@9:10 it was mentioned that Tale's End, Stifle, and Trickbind can hit mana abilities. Mana abilities do not use the stack, not even LED, and are never able to be interacted with by these spells.
I just got this precon, coming back to Magic after a literal decade, and have gone through almost every Hakbal video there is on TH-cam to find what upgrades are most interesting to me. Yours are by far my favorite…so far. If you ever revisit Hakbal again, please let me know.

I don’t have the financial stability to invest in magic cards so as I build a single deck and upgrade it for more competitive tables I try to find the patterns of generating optimal value. Your decklist refines the value of Hakbal to a laser focus while illuminating each tech piece’s application across the meta. It’s a deck to aspire to one card at a time.
This was such a great video, hoping it turns into a series with a precon pick for every set onwards to take to cedh level. I loved the explanation of the cards and found it really useful and insightful. Well done and thank you for making this I appreciate all the work behind this.
@22:57 I agree thieving skydiver is underplayed however, unfortunately, X can't be 0 so you have to pay THREE in order to steal a mana crypt instead of 2. Still good though.
If no one else mentioned it, the land from your hand on Hakbal's attack comes in *untapped! Nicanzil in the deck let's you put in a tapped land when a creature explores a land
Can you please make an upgraded version of this deck? I really like this deck you have made, but with the ban story, it feels a little bit left behind 😢
you said agatha's cauldron and then ranger captain. my mind was just blown and I instantly oppened my local game store website and bought a copy for my self.
Inspired me to make my own list I liked the mind over matter but wasn't a huge fan of the tatyova lines so I went kumena and intruder alarm for infinite dudes
I love Hakbal. I went with clones, so I get multiple explore triggers per merfolk at the beginning of combat. Then I also have extra turns in there. Exploring x3 each with 5 merfolk can dig pretty nicely to get an extra turn spell. Doing it next turn again can get me to the next extra turn spell. Running Kozilek to prevent self mill. Not cEDH but definitely powerful.

Great video and I love the general idea of pushing "non-cedh" commander as far as you can, definitely a type of video I hope to see more in the future. One question though, is 7 basics really enough to be running back to basics?
I actually thought about it for that exact reason, but then we don't have enough infinite mana combos to make it a thing. Perhaps that's something that can be added to the deck though if it wants to be more Soul Cauldron centric. In the considering tab I had Survival of the Fittest with a bunch of other activations to abuse like Arcanis, but that seemed too cute.
Whats your opinion on the mindsculpers video on making kumena as a cedh commander? I personally like yourcstax version more but they have interesting proactive combos

I know you said you didn't want to play thoracle, but it is so much more reliable than bribery for an opponents thoracle... Also synergistic with commander, so I'd give it a pass. I played a similar combo with azami/mind over matter, and it was sometimes difficult to find the mana to combo and fight over it in one turn. That was with lab maniac, so I can't imagine how much harder it would be with bribery instead. Also possible to get unlucky with being unable to reset the one ring. Say there's 77 cards left. You activate ring 11 times drawing 66 cards and don't find it. You can't activate again without drawing on an empty library. Have you found any issues with that?
I think your content is great. Only one suggestion: The gain on your sound effects and mic is quite high. Plus turning it down would probably help with the loud bell sound that another commenter mentioned

I don’t think I have the resources to go all-in with this exact list, but definitely got some nice ideas out of it 😀
I would love if you talk/made a video about Rats in Cedh. There have been a lot of new rats recently with a lot of diffrent playstyles. My favourite Rat is Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm. A video like this about rats would be lovley 😍

OMG dauthi works too, the possibilities are endless. you can play what the original dauthi exiled with voidcounters.
