  • asimplyfab.life/ Today we go after a sticky interior door handle in the Defender... To anyone who owns an older Land Rover Defender - you know what is involved. To those who have not yet embarked on the 'archaeology' stay tuned and have a look to prepare yourself for what's hiding behind the door card...
    What I mean by that is that it does not work as advertised anymore, leaving you with a futile attempt to exit the vehicle and resorting to opening the door from the outside door handle...
    Pretty easy to do and not intimidating except for the fact that inside most Defender doors there resides a 'rusty' little secret 😬😅

    Fill the bottom with waxoil. Will keep it going for another few years

      Good shout... maybe a bit late for these doors - and I say that purely based on curiosity regarding development of rust 🤨🤔😊

      @mrcvry 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Too late. They are already rusted. Put some rust converting stuff in. Something like Owatrol.

    • @TheRetr0Miner
      @TheRetr0Miner 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrcvry definitely dont do that. Rust converter wont penetrate the layers of rust. It acts as a barrier and once broken locks moisture under and speeds up the rusting process. Waxoil stops the rust process by bonding to it and eliminating oxygen that causes the rust process. It forms a flexible membrane that will not crack and trap moisture underneath

    It’s great when I shut my doors, all of the rust from the bottom of the frame falls out. And I don’t need to worry about undoing the screws along the bottom of the door because there aren’t any left. And the door card flapping around gives better ventilation so preventing rust. Maybe.

    Ohhh how often have we opened that - haha... and yes, I don't even look to the bottom of the door ... The TDI window winder is much simpler than the TD5... they had a really 'good' idea with a clip there, which will jump somewhere in case you get'm out ... All the best and keep on rolling - cheers Axel

    Hi there,
    Very nice video. Need to do some work on my doors too. Mostly to make them look better and ill clean the sand out haha.
    Also have hub seals leaking so yea.... joy. Work ahead.
    Would love to see a video on the seals if you can.
    Best regards,
    Paul

    Hi Marcel, thanks for the info.
    I have no idea where to find the part your looking for.
    Maybe braze it or soulder it.
    Stay safe mate, say hi to Vic for me.

    When we did mine we used numberplate screws with there

    • @ASimplyFabLife
      @ASimplyFabLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arguably the better route than employing seven different screws 😂
