Although there are a lot of comments clarifying that cats also purr when they're scared as a Pre-Vet student I want to also clarify that a cat's body language is everything! Although we can't see if the cat's tail is up after they let him down he is showing curious behavior. He was obviously hissing on the table. No more hissing on the ground. Claws were also protruding on the table. No longer on the ground. The cat was not hiding, freezing, constantly grooming to self soothe, hissing or upset vocalizations, and seemed to be sniffing and looking at him mama and started exploring the room. It is my unprofessional student opinion that these are happy purrs!
Thank you so much „unprofessional student“! I think here is enough professionalism to speak thoughtful and well founded words. So grateful for your support Midnight.
Im not a professional vet by any means, but I grew up with a lot of cats and have seen them in all sorts of situations (Ill, greiving, moving, etc etc) and it is my civilian opinion that this cat is definitely feeling better, you can just see it on his face, the way hes looking up with his ears in an alert position, immediately reapproaching after being let go and not trying to get more space or hide, plus the purring is one happy kitty. I hope he's doing better!
I'm sorry for your loss. My Sagwa, the kitty in my profile pic passed away at 20 yrs on Jan 26th 2023. Losing a furbaby is a horribly painful process. 😢
My black cat is turning 18 this June, and I'm currently in South Korea until January 2024. The vet said he is incredibly healthy, but I just can't help but worry....however, he is staying with his grandma, who spoils him rotten.

It's a common misconception that cats purr only when they're content, but they make this sound as a way to self-soothe too and they will purr when they're in pain or stressed out too.
However you can hear a difference in that type of purring, it sounds more stressed and less smooth The audio quality on this vid isn’t good enough for me to tell which purring the cat is doing
@@Tomil4444 cats are solidarity animals you won't be able to tell if they aren't ok because solidarity animals don't show weakness since they don't work in a group unless whatever problem they have festers until they can't hide it anymore(which is one of the problems of having a cat).
