Yes, BTS is well worth checking out. My suggestion is to wait with their all English songs (Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance) and do some of their "older" stuff like Fire, Not Today, Dope, Mic Drop, Fake Love, Save Me... And don't forget to turn on the captions because their lyrics are essential and deep. Borahae! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Their English stuff is fluff compared to their own songs, nice fluff but none the less...the songs they write are some of the best songwriting I've ever heard.

BTS discography is a gold mine. Go in with an open mind and let yourself be surprised. They are not your typical boyband. They write their own lyrics AND music, they produce and contribute to everything they put out. Of course they have a team of in-house producers and songwriters at hand, but they do put in the hard work. Their lyrics are honest, often poetic, but my favourites are their social commentary ones. Clever, clever guys.
There are 7 of them and there is no Justin or Beyonce among them. They ALL have star power, charisma and talent to pull their own weight. No one overshadows the others. Each and every one has their place. They all came out with solo music,as well, both as a part of a BTS albums and on their own.
RM and Suga were both very highly regarded in the underground rap community, while still in their teens, before they joined BTS. RM, Suga and J Hope (also a rapper) all have more than 110+ credits for songs they wrote/produced.
I think you will like them

Psy: Gangnam Style was so hot in America years ago. Suga wrote this for Psy as a comeback to Gangnam Style. There are a lot of references in this video to that song. Psy performed it at award show here in USA.

Suga is one of the best rappers and producers in the world. He created the beat of this song, wrote, composed and produced it. He is part of BTS, the most popular artist in the world now. Seven members, 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They have an extensive musical portfolio of hip-hop, pop, ballads, jazz, etc. I recommend MicDrop, Black Swan, ON kinetic manifesto, Dope, Fire, to have a starting point.

SUGA is one of three rappers in BTS, who are a Korean group. He is also a producer. BTS have overcome the boundaries of the western music market and have become one of the biggest recording artists in the world despite primarily singing in Korean. So they are a must for any music lover with an open mind to check out. Try On Kinetic Manifesto for an introduction to BTS. It’s uptempo with fantastic choreography. Please turn on the subtitles in the closed captions for the music video. Enjoy.

PSY is the richest kpop artist in the world and why is he? Well, he is the interpreter of the famous GANGNAM STYLE, the song that was a worldwide success in 2012, 2013, 2014, etc. It was also the first song on the TH-cam platform that reached a billion views throughout history, an incredible figure for that time when youtube was just becoming popular, PSY got so much money that he became independent from "YG ENTERTAINMENT" (same company as BLACKPINK) and created his own record company, he even bought all the rights to YG ENTERTAINMENT of all his songs including GANGNAM STYLE, GANGNAN STYLE currently has more than 4.4 billion views on youtube and is the kpop song (between groups and soloists) with the most views in history.
SUGA is one of the 7 members of BTS, Suga is one of the 3 rappers in the group and besides being a rapper SUGA is a renowned producer.

If you start reacting to BTS, you will immediately make a whole bunch of new friends. BTS does multiple genres of music from Rap and Hip Hop to Pop, R&B, Jazz, Latin, EDM, ballads, and rock. They’re English Songs are all very mainstream pop, so if that’s not your thing then I recommend you stick with their Korean or Japanese songs with the closed captions on for English Subtitles. For you I recommend either On kinetic Manifesto music video or a live performance video of either Dionysus or Outro: Tear that has English Subtitles added. Or, Suga of BTS has two solo albums under the name Agust D (DT Suga spelled backwards). And you can check out his cinematic video for Daechwita with closed captions on.

BTS uses a lot of dance in their music video and and always dance and sing during their live shows. It is very entertaining to watch aside from the fact that their songs contain meaningful and retable lyrics.

  • @julieharris4700
    @julieharris4700 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Actually Suga didn't say those clichès, his rap is clever than that. A better transition is:
    Verse 2: SUGA, PSY]
Hey, have you forgotten what I do for a living?
    (That, that, I like that)
    Like that
Unchanged, even as time goes by
    (That, that, I like that)
    Like that
    I don't care, I don't care that I like that
    (That, that, I like that)
    Like that
To everyone I've longed and longed for
    Everybody get ready, set, go
I've gotten better at taking punches, those who tried hit me with words must feel uncomfortable
Those who prayed for me to fail as you wished
Gather them together and smack them lightly
    That's enough, oh-oh-oh
Just shut up and let's play, oh-oh-oh
    Min Yoongi and Park Jaesang
As a British person you might appreciate BTS's significance in the music world if I tell you that in 2019 BTS had 2 sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium. This is well before they had English songs. The shows sold out in 90 minutes. The show also streamed live to 14 million subscribers.

While I am ARMY and hugely proud of BTS and, in particular Suga for this video, it is sad to see very little said about PSY here, who is the one who broke the ground for BTS and is an influential artist. At least you recognized him from Gangnam Style, but he has more to offer too (this video is in part him leaving his Gangnam personal and era). I do have to admit that I am excited to see you checked out more of BTS. Note: Suga's lyrics are more intricate than the English translation on the lyrics would lead you to think. Make sure to check out credible sources for lyrics on your BTS journey like doolsetbangtan.

Essa música é muito boa, ela tem um ritmo muito maravilhoso, tem uma letra vibrante, tem uma batida única.
O Clipe é maravilhoso, dançante... Tava fazendo falta algo genérico mais bom.

You might enjoy watching the youtube video of the speech PSY gave at the Oxford Union....he talked about his challenges getting into the Korean music industry after attending Boston University and Berkley School of Music due to his non-idol appearance and he also explained his quirky dance style. He really is a legend in Korea and has an amazing catalog of songs. I'm sure it was quite an honor for Suga to write, produce and perform with him. After Gangnam Style and other hits, he went on to start his own record label/entertainment company called PNation. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to attend one of his concerts....they look like so much fun and are all like this....performed just days after the release of this song....enjoy! I'm feeling a bit off today so I'm just copying my own answer from somewhere else. (i'm sorry i can't write it again with another words.
Of course it is humorous song about pandemic..
But it also has a story..
You don't have hint of the back story, because you have not seen Agust D's (SUGA's solo projects rapper stagename) Daechwita MV.. Where there is another colored of that, that classical mobster car, that tells you that PSY is a mobster in this.. (That car is like a more modern symbol [80-90's in SK] like tommy gun is for 100 years ago for US mobsters) And Suga comes in with all of the attitude of another mobster, (there has been some insult that Suga has decided to take as a full on reason to confront - we don't know what the insult was) and people take sides in this mob war and Suga starts to talk to his "older brother" without honorifics - there should be honorifics! - and that is a clear war declaration. And they fight it and so it is settled. And they nurse their injuries like brothers again, and they go to a bar, and have a drink together, and their people go back to what they are doing (dancing)..
