You can see from this video why Von Roll had to be absorbed by Dopplemary. The pylons would have required a lot of man hours to asemble and maintain, the stations still used chain to move the cabins and the cabins rattle a lot. Perhaps even the station designs look outdated compared to what Dopplemayr and Garaventa were producing at the time.
Eine sehr interessante Seilbahn in einer wunderschönen Landschaft. Und vor allem: filmtechnisch auf sehr hohem Niveau. Super Aufnahmen. Farbe, Belichtung, Komposition, alles top!
Von Roll will outlive any Doppelmayer. One has to remember Von Roll used there own steel mill. All other ropeway companies outsourced there steel production. Here in the USA we have some Von Roll VR 101s that are almost 60 years old and have no sign of metal fatigue. Im shure if Von Roll was still in the ropeway business, Doppelmayer and Leitner wouldnt be the leaders in the industry

They have good steel but in terms of technology, they started to be overtaken in the years 90-95 (Grip, gimbals ...)
