Thursday Boot Company was trialing a new last on their Rugged and Resilient Captains and Presidents. It has a slightly wider forefoot and rounder toe. I'm loving the look and fit!

Huge fan of the change as well. I love the look of my Thursday captains but they do squeeze my feet a bit so I don’t wear them as often. Gonna get a pair of these!
I just bought my first pair of captains in July of this year, apparently right before they switched to the new last. I've found this pair of captains to be not very comfortable, and realizing my toes are crowded in the toe box. Looks like I'll be ordering a new pair pretty soon, I think this new last will do the trick!
Great video. I just got my first pair of Thursday boots (Captains in Arizona Adobe). I'm personally very glad that they widened the toe box. That's the area that causes me to need to buy shoes in either a wide width or get them longer than normal just for extra space. These fit me perfectly and are ridiculously comfortable. I also think the wider toe looks way better. Much more masculine than a pointy toe boot. I like your matte black so much I might get a pair of those myself!

Just got my black matt captains.... same deal... a bit wider than my regular black captains from 2 years ago.
I like it for the rugged and resilient but not sure if I'd like it for their dressier leathers.
Hopefully they keep the old last in other leathers so people have the option of the last they prefer 👍
The change was only for the rugged & resilient (captain and president) line that’s why it’s wider than the classic collection. But today…the rugged and resilient (captain and president) got a new makeover again. Excited to buy a pair of those new last.

I just ordered my first pair of Thursdays, rugged and resilient Arizona Adobe. I’m in favor of this change. I usually opt for slim/straight leg jeans, so it will pair a bit better for me than tapered jeans.

The boot is just a little wider?! = AWESOME! This gives me a reason to order another pair. Awesome boot BUT it is a little tight / narrow for the average foot.
I’m with ya! I’ve tried the wide fit before but it was too wide in the heel for me…this = perfection for me 👍
I experienced the same with two pairs of Legend Falcon. I ordered one weeks ago, liked it but it wasn't for me. Then last week I changed my mind and decided to get it for the cold, wet weather. I received one that looks wider, and I liked it even more. It's way more comfortable around my toes and doesn't look as pointy.

Right now it’s on the rugged and resilient boots. If you click product features and then ‘release notes’ it will show which last the boot you’re looking at was built on. Hope that helps!
I have had the matte black captains for over a year and love them even though my right pinky toe gets pretty sore by the end of the day. I ordered another pair in a different color that came in today and I immediately noticed the last was different. I wish I could like it but it just makes the boot look ugly to me. Especially in brown as opposed to the black ones you have, it's more noticeable. Sad day. I wish they would have announced it was different. It is more comfortable, but... slippers are comfortable too and I don't wear them outside of the house haha. Glad you liked them though!
Haha that is true! I do wonder why it wasn’t announced and that way people could choose which last they like and order the one they prefer. Now I want to do a slipper video lol
Frankly I wish they’d just change to this last all around on the captains. I just ordered some of the brown chrome leather captains and I ordered them in my usual sneaker size because I couldn’t get wides in the half size down.
I find Thursdays fit better sized up like that too!

I literally just got some Captains the other day and noticed this! I thought I was out of my mind- thanks for clearing this up! The toe is definitely rounder than it once was.

The storm sole captains also have this last or only normal rugged and resilient ?
My understanding is all rugged and resilient Captains but if you’re ordering I would email them to confirm which last your boots are made on. There are still some older lasts shipping out from what I’ve seen and once the newer last is all sold out it won’t be back…I posted another update to this new last that might be of interest! I don't think the thursday look suits the wider last. They have a more dressy style which suits a more pointy last.
I really think it works well in the rugged and resilient leathers that lend themselves to a casual look but the almond shaped last still looks great in the dressier leathers. Just my opinion though. I think having both options is a nice middle ground 👍
Definitely destroys the classic look. Why change it? Just get the wide toe or don’t follow the size 1/2 down advise. The look like regular work boot now and not a service boot.
Older last looks a lot better.
Do these fit 1/2 bigger like Thursday says? I ordered the Titans half size smaller and they where super narrow and a bit short on me. Thinking on getting the Presidents black matte since yheg widened them but not sure on sizing.
I can’t imagine going 1/2 down with Thursdays, I can imagine that would be real tight on the toes! I always go true to size and these fit true to size for me as well 👍

I'm glad I got my 8 pairs before they came out with this ! The narrow pointy toe was unique and gave it a more refined dressier look. Now they just look like every other work boot out there.
They just sent another update on Reddit that they’re abandoning this once they’re all sold! I can’t keep up haha

I ordered captain black matte recently and I noticed same it’s definitely made in different last, which I find extremely comfortable and looks good! Great content btw I enjoy your honest reviews!

From what I’ve read they still have some old stock moving out as well. Kind of a transition period I guess?
I hate the wide toe box. It looks like a redwing or wolverine. Thursdays have a very good shape that people have loved forever.
They need to find a good last and stick with it. I’m waiting for them to change back before buying again.
They only changed a small portion of them…most remained on the old last. I should do a side by side of a red wing and the Nirvana last, it would be interesting to see how close they are to a red wing. I guess soon it won’t matter anyway because this wider toe will be gone forever!
is the eva foam still there?
Same materials and construction from what they’ve said…I keep hoping for a leather insole but I don’t think it’s going to happen 🤞🤞

Tho also thr thing is people nevrr asked for a mote rounded looking worky thursday boot, if I did I'd get the loggers they make, or just buy red wings! Thursday lovers are people who work in city's or do mild work and or have office style casual styles

People mostly also hate the change cause they didn't announce it at all, just make an entirely different model for this! A better change would've been make the instep the tiniest bit wider and less flattened, make it more similar to a allen edmonds dress last and do that to all their lasts
I’m guessing they had feedback from a test group or something. I think it’s a smart move to keep the old last in most of the leathers so it’s still available to those that prefer the old toe box. Appreciate the feedback, always great to hear different opinions! Have a great day!
Ye it's annoying that they are doing a "test run" on the actual product so anyone that wants the old last is just screwed

I have 7 OG pairs. Not a fan of the new last.
My wide feet are thankful for the extra room! I think if I had a standard width foot it might be a little too roomy
i like the new last, a bit better but would still like it to be a teeny bit wider still.
You might like some of Canada wests Moorby boots…they have some service style boots in a EE and EEE

I am in the “not a fan” camp. I have matte black Captains, purchased a year ago and I LOVE them. I was just about to pull the trigger on Arizona Adobe but after seeing this video and other pics on reddit showing the difference, I just can’t justify $200, if I am not 100 percent into it. Much prefer the older last. Thank you for making the video.

This is definitely a huge let down they already have a wide toe option so this makes no sense
@@jonahlmoore I’ve tried the wide fit but it’s wide throughout and too wide in the heel and waist for me…the wider forefoot here is just right. Different strokes for different folks though!
@@bootsjeansandtheoddwatch I never tried the wide toe but I originally sized down and had the same problem with the pinky toe but I just got my normal size and been wearing them everyday for a couple years so was disappointed because the look is way different. I measured it to be 6mm wider but they’re saying only 3mm.
It looks better!! Much prefer the slightly wider/rounded toe shape.
