost my dad too. The first time I saw his body in his casket before the funeral, the words "That's not him" immediately came out of my mouth.
This was epic. But what was more epic was how Alex was the one that stepped in there, told her the truth and just held her. It just showed me how much he loves her. LEXZIE!!

Seeing JDM in many other roles and watching him take this role and give it soul is yet again another reason why I love his acting. This scene was so powerfully sad that I stopped watching the show. when I was in middle school, just watching this with my mom, because she liked to watch it, this scene made me bawl. and all these years later, as a 22 year old man, haven't watched the show in YEARS..just this video alone still makes me cry. Great scene.
izzie's cry is so real.. unlike meredith in season 6 finale, she was like she laughed and cried at the same time..
I absolutely love how loving and caring Alex get in this scene with Izzy. Seeing her so hurt and broken makes him feel so bad. This is why I love Alex so much ❤️

I've watched this scene a hundred times. And every time I see it I feel gutted and want to cry like a baby. I was so angry at Shonda not giving Izzie a chance at being genuinely happy.

They let us root for Denny and Izzi, it seems it was going to be perfect... And then Shonda stabs us just in our hearts. Kudos for adding a Karev that for that moment and season made us forget he was a jerk.

After watching Katherine’s variety talk with Ellen and learning about how she prepared for this scene makes it even more heart breaking. Her brother died when she was 7 and she said she allowed herself to feel those emotions again when doing this scene.

I cried when Alex said “that’s not Denny”, what makes a person who they are is their spirit. The body is just a suit, a vase that contains that spirit. Once we die, that body just becomes an empty shell. The essence of that person is gone. What made them, THEM is gone.💔

i think the saddest part is that her friends keep trying to comfort her, but can't stop being doctors. "they need to move him." "take him to the morgue." izzie knows. she's a surgeon and has had to see people mourn too, but this time it was her and she needed to stop thinking about the procedures and logistics and just mourn.

"The minute his heart stopped beating he stopped being Denny". That hit very hard when I lost my dad. I couldn't mold down how he was actually gone and when I realized it was real, it was like this wave of just constant heavy hits and I couldn't believe that I had lost someone right then and there.
I know how you feel. That's why that part of this scene hit me really hard because I felt that way after I lost my dad too. The first time I saw his body in his casket before the funeral, the words "That's not him" immediately came out of my mouth.

Seeing JDM in many other roles and watching him take this role and give it soul is yet again another reason why I love his acting. This scene was so powerfully sad that I stopped watching the show. I knew he was going to die eventually because grey's Anatomy can't let a good character just live in piece but when it just happened like it was nothing I was left broken and confused. It was the first time I have ever stopped watching a show because of the emotional attachment I had to a character
