Anti-reflective doesn't mean it stops all reflections, it just means there's no mirror-like glass panel on the screen and a matte coating has been applied in order to make reflections less bright and more diffuse.
We have been looking at this as a CAD work laptop, but I think we will end up with a Surface Laptop with A2000 RTX graphic card instead. This computer has some noticeable advantages and the screen really makes it a tough contender. We need the touch ability and the fact that the charger is still really big, vs the small 90W charger on the surface will end up doing the difference. We do CAD and simulations, but rarely on large structures, so we can make do with A2000. From that perspective, what would your immediate comment be? Foolish comparison or can be with good conscience choose the surface over the P1, if the screen size isn't our primary concern?
The P1 Gen 5 A2000 model comes with the lighter/smaller 170W adapter. The Surface 90w will mean the CPU/GPU is throttled down compared to the P1 G5. You can swap out the display for the touch screen (same as on my review) if you need that. Plus, the Surface Laptop will have everything soldered on (Can't upgrade memory/storage) so that is a consideration.
@@Dovecomputers Thanks, good perspective. Everything is in sharepoint, so beyond 512Gb is not needed. 32GB ram is sufficient, i don’t see this being a problem. But the screen is of course the one thing I’d be pressed to overlook. But the mobile working is bad, which on the surface is better…. But good stuff, I’ll ponder that for a second and order the computers tomorrow.

You need to choose between performance processors like the Intel H/HX-series (more heat/fan noise) or Intel/AMD U-series processors aimed at better battery life, lower thermal requirements/lower fan noise. For you, look at the AMD U-series, great performance, thermals, etc.
Honestly, I do think you can run 3d mark time spy more times since the score is irregular. My x1 extreme gen 4 with a 3070 and 11850H got a graphic score around 9000 and a CPU score close to 9200.
Even though this is a workstation I would have prefered to have atleast some fps counter or msi afterburner overlay for the Gaming benchmarks to actually see the performance instead of having to rely on the subjective impressions of the reviwer
MacBook Pro M2 has stellar battery life and maintains the same fast performance whether it's plugged into mains or not and remains quiet at all times, whereas the P1 is faster on mains power, but has audible fan noise in performance mode and has short battery life and slows itself down if unplugged. They both have absolutely excellent quality screens, trackpads and keyboards, although ThinkPad keyboards have a slight edge since they are the best in the business. Choose the Mac if you can use macOS, and the P1 if you require Windows or Linux. Note that the 14" MBP will have a smaller screen than the P1, but there's also a 16" MBP which has the same size screen as the P1.
Trust me I've had the laptop for four weeks and it is a magnesium alloy chassis. The weight is kept down for a 16 inch laptop with flagship components, thanks to that.
@@Dovecomputers Thanks again! Hope that the version with 12700h and A1000 is built like that as well as the thinkpad x1 extreme (which seems to have the exact same construction as the p1 gen 5) with 12700h and 3060, which as my current candidates.

Intel-H CPUs are designed for maximum performance only, hence they are found on top end mobile workstations. The 13th Gen Intel-P CPUs are a good half-way house between performance and battery efficiency. If you need maximum battery life, go for the Intel-U CPUs, usually found in slim ultrabooks.
This is a mobile workstation, therefore designed with the fastest components in mind. You can disable E-cores as well as hyperthreading in the BIOS to reduce CPU power consumption and improve battery life, but then again, why bother with a P1 if you're going to cripple it to that extent. Battery life is not a design goal of the P1 line, you're meant to use them plugged into mains power. If you prioritise battery life over all else, look at the ThinkPad X1 Carbon line, or better yet, a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air with the M2 chip.
Wonderful review. Video was thoroughly entertaining and informative, and every shot looked great.
