I agree with the work place, but the press conference was an impromptu for him to clarify his posts and apologize. Irving being Irving, didn’t think the reporters were deserving of his effort, went the other direction.
The Nets had enough and suspended him at least 5 games and put out one of the strongest comment against a player.
He and his pr recognized that what he did is career ending if it wasn’t for his talent, immediately posted an apology, in which he actually apologized. Irving reference and contention was the movie that the true tribe was black and was enslaved by white Jews. Regardless historically accurate or not, he cannot condemn a whole group of people.

Would he feel the same way if a player said that black people should be considered 3/5 of a person? That’s their personal belief and it’s not directly advocating violence. Here's the trouble I'm having with this whole Kyrie situation. I'm not commenting on the book because I haven't read it. But, how could we be talking about Kyrie getting banned and Ime Udoka getting hired. What Udoka did was much more agrecious.
We still don't have the full picture on what Udoka did, but you're probably right. However, that doesn't make what Kyrie did any less egregious.

Because even though what Udoka did was wrong, it was consensual (from what we know) so it's just a Celtics HR issue and he also apologized for it. Kyrie has been doing odd stuff for years so when this happens and he doesn't even show remorse for what he did then he gets dragged for it.

People forget Kyrie grew up rich. Accountability and humility is not a priority when you have money. I get what he was trying to say in the interview but trying to make it about our history that isn’t taught in this country is a cop out, dude just lacks humility and oozes hubris.
But Kyrie did nothing wrong. If I said watch Birth of a Nation does that mean I approve of the themes of the film? No. It means I suggested watching the film. Our thoughts about it are separate from the film since we didn't make it.
Being rich has nothing to do with accountability and humility. You think the average person takes accountability? No.
