Instead of doing the first layer of cake with the bottom side up try doing it with the bottom side down. That gives a good foundation for your cakes to start off straight and the buttercream won't look like it has indents in it after smoothing. The rest of the cakes you can have the bottom side up especially the last layer so that it has a nice straight edge.
This cake looks gorgeous! I’ve been trying to figure out how I should make my strawberry lemonade cake for my birthday and this is the one! I can’t wait to try it. Thank you for sharing.
