- How to do a variation of Waki Gatame - Ushiro Waki Gatame! Here I am showing you how to quickly finish your opponent with this neat armlock from Ushiro Gatame. This arm lock is something I've come to call Ushiro Waki Gatame and requires a quick leg and hip extension to get the submission. Pay attention closely to make sure you do it right. I am catching a lot of BJJ guys with that, one thing I realized is that at times good newaza players will be able to turn back to you even if you block their hips with that over-the-hip leg - what I often do is to instead of choke with the right hand, i use it to pin right arm of the opponent to the mat. This way, he cant turn to me (escape) for good!
