Want a really weird fun fact? From 2001 to 2019, the only 2 years the Patriots didn't win the AFC East was 2002 and 2008. In both of those seasons, the Division came down to a week 17 match-up between Brett Farve and Chad Pennington. A win from Brett would've given the Patriots the Division title, but both times, Chad Pennington prevailed over Farve to send his team to the playoffs.
If I had a nickel for every time that happened, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

@@danielhall2991Both the Jaguars and Titans were AFC Central teams. Between those teams, they won that division 1998 through 2000.
Like the Lions, the Browns also won only in the AFC central. They’ve never won the AFC “North”.

Man, that just isn't fair to those team's fans. I hope it changes soon and I hope it begins to happen often. I am from the Baltimore area but NOT a Ravens fan and I witness how spoiled these fans get to be while those other team's fans, like the Browns and Lions just have to keep suffering over and over and over. You would think the law of averages would eventually give everyone a fair amount of winning and a fair amount of losing, but unfortunately life just doesn't work that way.

Pennington led his team to an 11-5 record on a dolphins team with mediocre offensive talent leading the league in comp% and throwing for 3600+ yards 19tds 7ints and winning comeback player of the year. But did not make a pro bowl.
He got 4 first place votes that year despite his offense finishing 10 ranks behind his defense in scoring.
Drew Brees that same year had the first 5000 yard season since Dan Marino and also leading the league in tds with 34 while only having 11 ints. He won offensive player of the year and made 2nd team all pro and was the first QB voted to the pro bowl in the NFC.
However despite having the number 1 overall offense his defense was awful ranking just 26th in points allowed and he went 8-8 and didn’t get a SINGLE MVP vote!!!!!!
Tied with Michael Turner, who should have won in my opinion. Also, Pennington was way better than people give him credit for

For the Browns and Lions, it has been so long the division titles were for the _Central_ rather than the North.
1. Cleveland Browns (AFC Central, 1989)
2. Detroit Lions (NFC Central, 1993)
3T. Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders (2002)
3T. New York Jets (2002)

Technically, the Cleveland Browns have never won their division, because the the Browns that won the Central back in 1989 are now the Ravens

The current Browns own all of the old Browns history though. Art Modell left the Browns’ history in Cleveland when the team moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens.

Injuries and lots of touches derailed him by taking all of his burst and agility similar to zeke now. Good power but noticeably slower for guys that needed the burst.

Today there are people over 50 who were in grade school when the Browns last won the division.
As much as I want to agree with that, I can’t, unless it depends on your definition of Grade School. In my area, that’s usually K-6. By that math, even a 12-year-old 6th grader would only be 46. A kid who failed twice in grade school would still be shy of 50.
Fun/sad Fact, the Tampa bay Buccaneers have won the Lions division more recently than the Lions. And they haven't been in the same division for over twenty years!
