This is sure helpful when your AP English Teacher assigns a translated version of the Odyssey to read in two weeks and you haven't been keeping up and you continue to procrastinate until the day before you have to write a short essay in class based on three topics the teacher will reveal on that day and you have to read 200+ pages and still need to watch that night's episode of The Walking Dead. Man, this saved me.
There was also 2 recognition scenes between Odysseus dog, Argus, and his nurse, Eurycleia. When Argus sees Odysseus who's in disguise, the dog still recognises Odysseus. Argus, after finally being reunited with his owner 20 years later, dies from old age. Odysseus sheds a tear. Next, he goes to the palace. Penelope offers him a servent to look after him as part of Xenia, and Odysseus asks specifically for Eurycleia. When Eurycleia pours his bath and bathes him, she remarks how much he reminds her of Odysseus. She then finds a scar on Odysseus' leg, a scar caused by a boar when he was young, and Eurycleia realises who he is. Odysseus has to threaten her to keep his identity a secret so that he can take revenge on the suitors.
As a college student who has to read the odyssey. Thank god for spark notes and cliff notes! Why I have to read the odyssey to get my degree in buisness management I do not know.
FINALLY! I have been struggling to even get past the first page of the story, much less follow it until I watched these videos! Thank you guys so much, I was seriously having hard time reading this stupid story, I can't thank you enough! Now I can uphold my A in English Class! (:
@SkiFantic I'm actually watching this after I've already read the Odyssey for my college lit class, but I have to do a project on it. I'm using this to review. Not everyone uses tools like this to cheat and be lazy.
As Odysseus recounts his 20 year story to his wife in bed, he tells all the details of all the women/goddesses he has slept with before he finally screws her.
Two weeks?!?!?! I spent months reading it, and I thought my Ancient Greek wasn't that bad! Okay, I haven't been translating all day every day, but two weeks.... that's extreme!

Then recognized the suitors in his house. He was instructed to compete for an arrow contest. The first one to straightly shoot the arrow the the axes arrows will win the heart of Penelope. Odyesseus won, but he started to shoot the suitors and started killing one of them. One of the servants tried to give the weapons to the suitors but they were still no match for the servants and obviously Odyesseus. Then you know the rest that happened...

Why do they kill the suitors? Don't understand it tbh
+Justin L For revenge. Odysseus is mad that the guys have been hanging out at his house and trying to marry his wife.
cblw14 still not that understandable, tbh
Yeah, it's literature hoping to excite. It's a little extreme

+Axan Naxa Well she was made from a part of Zues' brain. Therefore she has the brain of a male. :)
+geekgoddess2.0 How do you explain Aphrodite's qualities then?
Gods don't REALLY have a sex
It's because during this time she would not be trusted as much as she is if she was female.
@@KaitheKnightly no wonder shes smart
Killing all the servant girls? Harsh...
He didn't kill all of them, the story said he killed the disloyal ones. But still this is greek/roman mythology so a lot of things are harsh.
When did argos come in?
Sending love and support from Massachusetts College of Art & Design ✌️😂
Odysseus is a guy good at trolling
where was this when I had that odyssey text
This is great! THANKS!
Can you make a video on James Joyce's Ulysses please?

Me too.

Nope. Washington state not D.C.
Ahhh I thought it might be a state test or something. Do you have to talk it for finals? Cause I do
No I don't have to take it for Finals Just a big paper, test and other little things here and there for L.A. 9.
This is sooo much better than reading the Odyssey. The book is so boring. At least, this video makes it somewhat interesting...
I have a quiz on this and forgot my book. Thanks for the video😁

She probably chose to as a goddess of war given all the war he had been through
