Do any of you realize that this was the very first SIMS game? Without this, we probably wouldn't even have half the games on the market today! I was glad to grow up in the 80s and see all this stuff develop into what it became now. What you don't realize is the ""boring" and "petty" games back then paved the way for games like SIMS. World of Warcraft, etc. Think twice before you judge the "nostalgic" games.
SandraB half the games? '-' i think we wouldnt have like at most 400 games not half of the games on the market of any year D: doom was much more influential and you get that this wasnt an inspiration D:
Dude this was like a prehistoric version of the Sims and not boring at all. The guy who created The Sims even said that he was influenced by this game when creating his own.
Not only influenced... :) _Will Wright, designer of The Sims, has mentioned playing Little Computer People, and receiving valuable feedback on The Sims from its designer, Rich Gold._
thank you, i've been trying to think of the name of this game forever! I used to play this when I was a kid on a black and white monitor, it was actually fun back then, damn i'm old lol
I had this game on disk for the C64. I thought it was pretty cool, especially when he played the piano. His name was Carson. I guess its kind of a distant cousin to the Sims 2.
There are two versions of this game: the original one on floppy was complete, while the cassette version (not original) was not complete: the guy doesn't play piano and does nothing you order. I think this video comes from the cassette version.
When I had this on the c64 about 20 years ago I left it on for two days solid hoping he'd either die or his dog would... it didn't happen. My LCP wouldn't even get sick.
A very, very innovative game for its time. Each disk had a unique character (for the diskette version, not tape). In your video he is blond, in my copy he is balding and grey. If you say please you get better results. Like Please play piano will stop him in his tracks and he will play the piano almost every time.
@razor71 I use VICE, but also CCS64 since it offers Kaillera Client/online/multi play. So many great vintage/classic games, but with the exception of 1 person (who's disappeared awhile back), I can't find anybody to play them with. Obviously (judging from the numerous videos here) there is interest in retro-gaming, but I've had little luck attracting potential retro gamers. Here goes....you wouldn't by chance be interested in playing C64, Atari 2600-400/800, NES, or MAME, online, would you?
and it was very good to say please. the ctrl button along with a letter would deliver items to door Food, Dog food, Record, Book, Pat on back, Water would fill water tank, Call on phone,
Old question, but since it wasn't answered: That was the pizzicati from Act III of "Sylvia" by Leo Delibes. As for why the user couldn't get the LCP to do anything: You have to know how to spell and use correct grammar for the game to understand the parsing. You also have to be polite so that the LCP will like you and be amenable to your requests.
Remember buying this on cassette for the C64. The concept was brilliant but the game was so dull and disappointing. Apparently the disk version was far better.
I have spent hours upon hours with this game, trying to figure out things. I always felt there was a lot of stuff hidden. By the way, that particular LCP guy is looking weird. Mine was a regular brown-haired one.
@bugauga1 Pirates!, sweet game! (Ever play Uncharted Waters series for S/NES/Sega Genesis?) Ever play Tai-Pan? A bit like Pirates, but in South East Asia. MULE was/is cool. C64 is STILL great/fun! I have literally EVERY (20,000+) C64 game available. 1 of my favorite C64 games is SSI's Colonial Conquest (Strategy/War) I must play it @ least once a week. I like strategy, but also racing & platform. You know, some emulators have Kailera Client for online/PvP play? I'm looking for players.
He has a lovely telephone voice , >>> "Mwaa mwu mwaa mwe bleeb mwaa bluub blaab bweeb bwolb mwaa mwooo" lol , perhaps he's related to the telly-tuby's . ,
Oh fuck! I think I just pissed myself laughing. I used to love this game - played it for hours on end. Neglect him enough and he turns green and dies. I suppose I was a weird kid... :-)
It was like a useless primitive verson of the sims. I used to watch it for hours though. The whole thing was less than 50K... gotta hand it to those pioneer programmers.
The game was good and interesting for it's time. I think people are just used to more... interactive, action type games and this seems very boring and uninteresting, now.
@razor71 hi im a different dude and i downloaded the emulator i try to download the game i search for the win vice emulator for it but it doesn't work please help i real
@SarahCoyoteTanzosch If you miss it, then why don't you just play it again? It's available on MAME (real arcade version), VICE (C64) & Stella (Atari 2600) emulators. If you do want to play but you're unfamiliar with emulation, where to find emulators/ROMs, & how to set them up, etc, let me know & maybe I can help.
hahaa buzzin , i used to realy like this game . I always felt a bit guilty when i had to turn it off lol , i pictured him lying in bed all depressed with no food or present's , so i used to send him loads of food N stuff before i switched it off , lol . thx for posting m8 , top vid .
Only boring for people without imagination. For me it was one of the most fascinating games of this time.
Think twice before you judge the "nostalgic" games.
your right, i used to rock this on the c64 :), this was the very first sims!
SandraB half the games? '-' i think we wouldnt have like at most 400 games not half of the games on the market of any year D: doom was much more influential and you get that this wasnt an inspiration D:
TheMrBiermann
I stand corrected. All the games. :-D
In fact there were games back then with set ups I wish today games had. Like the quest games.
Dude this was like a prehistoric version of the Sims and not boring at all. The guy who created The Sims even said that he was influenced by this game when creating his own.
Not only influenced... :)
_Will Wright, designer of The Sims, has mentioned playing Little Computer People, and receiving valuable feedback on The Sims from its designer, Rich Gold._
This was the first game that really captured the existential nightmare of human existence.
thank you, i've been trying to think of the name of this game forever! I used to play this when I was a kid on a black and white monitor, it was actually fun back then, damn i'm old lol
I can recall in the instructions it said that at the start the LCP explores the house by itself.
I loved this thing! And that was despite the fact that I bought it as a "classic" reissue for Windows.
lol @ "I sayd"
I had this on my Atari 512 ST computer. My guy's name was 'Edgar". The one piano tune was very sad! Now we have the Sims. This was hilarious!
without this game there will be no sims today!!!
I love how he "sayd" him to play the piano and he did nothing.
I remember the guy taking a shower after the game being left on for about 8 hours. I could never make him take a shower though.
Ugh i feel old now, I played this as a kid
I had this game on disk for the C64. I thought it was pretty cool, especially when he played the piano. His name was Carson. I guess its kind of a distant cousin to the Sims 2.
And by the way... we're talking about games here. Nothing to take too serious :)
Adding "Please" is recommended, as in real life ;-)
i like the voice when he talks.. sounds like he says 'shutup'
There are two versions of this game: the original one on floppy was complete, while the cassette version (not original) was not complete: the guy doesn't play piano and does nothing you order. I think this video comes from the cassette version.
I remember that if you left the game running for a day or two the little chit would start to out smart me. Is there a VERSION I can run on a lap top?
pulesjet the Commodore 64 has been re-released. You can download this game and it loads in seconds
well "make fire" means "play piano". Now I can close this video.
I found that if you patted him on the head when he was sitting down (CTRL + P), he would smile and then be even more cooperative.
FINALLY! Proof this game was not just something I had made up in my head!!
Not boring or stupid. It was a groundbreaking game.
When I had this on the c64 about 20 years ago I left it on for two days solid hoping he'd either die or his dog would... it didn't happen. My LCP wouldn't even get sick.
Lol... I could never get that guy to do anything I said.
The reason the guy is not responding to commands in the video is because the user is not saying please.
I though Rich Gold was this game's inventor (just his style of creative thought) - RIP Rich :)
You don't want to find it.. LCP.. Little computer people.. if you really really want to play it.. e m u l a t e
1:16 Brush teets LOL!

Hey all!!.....This is kinda, sooooorta, like..."The Sims", ver. 0.5 hehehe
Is it just me or does this look like the first Sims game ever created?
It sort of paved the way for The Sims, though.
@razor71 I use VICE, but also CCS64 since it offers Kaillera Client/online/multi play. omg I cant believe I missed this one...looks even more depressing than Jimmy-The-Self-Made-Man
You forgot: "Please write letter."
XD
there is a version for pc. it is an emulated version. c64 games volume 2 had LCP on it.
and it was very good to say please. the ctrl button along with a letter would deliver items to door Food, Dog food, Record, Book, Pat on back, Water would fill water tank, Call on phone,
Anybody knows the title of the piano music?
Old question, but since it wasn't answered: That was the pizzicati from Act III of "Sylvia" by Leo Delibes. Either the dog or the man farted at 0:37...

Ours's name is Malcolm.
Best monolog ever

@Wobot17yea Did you end up getting any Commodore 64 games working? If not, I can help. Just let me know.
You have to say please before a command
This is the Grandfather of THE SIMS... but they wanted to them not to obey you...
Funny video. I remember that game from back when.
I want this as a screen saver lol.
@bugauga1 Pirates!, sweet game! (Ever play Uncharted Waters series for S/NES/Sega Genesis?) Ever play Tai-Pan? A bit like Pirates, but in South East Asia. MULE was/is cool. C64 is STILL great/fun! IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE.

Oh fuck! I think I just pissed myself laughing.
I used to love this game - played it for hours on end. Neglect him enough and he turns green and dies. I suppose I was a weird kid... :-)
Funnier than Sims 3. Legendary game
It was like a useless primitive verson of the sims. I used to watch it for hours though. The whole thing was less than 50K... gotta hand it to those pioneer programmers.
Yeah, you have to say please. :P It's also said not "sayd", btw.
this game was fantastic !!!!
2:58 what's the name of that music?
It's like the Sims, only slightly worse graphics and better controls :)
I like the dog :)
The character is pretentious. He does not want to play the piano.
