    I went down on my tenants rent. She didn't ask but I lowered it by $100. Her BF up and left her and she's been fantastic. You can always ask to negotiate the rent. All they can say is no.

    Even though Cricket said it worked in my area- it did not, especially in my home (we’re in south Texas) 👎🏼 But I got our Verizon bill down to $150 for 4 phones. I asked for the cheapest plan and dropped the hotspot (they don’t tell you upfront you can drop the hotspot to save money)

    We are the people who like it to be 68 in their house in the summer 😂 we’re in Oklahoma and have the worst electric company. I just think they’re a bit shady but we pay what we pay in the summer. we just budget in that for 3 months we will have a crazy electric bill. We did ditch directv and AT&T and saved at least $150 a month just doing that!

      @lifebeyondthesalary2458 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We’re in Oklahoma too!! So hey neighbor!!! We do as many $$ saving tricks as we can… average billing, Be careful not to use elec. durning the peak hours (2-7 pm). & auto billing. It has made sure that our bills are NEVER over $250 any month of the year, even if it was to go up to $400+ during the heatwave of summer (those $107+ temps are no joke right?!). We do zero based budgeting & I pay each “bill” by 1/2 each paycheck, which means that since the bill is paid on the same date each month, I know that we will be able to pay it easily & I’m not struggling with being slammed on any one paycheck.

      @jamiestanley9234 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Those are great ideas! I will look into the average billing. Our highest electric bill last year (get ready) was just over $450! For a month! But what really got me was we left the state for almost two weeks in July and we did all the things. Unplugged stuff, turned the ac up, even unplugged the hot water heater. The bill for the next month was only $12 cheaper 😤 I was a little miffed about it!

      I did much the same (tho’ I also negotiated with ATT for my cell and with my internet provider). While I wasn’t extravagant, cutting over $300 a month and then capturing it allowed me to pay off my mortgage earlier, improved my cash flow, and translated into long-term savings growth. Nothing to sneeze at, for sure. And yes, I grind my own coffee beans.

    Thank you so much for these tips! I was able to cut our cable in half and switched cell phones from AT&T to Consumer Cellular. Also trying out our nights and weekends plan for utilities. Next up I’m really working on cutting groceries to $100 a week. The only rub is I’ve got to make a line item budget for our cats. One is on prescription food and also needs high quality litter because he has some health issues. But by cutting down on other expenses this is helping out. Thanks Abby!!

    Last year our home owner’s insurance went up to $8K for the year (YES JUST FOR THE HOUSE), not even including both COMPLETELY PAID FOR CARS. This year we talked to an insurance broker, recommended to me by my in laws, & he saved us (NO JOKE) $7K. Our home insurance alone was going to be 12K for the year. THAT’S $12,000.00!!! JUST FOR HOUSE INSURANCE.. including a brand new roof!!!! SO SWITCHING saved us SOOOO MUCH MONEY!!! DO IT!!! It’s seriously ridiculous that switching saved us that amount of money!!!
    & I call that a financial check. I have a comparison list that I check month to month on the categories that I want to keep track of. Utilities, Gas, insurance, dining out, groceries, hockey (our youngest son does hockey… goalie of course 🥴), flex fund, etc. Just seeing the differences month to month & keeping track of what I like to keep an eye on, makes it so much easier to keep on track or quickly get back on track if need be.

    I’d rather pay for the gym membership that keeps me active and healthy and gets me out of the house vs a cleaning lady. Oh and they have childcare for parents of little ones. Never got into having my nails done. As a weightlifter, there is no point in having my nails done.
    Make sure if you’re cutting your insurance that you’re getting the same coverage with a discounted provider.

    What electric company do you have? That is amazing! A 3,000 sq ft house with an electricity bill of 190$?? We live in an 800 sq ft home and ours in the winter months is 250$!! How absolutely insane. What can I do to lower this? I’m determined.

    That is crazy about the electric there being free for the night usage like that. Definitely would be invested in a battery powered system inverter and then recharging the batteries at night off the electric company usuage if had that option. Even just using power tool batteries for my battery powered fan then recharging at night. I started unplugging electronics and chargers when not in use and that adds up over a months time. They use power to convert the AC voltage in your home to DC voltage even in standby mode. A small amount but at 24/7 and multiple devices and chargers will add up in a months time. Also a clothes drying rack or outdoors clothes line to reduce dryer usuage saves money on electric also if not have the free night time usage option. One thing with tv streaming is to alternate the streaming services, and sometimes they will even offer you a cheaper promo price to come back months later (hulu 2.99). I've seen a lot of credit cards started offering cell phone insurance if pay the bill thru that credit card. So if have that perk, make sure not being charged insurance on your phone plan.

    I know it is not an option for everyone, but we knew that we would not stay at our former apartment due to the high cost and (8) leaks in 12 months. We found a new apartment that is much larger for $150.00 less per month. We also added blackout curtains to all our windows and have significantly reduced our electric bill, which is very necessary in Florida.

    Great tips! I am actually going to shop around for my car and home insurance because the car insurance keeps going up.
    I REALLY wish we could get another cell company. We have Verizon but it's the best in the area and but I pay over $400 for 5 cell phones.
    We live in IL and we have Just Energy for our electricity but comed delivers and our bill was $452. That's absolutely insane. Absolutely drowning it's so frustrating!!

      Find one of the prepaid ones that uses Verizon's towers. I'm the same with car and renter insurance as just got renewal and went up 30% basically. Bad thing is that had swapped a year ago and had been quoted higher then by other companies and found that it may still be cheaper to keep same insurance but definitely gonna check
