      I just listened today. Beautiful work! I originally found your channel while researching bass tagelharpa which I just took an interest in. I really enjoy the happy and haunting sound of your Jouhikko playing. I appreciate having your album for inspiration.

      I hate to keep rambling on, but after listening to this all day today I have to thank you again. This album is majestic! The Jouhikko is a wonderful instrument and your command of it inspires awe.

    I have just purchased this and well done to you. Glad it's on vinyl which is an instant buy for me. Hello from Ireland, fellow musician here. 🇮🇪

      Hello to Ireland! Happy to hear the vinyl format is good at least for you! Vinyl is not everybody’s favourite, and I understand that. Hope you’ll enjoy the album. And hoping all the best with your own music!

      @@lassilogrenThank you Lass. Well I appreciate that vinyl is a significant investment from your side also so happy to support you. A fun fact, I have learnt some of your tunes (I have heard here in youtube) on button accordion and play these tunes in traditional Irish sessions we play over here. Best regards, Steve

      @@lassilogrenmay I ask could you recommend a reasonably priced version of this instrument, it has a beautiful organic sound. My daughters play violin, Irish harp and hammered dulcimer and I think they would appreciate the challenge to learn this. Many thanks

    • @lassilogren
      @lassilogren  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Steve!
      I could recommend to buy 3 string instrument. Jouhikkos made by Rauno Nieminen (FIN) are the best ones.
      rauno.nieminen@icloud.com
      He is selling a packet:
      - Jouhikko
      - a bow + rozin
      - an instrument case (made by him)
      - a book (+cd) Jouhikko the Bowed Lyre
      - life time guarantee
      Down side is that he is not willing to send the instruments outside of Finland. So best to pick up or ask somebody to bring from Finland.
      The price is very reasonable = 1200€.
      You can have cheaper ones, but not that good, for my opinion.
      Another good builder is for example Mihkel Soon in Estonia.
      mihkelsoon.com/en/contact/
      You can find a jouhikko for 200-400€, but no guarantee that they are playable. Also you need to buy a good bow and the case.. and maybe pay to someone to fix them and make them playable..
      Anyway, hope you will find a good solution!

    I am so happy to have the (pre-ordered) Spotify version of your album to listen to, and to continue hearing your thoughts about playing the Jouhikko over the years. Very interested to experience the 5(+) tunings you mention. In speaking about the idea of an instrument played individually, separate from performing to audiences in bands, I think you might enjoy Jacques Attali’s Noise: The Political Economy of Music. Thank you very much.

    What tuning is this? :) Sounds amazing, suits the spring weather here in middle Sweden right now. :)

    • @lassilogren
      @lassilogren  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hei!
      It’s very warm today here in Oslo!
      The tuning is D4-F3-C4.
      I’m using only D4-string for melody playing because there are only 5 melody notes (an open D-string and four fingers).
      F3 is a drone string. I’m playing open C4-string now and then as a ”2nd drone”, mostly on c-part.
