Completely understand the joy this type of giving brings. My 1930 unrestored Dlx Coupe (in the family since 1967) has added to smiles as the 'delivery' vehicle to Great Gatsby themed Birthday events and such. Share the joy and smiles! Two things that seem to always bring smiles,.....Model A's and Bacon!!
My dad suggested I'd rent my coupe to wedding couples and I went "Sure. I'll be the driver, the bride will be my passenger and the groom... Well, maybe on the running boards or in the trunk, who cares." ;)
As a car enthusiast, professional photographer and “father” to an adopted daughter (who is getting married in June) this is a great video! Gave me some great ideas. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Paul. Loved what you did. So many memories of my wedding many years ago. We did live happily ever after. We married in the church office with our two best friends, the preacher, and an old lady playing an organ. Most everyone else said it will never last. Sometimes I wondered! My wife passed on weeks before our 62nd anniversary. My daughter recently posted on her Facething photos of my new red Model A, saying I learned to drive in one just like it. I actually learned in a 1955 Chevy and my first car was a 1949 Dodge coupe. Sometimes our kids get confused. Shortly after I was married I did buy a worn out 1931 Model A coupe. It started to be red when I sold it. For 60+ years my wife and I dreamed of another red Model A. In memory of my wife I finally bought the car she dreamed of, a red 1931 deluxe phaeton. Maybe I'll get to drive one of my grandkids in it for their wedding.
Ah That was fun! My 31 Fordor has been in the UK for 22 years and has always been used as a Wedding car first in Scotland and the past 10 years in Wales. Now it's with me in England. I will have a go at the occasional wedding with it too in the summer. Over here we have a white ribbon from the top edges of the windshield around the Motometer and back, and white bows on all the door handles. We pick up the Bride from her home to the Venue, wait for the happy couple to come out and then drive them both off to the Wedding Reception party. Job done! 4 hours work and charge about £250 British Pounds (about $300.)
Your video put a smile on my face. I have done a couple of wedding with my 29 Fordor and I really enjoy watching peoples face that have never been around a model A before. That's the best part (Taking about my A's)
Nice video, congrats to the Bride and Groom. As for the ill fated Ranger... well if it makes you feel any better, I once spent 6 months of all of my spare time painting a car to perfection for a young friend. He totalled in 3 months later. Keep up the great videos. You've taught me so much about my Model A.
Congratulations to the Bride & Groom! Also a possible video idea if you feel up to it... How to clean underneath your Model A & the engine. Grace & Peace - Kris
Nice video Paul! I did a wedding with my Tudor a couple of years ago and, as you said, it was a great time. Everyone loves the old iron. The Tudor wasn't as Bride & Groom friendly as your Fordor, but it worked just fine the way the seats fold and hinge forward. Thanks again for the entertaining video.
We do it way different down here in Australia. We take the bride to the church in the Model A, we have white ribbon from each side of the roof down to the radiator cap, the driver wears a suit & we take the bride & groom from the church to the reception. Done well & done how it should be done!
I forgot about all those details. You covered them all so well. I did a couple of weddings in my 26 touring model T and it was a carbon copy of what you showed. What fun. Thanks for bringing back some good memories (I don't own that car anymore) and for sharing some very valuable information for anyone who gets asked to supply the classic wheels for such an occasion. Also, I noticed the use of Hyper-Lube (must be similar to STP?) in the steering gear. Do you use it anywhere else on the car?
